Hello Nutanix Community,I am developing a self-service runbook (python scripts) in Prism Central to implement a time-based GPU billing model, allowing administrators to attach a GPU to a VM for a specific duration.The Core QuestionIs there a supported or known method (API-driven or otherwise) to dynamically populate a Runbook Input Variable (specifically a List of Values/Dropdown) at runtime, based on a query to the Prism API?For example: Could a pre-run script execute a gpus/list query to determine available vGPU profiles and format that output to populate the options list for the gpu_profile_selection variable before the form is presented to the user?

Hi everyone,I am creating a Multi VM Blueprint and I have a post-creation task. This task should be executed once per deployment, but since it is a post-VM-creation task, it is executed n times for n deployed machines from the blueprint.Do you have any ideas how to make the the task execute only once after the deployment of the application, and not multiple times for every VM?Thanks in advance!

Hi Community,We are working on enhancing our automation flows in Nutanix Self-Service blueprints and would like some guidance on the best way to approach two things:Enable memory overcommit automatically for every VM deployed from a blueprint: Our goal is that VMs should always have this applied at deployment time without requiring manual adjustment later. Ensure category assignment is mandatory for deployed VMs: We would like to implement a check so that if a VM doesn’t have a category assigned during creation, the workflow requires a category before it can proceed. Is there a preferable script type or approach for implementing these checks and automations within Self-Service? Any suggestions on best practices - especially regarding script selection - would be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Dear Sir/Madam, I have built-up a lab for Nutanix & PA for flow & micro-segmentation test.After created a bluepoint and deploy the PA NVFs VM success, but I can’t find and don’t know how to set rule for app-tier to app-tier and redirect through a service chain in “Security Policy”. Please advise Environment:Nutanix CE, AHV 10, AOS 7, PC 2024.3.1, FNS NG 4.2, Network Controller 5 and enabled Micro-segmentation...etc.

Hi everyone, In our environment, we want everyone (not just members of a specific project) to be able to launch a given blueprint when needed. Right now, blueprints appear to require being tied to a project, which limits visibility and use. Is there a way to make a blueprint globally accessible to all users/groups without restricting it to one project? Or assign the blueprint to multiple projects?Also, we’d like to enforce category assignment as part of the VM creation process. Ideally, users should be required to select or fill in a category value before deploying a VM. Can this be achieved somehow?Thanks in advance! 

Hi everyone, I am trying to figure out a way to import projects into Prism. I got stuck when I read there is a limit for projects number based on the environment, with a maximum of 500 projects. Is there a way to have more than 500, specifically almost a 1000 and will probably be growing? Any advice here will be appreciated! 

Hello everyone,I would like to know if Nutanix NCM Self-Service supports a feature that allows setting a VM expiration option during the VM or blueprint creation request, enabling the VM to expire after a specified time interval automatically. Or if it does not support, can we schedule it on Day-2 Operation features? Thank you!

HeyIn Calm (Script that I have in old lab, AOS v6.5) My script (part in blueprint) use REST API and ip is used as localhost: Now, In self-Service not accepted localhost (security reasoning).In Self-Service Administration and Operations Guide I see some script that use @@{pc_ip}@@ but this is not real variable.Is there any alternative to get the Prism Central IP and use it in my script? since I use the same script in many PC, It not good practice to hard coded the IP..alternatively: is there a way to get the cluster list (instead use API)? Thanks

Hi sir I have three devices. Model is NX-1175S-G8The networks of the three NXs will be connected to a 10G switch.This 10G switch will be connected to a 1G switch.Each NX is connected to the switch with two network cables.The function is to use NCM. However, after setting up more than 30 VMs, the network will be disconnected seriously. It is found that it will be stuck on the 10G switch. However, if the port connected to NX is limited to 1G, it will work normally.But the device will send out a warning message.CVM not uplinked to 10GbE NICIt was detected that the Nutanix packets were very large, causing the 10G switch to be unable to handle the load.(about 1.61Gbps)Because there is only one line going up to the 1G switchI have tried another brand of 10G switch, but the problem is the same.If the 10G switch and the 1G switch do not use lacpHow can I a

Hi!I’m looking for an out of the box integration of AAP to import/install in the Self Service, to get inventories, credentials, job templates, … from our AAP, to be able to launch job templates from Self Service (and retrieve the result of jobs :)). This way I can automate some tasks, like post-provisioning tasks after VM deployment or some day2 actions.Regards,Fred

Hi, I am interested in using Nutanix Calm DSL to automate certain Calm tasks, specifically updating our existing applications to use python3 escripts instead of python2. I noticed that the docker tags for DSL only run from v3.7.0. May I know if there is a minimum version of Nutanix Calm that DSL needs to run on? We are using Calm v3.5.2 at the moment and I don’t have an environment with a later version to try out DSL. Thanks.

Hi guys,New runbook.I’ve added a variable with escript that gets a list from DB (using a credential object to connect to the DB)Very simple and straightforwardwhen executing the runbook the variable populates the list and everything is working fine.Unfortunately, after publishing it to the marketplace (with the ‘Publish with secrets’ on) it will give this error upon execution:Warning: These variables cannot be resolved: DBUser.username, DBUser.secretI really can’t understand why it isn’t workingDid someone encounter this behavior? what was your solution?Thanks!

Hi,I upgraded Calm vm from 3.7.2.1 to 3.7.2.2 but now I read from release notes of calm vm 3.8 that isn’t possible to upgrade from 3.7.2.2 to 3.8.How can I safetely remove calm vm 3.7.2.2 and reinstall the version 3.8?Thanks Regards

Hi,I used calm vm 3.7.2.2, it worked fine for a couple of days but now I receive error when deploy a blueprint and also when I tried to delete or soft delete the existing one.Nothing logged.

I am looking for a way to protect the VMs that I’ve stood in as Applications in Calm/Self Service from accidental deletion (mostly by me). I don’t see a way to do this in any areas of Prism or Calm, and I don’t see anything in the Policy Manager docs that would address it, either. Is there any kind of pattern or feature for this? Thanks

I initially developed a Jenkins pipeline to launch Calm blueprints using the raw API, which works, but i hadn’t yet figured out how to pass runtime params to it.It was then that i found the Jenkins plugin, which simplifies the process significantly. It is easy to pass values to the app variables that are exposed in the blueprint. What i don’t see is the ability to pass runtime-editable fields. For example, i can set an App Variable for a user-supplied value, via the plugin. But I don’t see a way to set, for example, the `vCPUs` field that I have marked as a runtime field.It is available to set when launching the Blueprint via the Prism UI, but is it possible to set these fields using the Jenkins Plugin?PS: i am also unclear how to set params via the raw API, but i’ll ask that in a separate topic.

When setting up my blueprints, i want to lock down most of the configuration to prevent user error. I basically only want a user to be able to adjust the cores, RAM, and size of the data disk. So, i’m clicking the running-person icons to set them to black, meaning not-user-changeable. However, when i Save the change, it goes back to blue. I can’t get the user modifiable/not-modifiable config to stick. Am i missing something here? Thanks!

Back in my VMware vRA days, we could set VMs to expire and delete themselves after a set period of time, called a Lease. This prevented test VMs lasting too long and using up resources unnecessarily. The default was seven days, and it could be extended or set as desired by the users if a VM was needed for longer. Is there a way to configure a similar mechanism in CALM/Self Service?

I would like to create variables that are reusable in blueprints - things like package store URI, proxy URL, etc. I don’t think it makes sense to define these in every blueprint, as they’re identical; we want to keep that kind of thing DRY.The docs state that Variable Types defined in the Library are reusable across blueprints. But if I define MY_VAR as a new Variable Type with a value, it has no value when expanded in a blueprint script as @@{MY_VAR}@@. What is the trick to defining these vars at the Library level and using them in Blueprints? Thanks!
