Nutanix Calm API request returns incorrect task UUID

I am currently using Nutanix Calm API v3. After creating a crash-consistent VM recovery point using the POST endpoint /api/nutanix/v3/mh_vms/{vm_uuid}/snapshot and verifying that it exists on Prism Central, I attempted to revert the VM to this recovery point using the POST endpoint /api/nutanix/v3/mh_vms/{vm_uuid}/revert using the recovery point uuid in req body. The response has 200 status code but the task reference returned has task_uuid value of ‘something’. I also cannot see any alerts on PC indicating that the VM revert task has been attempted. May I know if anyone has experienced this issue before and how I might rectify this issue? Im not sure how to proceed since the API request appears to be successful. In particular, I would like to understand the circumstances under which Calm API returns tasks with uuid value of ‘something’. Thanks!

Cannot revert VM from recovery point on Prism Central

I have attempted to create a VM recovery point on Prism Central and revert it from the recovery point. However, I am getting an info-level message that the recovery point is degraded and that the recovery Point for VM failed to capture associated policies and categories because the network name is not available for the VM.The VM revert task also does not seem to have been executed as there is no event confirming success. The VM is created from a blueprint that is part of a project with a configured VPC, and I have already verified that there are no issues in connection between PC and PE. May I know possible reasons for why this is happinening and how I might resolve this? I have consulted the link https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/kbs/details?targetId=kA00e000000CyDeCAK but it seems to be targeted at VMs running on ESXi, our VMs run on AOS/AHV. Thanks!

Changing the Hostname Using the VMname Generated by Blueprint?

Calm containers are Unhealthy

Hi everyone, i have a trouble with this error: the alert also sent a notification about this error: Discovered that the nucalm internal service is not working: “helios” I restarted all cluster service but there is no change. Then i checked my nutanix docker to log infomations about that, it showed helios still was running. And i follow KB-8621 to collect log of helios.log.1 with the same time in alert, it showed:So anyone can tell me what is the problem with my Calm service? I so appreciate to receive your helps.

How to disable Calm

I turned on a trial of calm in my cluster, but never really did anything with it.  I’ve searched and searched but I’ve been unsuccessful in finding how to disable it. Can someone point me in the right direction?Thanks!

OpenLDAP with Prism Central + Prism Self Service (Calm)

Hello,Prism Central documentation supports OpenLDAP 2.4 release running on CentOS distributions only.Question ....I take it that Red Hat LDAP is not supported in Prism Central, correct?Can I only use OpenLDAP 2.4 with CentOS and cannot use OpenLDAP 2.5.13 (LTS) with CentOS?In Prism Self Service (Calm) documentation I find reference to Active Directory.Question ...In Calm can I work with OpenLDAP or only with Microsoft Active Directory?In a cluster with Prism Central + Prism Self Service (Calm) do I have to implement Microsoft Active Director only?

Virtual Machine Disk - usage_stats - calm v2.0

Implemented the Calm v2.0 API, have to retrieve the usage_stats(used and free space) of the virtual machine’s disks by using calm v2.0 API. Haven’t found usage_stats in the response for the API api/nutanix/v2.0//virtual_disks/{uuid}. Is there any other way to get these stats by using calm v2 or v1 but not v3.

Where can I find the UUID of a single-VM blueprint app profile?

Hi all.I have a single-VM blueprint that I want to launch using the “Launch blueprint” API call. The schema for this call requires that I specify an app profile UUID but no matter where I look, I can’t find any reference to this UUID, neither in the UI nor via API calls.To be fair, I haven’t gone through every single API call so there might still be one that eludes me.How do I know what app profile UUID to include in my payload when using the “Launch blueprint” API call?Thanks!

Can't Enable Nutanix Calm

Hi, I have a trouble to enable Nutanix Calm when I try to deploy it, I checked NCC and everything run well but in Calm the Precheck failed: “ PC to 0005e2ce-d78a-2724-0000-00000000e308 host cluster health check is not OK. Please check if cluster is accessible from PC ”.My Prism Central version is 5.20.4.5 LTS - Starter License

How do I launch a blueprint with a project reference?

Hi all!I’m guessing I’m missing something obvious here, but I can’t figure it out so I’m hoping that the community can give me a helping hand. :)I want to launch a blueprint using the /blueprints/{uuid}/launch API call as the “simple launch” call doesn’t do what I want. I want to automatically associate the new application with a project and as far as I can tell I have to use the “normal launch” for that.I grabbed the exact payload that Prism Central/Calm sends and have spent half a day trying to clean it up so that I can re-use it, but this is where I get nowhere. If I remove too much, I get an error directly from the API but most of the time I can submit the request without errors.Compounding the issue is that there is nothing showing in the Tasks-indicator in Prism Central, not even an error or a warning, after I sent in the call - there is simply no trace at all of the task I just created.If I check the pending launch details with the /blueprints/{uuid}/pending_launches/{launched_u

How can I use multiple endpoints in the same runbook or blueprint?

Hi all!I’m writing a runbook with tasks that needs to use different endpoints from different Nutanix Projects. This seems to be impossible, so I want to check in with the community to see if I’m doing something wrong. :)I can create an endpoint without “assigning” it to a specific project, but this doesn’t matter since I have to define a project when creating a runbook. This means that I can only use endpoints that are assigned to the project the runbook is using.An endpoint can only be assigned to one project so assigning an endpoint to multiple projects is not an option.One possible (as well as very clunky and cumbersome) workaround would be to create identical endpoints for every project that needs access to it, but all endpoints must be uniquely named which makes this even more of a nightmare.Is what I want to do at all possible?Thanks.

Performing Inventory and Upgrading Calm with Life Cycle Manager

 Use LCM to display the software and firmware versions of the entities in the cluster.ProcedureIn Prism Central, click the gearbox icon to open the Settings page and select Life Cycle Management in the sidebar. Upgrading Calm VM with Lifecycle Manager

You can upgrade to newer versions of Calm without performing a VM upgrade. Upgrades to most minor releases and few major releases are done using the LCM method.LCM performs inventory and Calm/Epsilon upgrade operations fail using the default LCM URL. The workaround is to replace the LCM repository URL to http://download.nutanix.com/lcm/saas under the LCM > Settings.To upgrade Calm VM using the LCM method, do the following: Procedure Click Administration > LCM to open the LCM page. Click Perform Inventory.A confirmation window appears. Click Proceed.The Perform Inventory process can take several minutes depending on your cluster size. Generate ssh keys for User logon for Calm 3.3.1

Since updating to Calm 3.3.1 ssh keys for user auth that worked with my blueprints in Calm 3.2.6 are being rejected with an error message that the key is not encrypted. The keys were created with Windows 10 openssh and worked just fine until the update. Can anyone tell me how to create ssh keys that Calm 3.3.1 will accept?

How does Calm execute PowerShell on an endpoint?

Hi all!In an attempt to solve a problem with “round-tripping” JSON I’ve concluded that the only fix is to use PowerShell 7 since the ConvertTo-Json cmdlet in version 7 allows me to escape the troublesome characters.This solution might just be me robbing Peter to pay Paul though as I now face the issue of getting Calm to use PowerShell 7 instead of the default 5.1 (a.k.a. Windows PowerShell).I’ve gone so far to set the default PowerShell remote endpoint (windows.powershell) to point to PSH 7, which works if I do a traditional Enter-PSSession but not if I execute a PowerShell script in a Calm runbook.Which leads up to the title of this topic, how does Calm execute PowerShell on an endpoint?Since it’s using port 5985 it should be WinRM/WSMAN/remote PowerShell, but it completely ignores the fact that the default PSH remote endpoint is pointing to PSH 7.Is it using another endpoint? Or is it not using WinRM after all?

Round-tripping a VM definition using PowerShell 5.1 in Calm results in HTTP error 400

Hi all!This might not be a Nutanix Calm specific problem, but since I’m experiencing the problem within Calm I’m posting a question here (as well). :)I'm grabbing a VM definition using GET https://${PCHostAddress}:9440/api/nutanix/v3/vms/$VMUUID. I convert the payload to an object using ConvertFrom-Json, manipulate it using .Remove() to remove the Status section (among other things), and convert it back to JSON with ConvertTo-Json.When I send the modified payload back using PUT https://${PCHostAddress}:9440/api/nutanix/v3/vms/$VMUUID, I get a "(400) Bad Request." Thinking I screwed something up when modifying the payload, I removed the part of the code that changes the object but still got the same error, even though I'm "just" converting the unmodified payload from and to JSON.Sending back the payload without converting from and to JSON results in a "(422) UNPROCESSABLE ENTITY”, as it should.In this case the -Depth parameter isn't the culprit as far as I can tell (I've added -Depth 10

How does the while loop in Calm actually work?

Hi!I need help wrapping my head around how the while loop in Calm works. The documentation is unfortunately not helpful at all. :/The first thing I can’t understand is why a while loop has a fixed number of iterations. This to me is a for loop. A while loop runs while a condition isn’t met.The second thing that’s confusing is the exit condition that I can set to Success, Failure, or Don’t Care. I guess that Don’t Care turns the while loop into an actual for loop?The Success or Failure condition is as far as I can tell completely out of my hands as this is based on the result of the execution of the task(s) within the loop and not a parameter I control. Do I have to fail a task on purpose to keep the loop going if I choose Success as my exit condition?What happens if I have multiple tasks in the loop, do all tasks need to fail or succeed for the exit condition to trigger?Is it possible at all to set a parameter in one of my scripts and then use that as an exit condition?Thanks.

Error "'NoneType' object has no attribute 'get'" when executing runbook via API
