Is there an option to Pin to SSD in AOS v4.7 with vSphere hypervisor?

Hey I'm a little confused by the Roles in self service portal. It looks like you can have only one role per Project. Is this true? If so, how would i go about giving only certain users ability to create VMs in a Project while having others being able to login and see the VMs in the same Project. Also, it looks like if one user creates a VM in a project then other users don't have the ability to see those VMs. The only way i've found to see all the VMs in one Project is if you happen to be a Cluster admin. Am I just missing something? Thanks!

Is there any chance of being able to use built in backup to work with Backblaze B2? Is there any feature request to have this done? It is much cheaper than Amazon or Azure.

Hi, Running 3 node Lenovo HX1310 with AHV 5.01. I will be opening a ticket with Nutanix support. This more of an FYI.... First saw this issue with and SBS 2011 Standard (aka Windows 2008 R2 x64). After migrating from Hyper-V 2012 R2. I was/am having issues where the system would freeze. I first thought it was ShadowProtect backups causing, but then it started happening late at night. I think its the WBengine Service (aka Block Level Backup). I setup a fresh test Windows 2008 R2 with 2 volumes, C: and E:. When I ran chkdsk on the c: drive it gets to the end, stage 3 of 3, and then the VM powers off. I have to start it manually. So I tried it on the E: that has no data is freshly formatted. I run chkdsk, and the VM powers off. Update:Just tried the same chkdsk /f on a Windows 2012R2 server and the same symptoms appear. Thanks in Advance, G

Is there a way to rename the CVM Container without rebuilding the container? The vendor who recently re-installed the Nutanix Block didn't follow the directions and named the container incorrectly. The container has 4 Virtual Servers running on them and I would like to preserve these systems without the need of rebuilding them. Could I place each VM in the Local NTNX-local-ds (SSD) datestore since the 50GB available is larger than each VM? Then Destroy the Container and Recreate it? Thanks,David

Hello, I am receiving the following alert: "Old generation AWS instance is configured for remote site AWS. Follow KB 3861 to change the instance type to m3.2xlarge and cloud CVM configuration for better RPO/RTO." The remote site was configured only about a week ago and it spun up an instance size of m2.2xlarge. I cannot find any reference to the KB article 3861, or anything about changing the instance size. Does anyone have any ideas? Many thanks, Daniel

Hello, Could anyone offer ideas around how to manage the log truncation for applications like Exchange/SQL when moving to CloudConnect from a product that used to perform that automatically? I'm looking into backing up our Nutanix Acropolis cluster to either Azure or AWS. What I'm curious about are the actual costs once you factor in not just their basic storage rate, but Puts and data writes and everything that happens during a backup and restore (rare as those would be). We have around 5 TB total with all our VMs, with the daily snapshots averaging around 40GB in changed data. We would want to retain maybe a month's worth of backups with dailies and weeklies. Is this enough data to do a decent estimate, or is it one of those 'Try and see' scenarios? I'd be interested in anybody else that's utilizaing it as a remote backup site and what kinds of costs they're seeing. Thanks! Clint

Can know impact of SSD failure if each node has 2 SSDs in slot0 & slot1: 1. Slot0 SSD failure 2. Slot1 SSD failure 3. Both SSDs failure (Know this will be CVM failure)

If I add one additional node with 512 GB ram to my existing cluster which consisit of 3 nodes of 256 GB each, how N+1 will be calculated?

Need to know when we say RF2 how many copies of data A will be created? one copy i.e. one primary original data & secondary one. Or one primary orignal data & 2 secondary copies.

As a pre-step to a planned failover, I want to take a snapshot of each of my Metro PD's (4 total). Together, they are over 5 TB in used storage. Since they're all in the same Storage Pool I plan on doing one at a time so as to not compound the i/o load - does this make sense? Also, can anyone provide a *rough* estimate of how long a PD snapshot should take to complete? Thanks!

As far as I know, the only certified backup software is commvault... but I was wondering if AHV/prism can do vm-level backup and which are the features (guest/application consistency, possibility to file level restore ecc....) and differences compared to Commvault. Is it ok to install Nutanix Guest Tools in a guest vm template before the template is Sysprepped? I need to deploy a bunch of Server 2008 r2 VMs that will need NGT. I'm aware that it's easy to automate NGT install AFTER vm deployment and I do that for most cases; however on Server 2008 r2 builds there's a techinical limitation that prevents this from working. So I'm wondering if there is anything in NGT that will break if the vm is Sysprepped afterward.

Hi, We just fired up a 3 node cluster HX1310 with AHV. Trying to keep things lean and mean... When a Windows guest needs more CPU, is it "better" to go with more vcores or more vcpu in AHV? I'm asking from a performance perspective and perhaps licensing perspecitve..... Thanks, G

The customer I currently support has a pair of Nutanix clusters running on the Dell PowerEdge XC630-10 harward platform. They have really enjoyed the performance and overall gain (simplicity of the design, reduction in administration/alerts, etc.) since moving to the Nutanix platform. The topic of a server refresh has arisen, and we're beginning to collect all the different metrics we will need to analyze to support this effort. After that's done, though, the planning and designing will begin. In the past, I've used the Nutanix Sizer. That since seems to be locked away behind a Nutanix/Partner Login page now? Does this still exist? Is there one that supports the Dell hardware platform line? Any other workload sizing resources for the theoretical migration planning would be much appreciated. We've setup Prism Central long time ago and everything works in the Prism Central since it's Active Directory Integrated. We can also login using the Admin account in the Portal. How can we change the Prsim Central CVM Password if we no longer can access it.

Hi All, I upgraded our single node cluster last night, and it went pretty smooth. However, today I am noticing placeholder text (i.e. "vm_critical_alerts" instead of "Critical Alerts" and many, many fields coming back simply as undefined. Is this a known issue or did something go awry during upgrade? I am trying to find a download link for AOS 4.7.3.1. It looks like only 4.7.3.3 is available. Where would I find a link to download older AOS versions?

What is the best approach to migrate data to a nutanix hyper-v failover cluster from a normal hyper-v failover cluster. I used export from the old host (Whitelisted in PRISM) and it succeeds fine but as the data is exported to the cluster FQDN, how do I know which node to use to import the files to make best use of data locality? is there a way to have the VM exported to a specific node?

Hi all We have a small DEV 3 node lab to test features before moving forward, one feature in 5.0 we are looking forward too is the Self service portal, after upgrading to 5.0 I have selected the SSP which then asks for an ldap user, although this user authenticates correctly from Prism / Authentication / test When entering the same user in the cresentials for SSP I get the following error; Server with access directory url:ldaps://****** is down Has anyone seen this? is ldaps supported? as mentioned it works for Prism authentication This clutser is not under support, we are looking at a dev support option for this currently but we do have many other clusters Thanks Jason

This is very minor but I wanted to get it out there. I'm running PrismCentral 4.7.3.3 to manage 6 clusters - each of those other 6 clusters are at AOS 4.7.3.1 however, in PrismCentral, under 'Explore', 'Clusters', the AOS version is still showing as the original version. It's been several weeks like this now (see below). My Name Rizki, you can call me R.P so here my problem, i'm strugle when i try to install/reimaging block NX-1065-g5 my component to reimaging this is AOS 4.7.3.3 Foundation 3.6 Hypervisor AHV-20160601.44 from what i know in compatibility matrix is the component compatible but... i strugle when i reach 12%imaging, it stuck at "preparing blablaba installer" anybody can advice me? or do you any solution Thanks R.P
