Hello Team,While deploying the cluster using Foundation Tool, is there any way to provide pre-reserved CVM names anywhere before initiating the cluster build process through this tool?If not, how can change the name of CVM (inside OS) after cluster got built? How much risky is this process? You feedback/help in this matter will be highly appreciated. -Anil 

Hi,I need to deploy a Nutanix Files service on a 3-node AHV cluster. The goal is to replace an old Windows File Server, so once the deployment is done I will need to migrate all the data to the new Nutanix Files setup.While reviewing the Nutanix documentation, I’m a bit confused about the deployment requirements. Specifically: How many IP addresses are required for Nutanix Files in this scenario? From what I understand, the minimum seems to be around 7 IPs 3 for FSVMs 1 for Data Service 1 for VIP 1 or 2 for internal services Why is it recommended to place those IPs in a separate subnet/VLAN? I’m not sure if this is mandatory or just a best practice. Thanks.

Hello, I have installed a 2 Node cluster using nutanix foundation VM with witness node as a tie breaker in dell xc4510 and everything is running fine. I have created multiple production VM. I have an another host with same hardware configuration and want to convert 2 node to 3 node cluster. I want to know the best procedure to achieve this.

Hi all,I have 2 sites with a cluster in each site. The workloads are distributed between each cluster. I currently have one Prism Central managing both clusters.I have DR configured to a passive site hosted by a 3rd party in a datacenter in different region.There are resources on each cluster available, so now I want to configure DR between the clusters. At least for the critical VM’s. This should allow me to failover the critical servers quickly if only one site goes down. I’ll use the passive site if both go down.I’m assuming I will need to deploy another PC on the cluster that doesn’t currently have one. Ideally, I still want to manage both clusters from the primary PC in the co-lo facility. Is this possible? Or do I have to unregister the remote cluster from the current PC first then register it to the newly deployed PC then deal with managing each cluster from a different PC?I also read that I should be able to deploy the new PC directly from PE via the “Deploy New Prism Central”

Hi, we are new Nutanix customers coming from VMWare. I’ve migrated about 450 VM’s over and everything is going smoothly, however when it comes to Linux appliances I have some questions. On VMWare, vendors would send us an OVA which included VMWare tools baked into the appliance. I’m noticing that vendors who supply QCOW2’s, or even OVA’s if they don’t have a QCOW2 file, don’t have NGT baked into the image. When I ask the vendor how to install NGT, they say it’s not supported, even though on VMWare, they had VMWare tools supported.Is it typical for vendor linux appliances to not support NGT? How do I get VSS working on these appliances with NGT so that my backup solution can take app-consistent snapshots? Also, I hate looking in PC and seeing VM’s without any OS because NGT isn’t installed.

I’m trying to enable File Analytics for my Files instance, but I keep getting the error: “Can’t connect to provided domain” when attempting domain join.Here’s my setup and what I’ve verified so far:Environment: AD server, Files server, and File Analytics server are all deployed within the same cluster. Files Configuration: SMB authentication is enabled under Authentication. Administrator account is configured under Manage Roles. Connectivity Checks: From the File Analytics console, I can successfully ping the AD server and perform nslookup for name resolution. Despite these checks, enabling File Analytics for Files still fails with the domain connection error. I’m running out of ideas at this point.Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Are there specific settings or configurations I should double-check? Any guidance or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated.

We are currently Migrating over our servers using move and now our patch management system is reporting issues with the current version of VirtIO I can see that move is still using 1.2.4.6 is there a way to update this.

Hello evb,in a 3-host Nutanix Cluster (AOS 6.10,1 and AHV v.20230302.103003) I have one of the 3 hosts with the [/var] filled up at 92% (2.5GB on 2.9GB)The cluster is up’n’running and was OK until this warning raised by the ncc checks (v 5.1.0)Most of the space is used by:6565632 /var/log4502260 /var/log/sa2546588 /var/lib2406748 /var/lib/puppet2406072 /var/lib/puppet/reports2241772 /var/lib/puppet/reports/HOSTNAMEIn the last dir I have more than 90K [.YAML] files (of about 20KB each and created every 2 or 3 minutes, starting from the first host setup), while in the other 2 hosts I have only 14 [.yaml] files.File names are in the form yyyymmddhhmm.yamlWhat are they used for?Is it safe to delete the oldest ones?TIAPaolo 

Hi all,I have some NX-3155G-G7s which were purchased from Nutanix some time ago and the business has stopped using the Nutanix HV OS and the support contract that went with it.I am looking to upgrade the BIOS and firmware etc. on the servers and am having a hard time finding helpful information on how to go about it exactly.Is it possible to find the correct instructions on how to go through this on the platform along with the relevant binary downloads please?Sadly, the business has no appetite to renew their support contract with Nutanix so I’m in a bit of a bind.It would be super helpful if anyone has any information on this.Thanks in anticipation

I have a host I need to re-assign to other purposes. This host is part of an AOS cluster, running ESXi as a hypervisor. So basically, I need to remove the host from the ESXi cluster, then also gracefully remove it from the AOS cluster, so I can re-use the hardware elsewhere. Ive been reading this page:https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Web-Console-Guide-Prism-v7_3:wc-removing-node-pc-c.htmland it’s still unclear to me. It sems I have to first remove the host from the ESXi cluster (I can look up how to do that), but the instructions on how to then gracefully remove the node from the AOS cluster aren’t clear (to me). I’ve opened a ticket with Support, but while I wait for them, does anyone have any experience doing this? Or a page with step-by-step screenshots, perhaps? I’ve had to remove an ESXi host from a cluster once (long, long ago), but have never done so in an AOS cluster.Thanks! 

So we installed a Nutanix three-node cluster at our primary datacenter a couple years back. We had always been a VMWare/ESXi shop, and we needed a new cluster to replace the aging Cisco UCS we had running on ESXi.We debated when we installed it whether we should go with AHV, or if we should stick with ESXi on the new cluster. We ended up going with ESXi because of familiarity and trust. About three months later, Broadcom bought VMWare and the pricing went all the way through the roof and into outer space.We just installed a second three-node Nutanix cluster at our secondary datacenter, for primarily DR purposes. It's functionally identical to the original, just one model later, I think. This one is also replacing an aging Cisco UCS running ESXi. I am trying to install ubuntu 24.04 and Almalinux 8.10 . in Both case console show “Press F2 to EFI Boot manager”. I tried to press F2 but not success. I am set UEFI boot. Help me Please. 

I have purchased a PowerEdge R7615 with some of the additional things in it. I have purchased that hardware to install Nutanix Foundation. Below are the list of hardware which I have.Processor - AMD EPYC 9124 3.0GHz, 16C/32T, 64M Cache (200W) DDR5-4800 - 1 QTYMemory Capacity  - 32GB RDIMM, 5600MT/s, Dual Rank  - 2 QTYRAID/Internal Storage Controllers - PERC H755 Adapter, Low Profile - 1 QTY SSD - 800GB SSD SAS ISE, Mixed Use, up to 24Gbps 512e 2.5in with 3.5in HYB CARR, AG Drive - 1Hard Drives - 1.2TB Hard Drive SAS ISE 12Gbps 10k 512n 2.5in with 3.5in HYB CARR - 2 QTYEmbedded Systems Management - iDRAC9, Enterprise 16G - 1 QTY. I have missing hardware, and I believe that Nutanix works with additional hardware,  HBA355i Storage Controller, instead of RAID Controller and It also requires BOSS-CONTROLLER 480 GB. I will upgrade the hardware with these material. I have doubt on the SSD part, will 1 X 800 GB SSD and 2 X 1.2 TB HDD, allows me to install Nutanix Foundation,. 

I would like to attempt PCIe passthrough of a QLogic 2662 Fiber HBA to my Windows Server 2025 Nutanix Virtual Machine so that the device shows up in device manager, but I am unable to find clear documentation on PCIe passthrough.

HiWhen I start a VM on my Nutanix server I never get display output. Why is that the case or what am I doing wrong?

Looks like there is no ready-to-use image available for NKP 2.16 in the Downloads. For NKP Starter users, what is the update process now if we want to move from 2.15 to 2.16?Documentation does not have any information on the concrete steps, some references are to using the NKP Image builder but even that is unclear. 

I am trying to create windows 11 on AOS 6.5.1 with AHV 20230302.101026 but failing with this error.  

HeyAnyone also having issues loading modules on Nutanix University today?Tested a few, but they just stuck at loading the module.Also my dashboard is blank.
