CPU frequencies in AHV vs in VM

Hello, We have recently set up a new Nutanix infrastructure consisting of two clusters, each with three AHV nodes. The hardware comprises ThinkAgile HX650 V3 CN servers, equipped with Intel(R) Xeon(R) Silver 4416+ CPUs (2GHz, up to 3.9GHz). The BIOS of the AHVs is configured to Performance Schedutil. Our concern is that the VMs are operating at a CPU frequency of 2GHz. Monitoring shows that the CPU frequency never exceeds 2GHz, while the AHV CPUs average around 2.8GHz. Is this behavior a bug, or is it by design? Is there a way to change and increase the CPU frequencies used by the VMs? We are still learning about the Nutanix infrastructure and would appreciate your assistance. Thank you.

VMs on same VLAN unreachable.

Hi new here, I have set up a one node cluster following the Nutanix university videos. I added a subnet with vlan 500 on the the vs0 and installed 2 VMs and connected both to the same subnet however I can not reach any but can reach the CVM & host would there be a step am missing?

Uplink recognition issue on a specific server after initial installation

I have a question. I installed AHV on three servers and successfully configured a cluster. I left the network settings as default during the installation. However, after the setup, when I check the Network Configuration, I notice that on one of the servers, all uplink ports are missing. The strange part is that this doesn’t always happen on the same server — it randomly affects one of the three servers. On the affected server, all uplink ports are shown as disconnected. So I try to configure the bond again by selecting the disconnected uplink ports. When I do this, the server enters maintenance mode and starts a rolling upgrade process, but it never completes — it just stays stuck in a pending state. I checked the server’s BIOS settings, and everything looks normal there. What could be causing this issue?

Request for VDDK 6.0.3 for Nutanix Move

Hello everyone, I am currently facing an issue and need assistance. I am unable to locate and download VDDK 6.0.3, which is required for Nutanix Move to Upload and migrate VMs from vSphere ESXi 5.1. I have already checked the VMware (Broadcom) website, but the minimum version available for download is VDDK 6.7. If anyone has the VDDK 6.0.3 file saved or knows an alternative source for obtaining it, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share it with me.

Hi can these compatibility errors: cause this error: or is this 2 separated issues? where the system/server is not recognized? and if so, i have tried to find a list of supported hdd of the same size, 600gb everything is working, except that i cant upgrade ahv

Prism Central deployement fail

When I go to PrismCentral registration and enter configuration items => deploy, the following message is detected and it will not deploy.~~~~Prism Element is not compatible to enable Microservice Infrastructure: domain name resolution foprism-central.cluster.local failed the domain name resolution is okay , juste DNS server respond =10; How can w e ta ckl e this problem? ~~~~

Can't enable NFS, even after updating to the newest version.

Hello! I’m unable to enable FNS on my test CE nutanix cluster, even after updating both Element and Central to the newest version using LCM. If anyone have any clue of what I’ve done wrong, it would be much appreciated.

How to increase the sinze of Prism Central?

In this single-node hardware environment (24C/384GB/4x800GB) I have installed Nutanix CE 2.1 which work fine. I then wanted to test Prism Central and deployed it in size x-small which turned out to be too small (could not do all fun stuff). How do I increase it to size small instaead? I tried to just add the extra cpus and memory to match the size of small, but that was not enough, it still said that it was x-small. Then I tried to remove PC to create a new larger one, but it wasn’t as easy as I thought. The VM wasn’t possible to delete without deregister but the deregister was blocked but a objects-lite database which wasn’t possible to remove! It just referred to KB-17159 which literally only said “Contact Nutanix support”… But this is CE and I’m just a partner playing around without support… Any procedure for size upgrade of Prism Central? (I searched in the portal but failed)

Is Network Controller supported on Community Editon 2.1?

Hello, just finished installing a new CE 2.1 cluster to experiment a bit, and a new Prism Central. Trying to enable Network Controller, but it says my cluster is not supported. Is this not a feature supported by CE? Or would I have to use a different Prism Central version?

Community Edition, can't reach CVM's when trying to segment backplane LAN

Hi! I’m trying to segment, the backplane LAN on an already existing cluster, it passes the validation, but then I get this error when it gets to about 45% Anyone know what i’m doing wrong?I’m following this documentation Link My CVM’s use 10.10.10.11,21,31 And AHV use 10.10.10.10,20,30 Trying to get the backplane to use a 10.10.11.0/24 on a different physical switch. All ports are VLAN tagged with VLAN11 just like the This is the error I get When looking in the Foundation logs, they fail to ping eachother, but I don’t know what the issue there could be, they are using the correct IP’s and the interfaces are up on both sides.

Can Foundation create clusters in VMware Workstation?

In my struggle to find some environment to practice/test Nutanix admin stuff, I’ve now come to Nutanix Foundation (NCE 2.0 worked but is old, NCE 2.1 failed on some networking issue in my environment). Is it possible to create a small single node cluster running as a VM in VMware Workstation using for example Foundation? I made a few tries but it seemed Foundation required IPMI access to the host, but VMs in VMware don’t have IPMI (to my knowledge). It thought maybe a new VM could be recognized by Foundation (tried both the Windows version and the VM) if it had booted DiscoveryOS, but I couldn’t find the Discovery OS image anywhere… Is there a way forward for an installation like this or is it a dead end?

VM resolution stuck at 1280x1024 after MOVE from ESXi to AHV

We are starting to migrate from ESXi to AHV, using the MOVE application. And as the title says, all the VMs are stuck on 1280x1024 resolution when they come up on AHV. I’ve tried the “Preferred Resolution” change mentioned here Display resolution in Windows Server 2016 (AHV-VM) stuck to 1280x1024 | Nutanix Community I change the Preferred resolution from “<Unset>” to “1920x1080”, but as soon as I exit and boot into Windows, it goes back to 1280x1024 and won’t change. Some posts mention not having Guest Tools installed before the MOVE, but that made no difference for us. I’m stuck at the same resolution, regardless of whether Guest Tools was installed prior to MOVE or not. Nor does the method of access - launch console or RDP, the VM resolution is hard coded to this annoyingly small (by 21st century standards) resolution. And all my VMs are UEFI, which is pretty much the default. And obviously that can’t be changed, without deleting the whole VM. Is there any workaround or resolution (s

Updating tools results in hanging at uefi upon reboot. Has to be power cycled to then boot to Windows Server

SCSI disk 100gb, 16gb mem, Server 2016 standard desktop experience, dual xeon icelake Likely other configurations, as this has happened with multiple VMs, still collecting data, but wanted to get something started in case others have experience with this. My first thought is obviously some uefi configuration with boot order or something, but doesn’t really make sense, since it only *seems to happen* right after tool updates. *updated as it’s not like we reboot often, maybe it will happen without updating as well.

How to install Nutanix CE 2.1 in Dell server T350

Dear Team, I have Dell server T350 with 3 HDD of 2TB and 32GB of memory and 4 Core server. I want to deploy Nutanix AHV(Hypervisor) to that server and provision some VMs for LAB. I have downloaded Nutanix CE 2.1 ISO and loaded to USB, cant move ahead of installation after disk selection. Kindly advise on this!!

Nutanix CE Installation Issue - InstallerVM Timeout

Hello Nutanix Community, I'm trying to install Nutanix Community Edition (CE), but I'm encountering an InstallerVM timeout issue. The installation keeps retrying, and the hypervisor setup does not complete successfully. My hardware setup: 1 HDD (480GB) → Intended for data storage. 1 SSD (2.8TB) → Assigned to CVM storage. 1 USB Drive (32GB) → Used for the hypervisor installation. Issue Description: The installation starts but gets stuck with repeated messages: INFO Hypervisor installation in progress INFO InstallerVM timeout occurred, current retry 0 I have already disabled RAID and set the SATA mode to AHCI in the BIOS. The disks are correctly recognized when using lsblk and fdisk -l. I tried wiping the disks (wipefs -a and dd if=/dev/zero), but the issue persists. Troubleshooting Attempts: Checked system RAM → I have more than 32GB available. USB Boot Media → I recreated the bootable USB with a fresh Nutanix CE ISO.

Duplicated CVM machine?

Hello, After 3 node cluster deployment, I can see 4 CVMs. Two of them looks like the same VM but duplicated. How to fix it and remove one of them? I cannot update vs0 on the node where two CVMs are placed.AHV/CVM reboot did not help. Filed to start systems management device drivers.

I have been trying to install Nutanix phoenix. But everytime i try to install it i run into the same error instsvcdrv.service not being able to start. I have tryed to find the file on the system and start it without any luck. I downloade ce from here = Download Community Edition | Nutanix Community The full line says = Failed to start systems Management Device Drivers.See ‘systemctl status instsvcdrv.service’ for more details. The only other ones i found on here with the same problem was Nutanix CE fails to install | Nutanix Community

How to find vlanid for cvm with VMware HV

Hi, i have to extend a Cluster with ESXi7 HV, and in the foundation Software i have to fill in the vlanid for the cvm. I guess this is the default vlan, so with AHV i knew the commands to find out the vlanid, but with ESXI i have no experience. So could someone tell the the comands to find out the vlanid ? fresh install -> cvm cluster created/started, all services

I have a fresh install of CE 2.1. Single node - Intel S2600GZ (Dual E5-2650). LSI 2380 HBA. All SSD RAID10 disks. 4x1G Intel NICs. ~400G for CVM/Data. I create the single node cluster ...waited 2 hours and cluster services are still down. Hi, trying to install a new CE cluster to do some testing, and after I use the cluster -s cvm1_ip_addr,cvm2_ip_addr,... create command, it just gets stuck on the image I’ve inserted. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

One Click Prism Central Deployment is Failing because of timeout

Hi Team I am trying to setup Prism Central in Nutanix CE. I have configured the required details in Prism Console for deploying prism central. My deployment is failing repeatedly and getting the error saying it’s failed in tarball extraction phase. I have tried multiple times and every time I saw the issue in UI. I went through the /home/nutanix/data/logs/genesis.out logs to get more details on the issue. I found something interesting there. When we start the Prism central deployment, it first tried to download the prism central tarball and unzip it. One it’s unzipped then it’s start to convert the qcow2 file to image. when it start to convert the qcow2 → image , the command is configured with a timeout of 1800 sec. Hello, We are working on provisioning and deploying Cisco Firepower Threat Defense Virtual (FTDv) on Nutanix AHV using an API-based approach. Previously, we used Nutanix API for ASAv deployment, and now we want to validate whether FTDv can be fully provisioned using Nutanix API alone, without requiring manual steps during deployment as discussed in following https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/firepower/quick_start/consolidated_ftdv_gsg/ftdv-gsg/m-ftdv-nutanix-gsg.html. What We Are Trying to Achieve: Upload Cisco FTDv Image – Since FTDv requires a QCOW2 image, we need to upload it to Nutanix Image Service first. Deploy FTDv VM – We must create a VM using the uploaded FTDv image and assign networking. Apply Day-0 Configuration (Cloud-Init) – FTDv requires a Day-0 file (for IP, DNS, authentication, and FMC registration). Core Licensing Issue on Cluster

We are planning to renew license for below nodes Nutanix(HCI) NX-1265-G7-2 Nodes Nutanix(HCI) NX-8135-G7-3 Nodes But in the same cluster we have four G5 nodes as well, When we try to apply core license through PC, It doesn’t allow us to only license G7 nodes and we need to select all the cores from all the nodes, It seems that we need to separate the G7 nodes from the cluster just for the licenses to apply, Are we missing anything ?

How to enable network port forwarding on Nutanix AOS/AHV server?

Looking for best practices or examples for enabling port-forward traffic from Nutanix AOS/AHV hypervisor to the VM. Here is my setup: Successfully provisioned Nutanix AOS/AHV hypervisor on the PowerEdge server. Enabled OS to iDRAC passthrough using PowerEdge iDRAC settings as per the document Accessing redfish API via OS-iDRAC interface is successful as shown below: # curl -k https://169.254.0.1/redfish/v1{"@odata.context":"/redfish/v1/$metadata#ServiceRoot.ServiceRoot" …., Next step I would like to perform similar redfish query from the VMs. How do I enable port-forward using NAT on AOS/AHV; so that PowerEdge iDRAC redfish service network is accessible from VM?
