We recently had multiple Nutanix Blocks installed and I have started configuring them for Active Directory Authentication; however, logging on using AD Accounts is super slow and takes several minutes to logon. I have configured the Authentication to IP Addresses, FQDN's and DOMAIN but all are still unacceptably slow. ldap://192.168.1.1:389 ldap://server.domain.org:389 ldap://domain.org:389 For the Prism Role mapping, I have configured AD Groups and Single Users and the logon is still super slow. There was a post about change recursive authentication to be off; however, there was no command string associated with NCLI. Anyone experiencing this issue? Would like to know the best practice for configuration AD Authentication. Thanks for any assistance... David

I need to change the IPMI IP Address on 2 Nodes of a 4 Node Dell XC Block. I know how to change the IP from the iDRAC Console; however, how do I get it to update the Nutanix Node? I read through the Admin Manual; however, I could not find anything related to changing the IPMI IP Address. Thanks,David

I have a demo Nutanix NX-1020 with three nodes sitting on a bench in a lab environment. Each node is connected to a private 1G 8 port unmanaged switch (Netgear ProSAFE). Six ports are used for metadata traffic using a 10.0.0.xxx subnet. One port is connected to a wall port to access my companies network. I plug my laptop into the eighth port switch. 10.0.0.20-22 - CVM IPs 10.0.0.30-32 - AHV IPs 10.0.0.50 - Cluster IP I have one VM created with dual NICs. The internal NIC has 10.0.0.101 and the external NIC has 172.21.35.23 with the Subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and the gateway of 172.21.35.1, but I cannot get access to the company network. Hello Nutanix I am currently in progress of deployment of Acropolis File Services (AFS) Everything has been going well until the "Can't contact LDAP Server" error occured I have given it a check by viewing some configuration on NVM and found out that although on Prism, they have been assigned with 2 IPs but actually running with only 1 IP when checked via console by ifconfig command (eth0 only) Let me make it clearer via the "topology" below: CVMs connecting to NVMs by Subnet A IPs Clients, AD and DNS servers should be connected to NVMs by Subnet B IPs Recently, those NVMs are running with only 1 Subnet A IP although on Prism, I saw they have already assign with both Subnets?! My block is running with AOS 4.7.2. I have also given some seaches around and seen that both Internal and External networks could be the same as described in this video?! Hello Nutanix Currently, my demo cluster has had problem in removing host from cluster The host that I wanted to remove has an SSD showing status: "Marked for removal but not detachable" and it has been kept by that status for a long time with nothing changed despite that the host was shown up as successfully removed the host So, after that I have tried reinstalling this host but that status still showing up and I cannot do anything with the new reinstalled host as well as expanding the cluster with it By the way, I noted that before reinstalling this host, this host was running as a cluster member

Hello everyone, I am wondering if anyone had any insights on how to get a succesful backup with veeam and nutanix and if there is something I am just overlooking. I know I am oversimplifying but I have followed the best practices setup and have checked all of the settings twice but somehow I still get the following error: 12/5/2015 1:30:11 PM :: Unable to allocate processing resources. Error: Provider [{89300202-3cec-4981-9171-19f59559e0f2}] does not support shadow copies of volume [\LSSHARE01LIFE_NTNX01].--tr:Failed to add volumes to the snapshot set.--tr:Failed to perform pre-backup tasks. I could have sworn that if NOS is added to AD then the share can use the VSS. I am frankly not finding any information on this and have gone from logs, to accounts, to verifying the storage. Good day Nutants I got a situation that I'd really appreciate your help in resolving After successfully migrating a PD to a remote site and successfully powering on the VM at the remote site, when I attempt to Migrate the PD back to the Main(Prod) Site it fails with error : critical Protection Domain XXXXXXX activate/deactivate failed and cause is listed as "Protection domain cannot be activated or migrated" Any pointers?? This PD has one CG with one VM in it (WIN SERVER 2012 with NGT installed and NGA service is running)

I've been trying to clear out a entry in the nCLI interface on a CVM without luck. tried the standard 'history -c' and 'events history clear'. Basically I have a value I dont want to show up at the propmt is a user is cycling through the "up arrow history" while in ncli. Anyone with the command?

Hai Nutanix Team I have a question regarding to customer needs, what sould I suggest to customer if they want to plan migrate their Database existing to Nutanix Acropolis? and If existing physical email server has 2 or more NIC, 1st WAN 2nd LAN, then we migrate to acropolis, so we add another NIC to VM, so what we configure for mapping NIC's WAN or LAN is at Switch Tor or VSwitch at Acropolis ? What is SSD to HDD ratio followed for nutanix?

Hello- I had a question on remote site best practices. When we create a remote site for PD replication do you think we should create a new container at the remote site for the replicated vms to reside in or just use our existing container that is running that active vms at the remote site? In the second scenario the active vms at the remote site would be on the same container as the snapshots replicating from the PD active site. Just wonder what other people are doing? Thanks, Erik

Hi, Is it possible to assign additional IP to nutanix cluster? Scenario is as follows: 1. Having network class A with 10.x.x.x which is used for CVM, hypervisor communication during configuration. 2. Cluster virtual IP is also from 10.x.x.x range. 3. Added additional IP range of 172.x.x.x to CVM, Hypervisor. 4. Is it possible to add additional IP range IP of range 172.x.x.x to cluster virtual IP? Trying to setup a Nutanix cluster (non prod) to automatically email me the NCC results. Have setup the SMTP and alert email configuration sections in Prism Element. Verified from a CVM that emails are being sent okay. Next, on a CVM, I ran ncc --set_email_frequency=4 and saw that it took successfully. Finally, running ncc --show_email_config but gettting result Value for the flag --show_email_config has not been set. Obviously I am missing something?

The pasword for nutanix user was reset on the prism central system and now I am unable to login even though I am sure the password is correct. It seems it may have become unknown due to the console setting for special characters. In this case how do we recover login access to the node. I didnt set another sudo or other user for this system either.

A rather simple question :) Once the NFS Datastore has been presented to the nodes, each node shows the NFS Datastore and the Local disk as available storage. My question is, how do others deal with this scenario? What is to stop an admin from storing data to the local data store as opposed to the NFS data store which is where you want them to store their VM's? Curious how others have dealt with this. Hello - Trying to upgrade via one-click upgrade in Prism from 4.0.2.2 to 4.0.3. Even though I have "Enable Automatic Download" enabled it does not show 4.0.3 as "available compatible version." However, I have another identical cluster which shows 4.0.3 as available. Anything I am missing to make sure Prism auto downloads the latest NOS from Nutanix? Thanks.
