After replacing the motherboard and raid controller, cvm does not start. Error "Device 0000:59:0.0 not found..."

Hello, I am trying to add one new node in my existing Dell Nutanix cluster, we use Dell XC Servers but due to some reason, I don't want Dell to be added as a new node so 4th node would be Nutanix powered hardware ..would that work? How about hardware compatibility ? especially for the processor.

Hi there.A security check on my nutanix clusters (8 nodes) revealed that the IPMI port on every nodes is vulnerable cause the VNC protocol is used to access them through port 5900.Issue:"...Virtual Network Computing (VNC) provides remote users with access to the system it it installed on. If this service is compromised, the user can gain complete control of the system...."Remediation:"...Remove or disable this service..."What are my options? It is possible to disable these ports without affecting the performance of the NUTANIX cluster.Thanks in advance.

I am configuring the LACP on our two clusters, when I did in the cluster 2 is ok, but the same configuration for the cluster 1 does not work.To be sure that is not a mistake on the external switch a put the cluster 2 on the same ports of the that was connected on the cluster 1, and it still working.The problem is that one node (our cluster is with 3 nodes), because it show the link as up, but when I try to modify, either by terminal command or in the prism central settings, the hypervisor on that node goes down and the operation fails, the resilience changes to critical.I need support to identify if it has a problem with the interface.

Hello Team,I am working on a project where Nutanix Move will be highly leveraged for migration from Hyper-V, VMware to AHV Cluster. I know the ports that are required to be opened between diff source and destination, however customer is asking for more details as in what is the usage of the ports. Do we have any docs with detailed explanation on port usage? For example usage of ports 2049 (I know its for udp nfs but little more details :))Also some of the follow up questions:Is it mandatory to open port 80 (http) for Nutanix Move to work? Cause in this environment only secured communication is allowed 443 (https) Port 22 used for SSH to Linux VMs - Does it use asymmetric or symmetric encryption?Please advice. Thank you in advance!

Technical Question on upgrade :Customer has existing 1365-G6 cluster nodes. We are offering him an additional 1N upgrade of 1165-G7 or 1165-G8. I wanted to confirm :1. If we can add this 1 Node of G7 / G8 into the G6 Slot ?( please provide relevant KB article).2. If the above isn't possible, then can G6 nodes still be ordered as upgrade?3. If we order an upgrade of 1N 1165-G7 or G8 will you be provding the Block chassis with just the 1 Node and any special instructions to be mentioned. 

Things won’t always go to plan and the worst will happen. In this case, we lose 2 nodes from our 9 node rf2 cluster (e.g. one’s down for maintenance, someone forgets and reboots another node at the same time).  Can someone point me at some documentation that outlines how we can recover from this and get the cluster back up and running. Is there any permanent fallout?Thanks.

we are using a two node cluster connected with a witness VM, issue is we are facing a downtime of 5 minutes because of transfer of windows vm from failure node to healthy node. we don't want any downtime because we are running Product Of Sell (POS) services in windows. we need seamless solution (e.g without breaking continuous ping).we don't want migration the issue is when the Vm is running on node A and node A fails, it took 5 minutes to start Vm on node B in failover condition ,so it create downtime we don't want this downtime.

Hello, I have a 3 node cluster with RF 2 configured. When All the nodes are up and running I can see Total Cluster resources as below on the Prism Element.CPU - 388 Ghz RAM - 4.5 TB ( 1.5 TB Per Node) Storage - 32.9 TB  Let’s say If 1 node fails, Will my Available Storage size reduce? Please Help me. Also, I don’t understand one thing, I have Total 42 SSD of 1.92 TB = 80.64 TB, But in reality with RF2 why am I getting only 32.9 TB (without any data efficiency options enabled). I should Ideally get 40 TB of usable space. I checked on the storage sizer portal and it said I should get 63 TB. Please guide guys, what am I missing.

We have set up the connection to our Active Directory for authenticating in Prism Central. We have several clusters connected to our Prism Central. We have a scenario we are wondering about. Is it possible to restrict user access to only specific clusters in Prism Central? For example, I have user 1 and user 2 with clusters A, B, C and D in Prism Central. I want user 1 to be able to manage clusters A and C from Prism Central but want to continue to allow user 2 to be able to manage all of the clusters in Prism Central. We would want to allow user A to work with VMs only on clusters A and C and prevent access to VMs on clusters B and D. Is this possible? Currently the users in our "user 1 role" access the individual Prism Elements for the specific clusters, but we want to be able to allow our "user 1" to have a single point of access for each cluster they are meant to manage without granting them access to the other clusters in Prism Central.

I am new and watching all videos. I try to set up nutanix like proxmox with:3 x Dell R710 Hosts (nutanix installed on usb internal drive)1 x Dell R720 Freenas 20TB storage connected with direct Fiber With proxmox fiber channel setup was a nightmare, so can I use Fiber Channel here with Nutanix? My goal is if one of a host dies I have other VMs be ready | transferred into another host so like in VMWARE (pricy license). Let me know if I can achieve same with Nutanix and direct me towards hardware (Fiber Channel or 10GB ISCSI) whatever is easier and works well.

I have been trying to chase down and eliminate this error for a while now. The cvm leader only wants to use itself as the time source - when I run this command  (allssh ntpq -pn)  it shows      remote           refid      st t when poll reach   delay   offset  jitter==============================================================================x.x.x.x  y.y.y.y    2 u  603 1024  377    0.337  55090.5 419.722x.x.x.x  184.105.182.16   3 u  200 1024    4    0.358  75064.8   0.000*127.127.1.0     .LOCL.          10 l  587 1024  377    0.000    0.000   0.000 (The asterisk indicates that it is using itself as a time source, is that correct?) I can run ntpdate successfully to the configured ntp servers and the cvm can connect to them.  (I can even run ntpdate to an external time server that is not configured for that matter)   How do I get the cvm leader to use the configured ntp servers as the source (and not use itself)?  

Collector 3.5.1, Windows version. The customer has collected the data from a 2-node Hyper-V cluster and I can open the excel and browse through it - it looks right to me, I see all the VMs etc. When I try and import into sizer, I get “Some unknown error occurred”.  Any ideas?  There’s nothing particularly strange or unusual in the data that I can think of.  In the meantime I will probably try and manually add the equivalent workload. Thanks, Allan.

Hi,I followed this guide:Installing Nutanix Community Edition (CE) on vSphere 7 - Derek Seaman's IT BlogTo test a install of AHV/Prism CE and the AHV host installs fine but the CVM can not get to the outside world or ping ip’s.I can ssh to the CVM from the host on the correct IP and do the one_node_cluster create command but it just fails with `Failed to reach a node where Genesis is up` if I do `genesis start` it gets past that but just hangs after it starts up some services during the create.I tried not checking the one_node_cluster option in the install and doing it manually afterwards, but I get the same results.Happy to provide any info. The gateway etc look fine in the `/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0` file

Hello, I have two questions regarding snapshot on nutanix.If I restore VM / storage using nutanix snapshot, the VM / storage still pointing the VM / storage on protection domain or not ?  What happen if the VM / storage I create earlier using nutanix snapshot when the protection domain and VM / storage removed or accidentally delete ?  Thanks,Tirtayudha

We are running an image from HPE Aruba for a Mobility Master that crashes daily. The error is an IRQ interrupt:User: [14730.377720] irq 27: nobody cared (try booting with the "irqpoll" option) [14730.378230] handlers: [14730.378461] [<ffffffff813be5d0>] vring_interrupt [14730.378717] Disbling IRQ #27I’ve been directed by the community that there is a KVM fix for this by changing the machine type to Q35. I can see in the acli documentation there are settings for machine type but I can’t seem to find a list of acceptable settings that I could use there. I was hoping to perhaps create a VM through the acli with this already set or perhaps update a VM (is this bad?)Perhaps it would look something like this:acli vm.update machine_type="pc-q35"

I’m getting the following error on a 3 node clean install and I’m able to ping all 3 IPMI’s.Please advise. 

Nutanix CEで3ノードクラスタを構成しているのですが、1台のホストのブートデバイスが故障したらしく、復旧方法をご教示いただけないでしょうか？ バージョンは2020.09.16を使用しております。以前2019.11.22の際は、新しいブートデバイスを接続し、インストールオプションで【Repair CVM(Existing data preserved)】を選択すればブートデバイスを復旧できたと思うのですが、2020.09.16も同様の手順でデータ(仮想マシン)は削除されずブートデバイスを復旧可能でしょうか？ お手数をおかけいたしますがご教示いただけますと幸いです。
