We recently enabled Intelligent Operations. We now have a critical alert saying that “Small Prism Central does not support currently enabled services. Please scale up PC to Large variant.” Before I pull the trigger and scale up to ‘Large’, I need to know if that has any effect on our licensing costs. We are a new Nutanix user (April). Our current licensing is good until Aug 2030.
Hello everyone,I currently have an AOS Pro license and am planning to convert it to NCI Pro. In my environment, I am already using Prism Central, and I understand that Prism Central is required as part of the conversion process. However, I would like to clarify the potential impact if I do not convert the license to NCI Pro before the current AOS Pro license expires.Specifically:Will there be any service disruption or limitation on cluster operations? What features will be affected or disabled after the license expires? Will Prism Central functionality be impacted in any way? Is there any grace period or compliance warning before enforcement?I would appreciate any insights or official references regarding this scenario.
Greetings. We recently inherited a site that has an active subscription of EUC Ultimate licenses. However, after deploying Prism Central and applying the license, Intelligent Ops was disabled and it’s saying it’s not included in EUC Ultimate license. We’re confused as we were under the impression that EUC Ultimate included NCM Starter, which should have Intelligent Ops functionality. Are we misunderstanding that or simply incorrectly applying the EUC Ultimate license to Prism Central? Thanks,
Dear Nutanix Community,We would like to inquire about a general licensing scenario regarding temporary license usage.Currently, we have purchased a new license NCI Starter with a total of 60 cores. Before applying it to the target production cluster, we are considering applying this license temporarily to a separate cluster for initial setup or validation purposes. The scenario we would like to confirm is as follows:1. Apply the new license to a temporary cluster with approximately 60 cores.2. After validation, remove the license from the temporary cluster.3. Re-apply the same license to the intended production cluster. We would like to understand:* Whether this scenario is supported.* If there are any risks or limitations associated with this process.* Any recommended best practices for handling such a temporary license application. This inquiry is intended as a general question regarding licensing flexibility and does not involve specific device details.Thank you for your assistance.
Dear community, This is my 1st post/question here.We are storing raw data on one of our Nutanix Files. For the moment, 100 TiB are licensed on for it but these data are increasing quickly. These are mainly raw data that we need to store for at least 5 years. We also need to be able to access these files without any delay if needed in production. Therefore, we are looking for a way to free up space on Nutanix Files using tiering to be able to store these “cold” data in an S3 bucket with a tiering policy (after 1 year without access/modification, the data will be tiered on S3). This S3 bucket is for example 300Tib big.My question here is: we licenced 100Tib of this Nutanix Files with a NUS Pro licence. Do we also need to licence the 300Tib of storage used as a tiering location? Thanks for your helpLionel
1. What happens if a dark site can't import CSF files and therefore can't convert licenses?2. If I don't currently have PCs installed in my cluster or have a low AOS version that prevents me from applying a new license, is converting my license for now the right way to go?3. I have a cluster configured with NX-3060-G6 NBL licenses. In this case, for the G6 equipment, the EOSL is known to be until January 31, 2020. Are these licenses not extendable or renewable?4. Conversely, if the CBL expires by January 31, will it be possible to renew or convert to 2.0 without any restrictions? There's a lot I don't know about converting licenses.
We are sizing Nutanix HCI with 10 nodes, First cluster with compute having 4 nodes and Second cluster with 6 nodes for Object Storage. We need license suggestions here, and clarity on if we use some of the storage space from second cluster for the VMs do we still need the NUS license, or on first cluster if we use the 194TB for VMs do we need to purchase NUS? Need suggestion if sizing can be optimized. There is GPU as well for 4 compute nodes, which is separately license by Nvidia.
Currently, I have a Nutanix Acropolis PRO (P1.0) license where the ‘Multiple Site DR’ feature is limited. By upgrading the license to P2.0, if I understand correctly, this feature should be unlocked, enabling the possibility of having Multiple Site DR as many-to-many. Is this correct?”Is there anything else you need help with regarding this upgrade?Thank you for your help
There are occasions in which you try to apply licenses and come across the following message:"License class and license mode cannot be appliance and NX-LOD for NCI Ultimate."The reason for this message could be related to the Block/Node configuration or possible LOD to CBL conversion that still has pending actions. Please follow the article we have created to resolve this issue. A full description and further details are covered in the link below.https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/kbs/details?targetId=kA0VO0000005BxJ0AU
You may notice that when converting Mine V2 licenses to NUS Starter licenses in portfolio 2.0, the conversion rate appears to be 50% of the original amount of Mine V2 licenses. Example:50 TiBs of Mine V2 licenses convert to 25 TiBs of NUS licenses. This difference is due to the way Mine V2 licenses and NUS licenses are calculated:Mine V2: Represent raw TiBs of capacity. NUS licenses: Represent usable TiBs of capacity. When converting from Mine V2 licenses to NUS licenses, the conversion rate is 2:1 because NUS account for usable storage capacity, which is about half of the raw storage. This means that for every 2 TiBs of Mine V2 (raw capacity), you will get 1 TiB of NUS (usable capacity). To learn more about Nutanix’s new portfolio, click here: Nutanix Cloud Platform Software Options

In portal, we have a feature where we can tag licenses based on our requirements, to be used on different clusters. However, please be informed that this functionality is only applicable while licensing clusters through Prism Element and not Prism Central. Tag usage for Prism Central licensing is being worked upon and will be available for use in the coming days. However, we have a comprehensive KB on how we can work around this and continue to assign licenses that are tagged while licensing through Prism Central on this KB-16865. As always, should you have any questions or face any issues, please feel free to reach out to us or create a case by writing to portal-accounts@nutanix.com and we will be happy to assist you.

Reclaiming the licenses applied to a cluster is necessary:When you remove one or more nodes from a cluster or move nodes from one cluster to another. First, move the nodes, then re-apply the licenses and reclaim the excess. If you plan to destroy or decommission a cluster. First, reclaim the licenses and then destroy the cluster. A cluster's license must be reclaimed to remove the cluster from the Support & Insights page. If you want to modify or downgrade licenses. For example, when changing from Ultimate to Pro level licenses. The License Manager Guide describes full procedures for this. Once a cluster's licenses have been reclaimed, the cluster can be destroyed and marked as decommissioned on the Support & Insights page in the support portal. These instructions are found in the Acropolis Advanced Administration Guide. Refer to the chapter in the Manually Reclaim Licenses by Unlicensing in the License Manager Guide for the most up-to-date procedures for reclaiming licenses.

For the clusters to be visible while opening a case, there are two criteria. Either pulse has to be enabled. Steps to enable Pulse here. Or the cluster must be licensed completely with valid licenses. It takes anywhere between 6-24 hours for the clusters to reflect in the case creation window after they are relicensed/licensed, or Pulse is enabled.
Hey, just highlighting a few of the latest improvements to the workflow for those of us assisting with license conversions to the latest PnP 2.0 license model. First, a new mechanic was added to calculate and clearly show the NBL to CBL conversion rate (node to cores) when using the “Unapplied Licenses” option. This allows you to do the math and verify what the core count total will be at the end of the conversion and make sure that matches your intended result. You must select the blue “Accept” option in order to move forward to the next page but you can always select the “Back” option if needed. The other improvement to point out which, you can see in the screenshots, you can now convert Prism Central node licenses that may have been left behind due to not being applied to the cluster. The best practice is still to apply as may of the “legacy” Prism Pro/Prism Ultimate licenses to the clusters so the system can get the exact core count, but in the situation where ther
When a new node is added to an existing cluster, an alert will be triggered to notify you. This alert will provide details about the node that is still in an unlicensed state and specify which type of license is missing on the node. The cluster's licenses must be updated to resolve this alert. More info can be found in this KB Generate the Cluster Summary File(CSF) from prism and navigate to Support Portal. Select "Manage Licenses" and upload the CSF Click on "Edit Selection" under the license type which needs to be applied Select the related cluster, click on "Actions" then select "Advanced Licensing" Please note that if there are multiple clusters which need updating you will need to do this step cluster-by-cluster. You will be presented with the the quantity required on screen. Choose "Select Licenses" for each presented tile. If the particular license ID in use has available licenses, unselect in and then select in again so that it takes the required license. If you have
When uploading a cluster summary file into the license portal the error "No compatible products found for the uploaded cluster summary file" is observed. This issue arises when the account has the new licensing model (NCI, NCM, NUS products) and Prism Element (PE) CSF(Cluster Summary File) is used instead of Prism Central (PC) CSF. You must follow the below process to license the cluster: 1. Download and install Prism Central version PC.2022.4 or higher, and register your Prism Element clusters with this PC if you haven't already.2. Download the Prism Central CSF from the licensing page and upload it to the support portal instead of the PE CSF.3. Apply the license and generate the License File (LSF). Then, upload this file back to Prism Central. The minimum requirements of the Acropolis and Prism Central needed for this operation are::Applying cloud platform licenses except for Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) requires that the cluster is running the minimum versions of the following softw

Nutanix has introduced product license enforcement to prevent unauthorized use of Nutanix Software. Below are the main key points regarding the prerequisites and policies: Enforcement will kick-in on a licensed cluster once the cluster is on the below SW releases or later.AOS 6.7.1 PC 2023.4 NCC 4.6.6Enforcement will be implemented in two levels:Day 0 of cluster expiration AOS/NCI: No cluster expansion / No storage creation or update Prism/NCM: Turn off Ops (UI only; except analysis and Dashboard) No Support Day 60 past cluster expiration No upgrades (including security patches) No cluster UI management or monitoring Disable access to NCM features Enforcement is disabled by default: Upgrading to an AOS/PC version will not enable the enforcement.Licensing action is required to enable enforcement: Licensing action is applying or updating licenses of a cluster. Each time a licensing action is executed, the enforcement policy will be updated on the cluster in conjunction with applied
