Hi All-I am in the process of creating some MSCS SQL Clusters on Server 2012R2 . In the applicable documentation in regards to using iSCSI-based VGs with Nutanix. Also read Mike Websters information about hot expaning the disks associated with those VGs in an upcoming software release, really nice! My question is about how I break the I/O over the multiple VMWare P/V SCSI controllers currently. If I followed the instructions in https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/solutions/details?targetId=BP-2049_Acropolis_Block_Services:BP-2049_Acropolis_Block_Services Wouldn't all the I/O go over the default and only SCSI controller for that VM? I am trying to distribute the I/O for logs, tempDB, etc over multiple SCSI controllers. It was worked well in our environment in which we leverage RDMs and would like to try to repeat this on the Nutanix side. Can

Hi all, we're on AOS 4.7.2 with vmware 6.0 upd 2 I was thinking to add a secondary vmknic management interface on all esxi hosts (to be used for backups) doing that just on vmware config without touching anything in cluster config? Thanks a.

Good day Nutants I got a situation that I'd really appreciate your help in resolving After successfully migrating a PD to a remote site and successfully powering on the VM at the remote site, when I attempt to Migrate the PD back to the Main(Prod) Site it fails with error : critical Protection Domain XXXXXXX activate/deactivate failed and cause is listed as "Protection domain cannot be activated or migrated" Any pointers?? This PD has one CG with one VM in it (WIN SERVER 2012 with NGT installed and NGA service is running)

I've been trying to clear out a entry in the nCLI interface on a CVM without luck. tried the standard 'history -c' and 'events history clear'. Basically I have a value I dont want to show up at the propmt is a user is cycling through the "up arrow history" while in ncli. Anyone with the command?

Hi All, I'm a Nutanix KVM user and I would like to know how I can deploy a virtual appliance provided by a third party company. In vmware you can deploy a template, in KVM you can import a new VM ... what about Nutanix / Acropolis ? Thanks. Fred.

Hai Nutanix Team I have a question regarding to customer needs, what sould I suggest to customer if they want to plan migrate their Database existing to Nutanix Acropolis? and If existing physical email server has 2 or more NIC, 1st WAN 2nd LAN, then we migrate to acropolis, so we add another NIC to VM, so what we configure for mapping NIC's WAN or LAN is at Switch Tor or VSwitch at Acropolis ? Regards, Caplin

What is SSD to HDD ratio followed for nutanix?

Hello- I had a question on remote site best practices. When we create a remote site for PD replication do you think we should create a new container at the remote site for the replicated vms to reside in or just use our existing container that is running that active vms at the remote site? In the second scenario the active vms at the remote site would be on the same container as the snapshots replicating from the PD active site. Just wonder what other people are doing? Thanks, Erik

Hi, Is it possible to assign additional IP to nutanix cluster? Scenario is as follows: 1. Having network class A with 10.x.x.x which is used for CVM, hypervisor communication during configuration. 2. Cluster virtual IP is also from 10.x.x.x range. 3. Added additional IP range of 172.x.x.x to CVM, Hypervisor. 4. Is it possible to add additional IP range IP of range 172.x.x.x to cluster virtual IP? Thanks

Hi, What are requirements of creating Protection Domain with replication at DR / secondary site? Thanks in advance

Hi, How to automate failover in unplanned event using Prism? Thanks in advance

Trying to setup a Nutanix cluster (non prod) to automatically email me the NCC results. Have setup the SMTP and alert email configuration sections in Prism Element. Verified from a CVM that emails are being sent okay. Next, on a CVM, I ran ncc --set_email_frequency=4 and saw that it took successfully. Finally, running ncc --show_email_config but gettting result Value for the flag --show_email_config has not been set. Obviously I am missing something?

The pasword for nutanix user was reset on the prism central system and now I am unable to login even though I am sure the password is correct. It seems it may have become unknown due to the console setting for special characters. In this case how do we recover login access to the node. I didnt set another sudo or other user for this system either.

A rather simple question :) Once the NFS Datastore has been presented to the nodes, each node shows the NFS Datastore and the Local disk as available storage. My question is, how do others deal with this scenario? What is to stop an admin from storing data to the local data store as opposed to the NFS data store which is where you want them to store their VM's? Curious how others have dealt with this. Thanks, Sky

Hello - Trying to upgrade via one-click upgrade in Prism from 4.0.2.2 to 4.0.3. Even though I have "Enable Automatic Download" enabled it does not show 4.0.3 as "available compatible version." However, I have another identical cluster which shows 4.0.3 as available. Anything I am missing to make sure Prism auto downloads the latest NOS from Nutanix? Thanks.

Hello's I have an existing VMware install using a storage array. I have a three node Nutanix cluster that i'll be migrating to. I've read through some of the solutions offered and i have an additional question. When i migrate my VM's using vmotion from the legacy platform, do i have to make a decision to which host on the Nutanix side the VM will reside and if so, do i have to think about balancing out my VM's across the three hosts? Thanks all for your time, Sky.

I'm running NOS 4.7.1 with vSphere 6.0 and loving the seemless vm migration to the remote site using Metro (for a planned outage). Is there a way to perform a failback just as seemlessly - no downtime? After reading through Mike McGhee's v2.0 Best Practices document I wasn't able to find if this is possible or not.

While trying to add a new node to my cluster where I need to re-image before adding to the cluster, the iso_whitelist.json in the foundations downloads page appears to be broke, just redirect back to the support portal. appologies if this is the wrong place to rais the issue Regards, Stephen

Hi, we have installed a 4 node Nutanix cluster. In the installation process you have to select the cluster redundancy factor, RF2 or RF3. We tried to select RF3 but the system says that you need at least 5 nodes. So we were forced to create the cluster with RF2. In the future we plan to extend the cluster with additional nodes, may be only storage nodes. Will it be possible to upgrade from RF2 to RF3 without having to delete the existing cluster and create a new one? Stefano

Hi Folks, I`m installing a new also my first AHV(latest version installer-el6.nutanix.20160601.20,with latest AOS4.7.1). I`m new to KVM,as well as AHV. So some problems met, tough time these days. Any help would be highly appreciated, thanks in advance. 4) centos 4.7 guest vm also the guide 《AMF_Guide-AOS_v4_7》 says only support CentOS 6.4, 6.5, 6.6, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2 Is there a support matrix for all the vm guest type ? 7) kvm vm mgmt via Prism there`s too little function for manaing ahv hypervisor and guest vm via prism(it seems only basic vm life-cycle mgmt). Can I add usb device, make an ovf template like vmware vcenter ? I`m not such familiar with virsh, ovs cli tool

Hey all! Just got my 3 node monster Nutanix box up and running and LOVE it! Quick theoretical question though: I blew through my budget on this box, and would LOVE to have a DR setup somewhere else in the building (to combat fire, flood, earthquake, etc.) Could I take some spare hardware lying around, and as long as it meets the specs needed, install the CE version, and make that the DR for my existing paid for version of Nutanix? I've gotten mixed answers from various people is why I ask. Thanks in advance!

I am a bit confused. On the Nutanix support portal, in the Downloads section for Phoenix, it say's, "Phoenix is a tool used to install the Nutanix Controller VM and provision a hypervisor on a new or replacement node in the field. You can download a Phoenix ISO file from this page. Each Phoenix ISO file is for a specific hypervisor and Acropolis base software (NOS) release." But then when filtering, it shows Phoenix versions 2.1.1.1 to 3.0.4 are for Hypervisor "All". And then Phoenix version 2.0.4 has seperate downloads specificlly for KVM, HyperV, or ESXi, depending on which Hypervisor your are deploying. Which Phoenix download are you supposed to use if wanting to deploy an ESXi 5.x or 6.x Hypervisor on the nodes in the field?

We moved a NX3000 to a new environment but one of the nodes died. So we had to reimage that node. The other two where still up and running. But after a power-failure on the rack, the two nodes rebooted but won't come up anymore. Hi, I apologize in advance for the long post !!!! From the information I've reviewed, the Xpress Models (I'm looking at Lenovo's offering) will support a maximum of 4 nodes. In addition there is no Protection Domain. Let's pretend that I'm a cloud provider for multiple customers, and I host their (Domain/File/Print/Email/Sql) servers in my 4 node domain. I want to use an (Acronis/Storagecraft) in VM backup software. These products store their backup images to a NAS/Share. If I setup a second 3 node Xpress Model that is storage "heavy" running Acropolis File Services, as a NAS/Share destination for my backup images, is there any restriction that you can think of that would prevent/limit me from doing this ? Right now we use StorageCraft and save to a Windows Storage NAS that has RAID 10 and I'm concerned that writing to will not be able to handle the I/O? I'm guessing that the 3 node Xpress AFS will easily handle intensive I/O writes. On weekends, the Full backup runs a
