Hi!If you have several Virtual machines on an AHV cluster that must be deleted, can you delete  them at the same time from Prism Central or should you remove them one by one from Prism Element? Also, is there any Rest API or PowerCLI to do that process? Thanks

Hello,I need to create several Windows Server 2019 standard, virtual machines that run in AHV (Nutanix cluster of 3 nodes nx-3170-g8, with 2x16 cores in each node) hosts that i need to buy licenses for. But i do not seem to find a calculation method for licenses).I found that i can go for per core licensing of physical cores (3*2*16 = 96 cores) which would help reduce costs since the total number of virtual cores that need to be configured is more than 200 v-cores.i would like to confirm if this approach is correct? i.e. licensing the number of the physical cores of nutanix appliances? and if anyone did it successfully?Thank you in advance,

Hello,We are buying a Nutanix Cluster of 3 nodes nx-3170-g8, but the management, also intending to buy vSphere 7 licenses thinking to replace the Hypervisor in the Nutanix boxes.I would like to know, if this can be done? and if yes, what documents or procedures must be followed?Thank you in advance,

I read that we can able to export the AHV VM in OVA format via Prism central GUI if we have both AOS and Prism central supported version. I need to know is there any way to do the same via PRISM CLI. If so,please share me any link for that. Thanks. -JAI

I’m trying to uninstall VMware tools from VMs running on AHV version 20201105.2244. I am following the KB to uninstall VMware tools: Unable to Uninstall VMware Tools in Windows after Migration by Move from ESXi to AHVI mount the ISO in windows on the VM and run the ‘setup64.exe /c’ command and immediately notice EventID 1000 and 1005 in the application logs. They are application errors not being able to launch the VMware installer process. I have tried this on two separate VMs on different clusters. New to Nutanix and trying to understand HA for management like in VMware.  In VMware we setup vCenter HA with an active/passive/witness.  Is there something similar in Nutanix?

HiI'm hoping someone has a similar setup.  We have a 2 sites connected by fast links with one Nutanix cluster at each site (16 nodes in each cluster).  We use Metro availability to replicate between sites.  We have 1 stretched ESXi cluster hosting mainly Window servers. We have a number of VM guest failover SQL clusters (2 nodes in each cluster)  which require shared storage and therefore require the use of Nutanix Volume groups.  Each VM is connected to the volume group via ISCSI.We can't use Metro replication to replicate these VMS and their associated volume groups to the other site as you can't replicate volume groups with Metro availability - it's not supported. So, the only other option is to use Async replication.  Here are my questions:In the manual the conditions for Async say  "Do not have VMs with the same name on the primary and the secondary clusters. Otherwise, it may affect the recovery procedures"Q: If we failover the async protection domain containing the cluster node VM

Hi all, I’m trying to create additional admins accounts with LDAP authentication on Nutanix. I’ve got clusters up and running, got LDAP working, and the generic RBAC ‘VM admin/VM read only’ etc accounts (that I’m creating) are all good. But I thought Nutanix had added the ability to create a full cluster admin with AD authentication rather than creating local ones on something like prism central now? Or am I mistaken? (If someone has a way of doing this, it would be much appreciated). Kind Regards,SiW

I used X-Ray to do a performance testing for the Nutanix cluster. After added the target, and I do a Peak Performance Micro benchmark test. All the process has worked well. but when the performance testing is running, there is no I/O performance graph, only display the 3 graphs as cluster CPU usage, cluster network received, and cluster network transmitted. I cannot find the I/O performance information from the graph. I have meet this kind of problem many times. and the x-Ray version is 3.11.As the beginning test, the timezone is not right and I have ever adjust the time of X-Ray VM.

HiI used X-Ray 4.1.3 to do a test of VM High Availability in a cluste which includes 6 Lenovo HX nodes installed ESXi 7.0 U2, I tested several times and all are failed. The test failed in the phase of after poweroff the Host and reestablish the workload in 120 seconds. All are time out in 120 secs. I checked the VM which has already HA to another host, and the VM is already restated and the IP already obtained. So this is the timeout issue. seems if the timeout  value is larger, the test will be successfully. but I cannot find the place to adjust the 120 secs value. My question  is “ Is there any way to adjust the 120 sec value for the VM high Availability test”?

Hi All,I want to test block storage, file storage and object storage. How many nodes are needed for the minimum cluster size? Is there a recommended configuration？

Hi We have 2 sites with fast links between them with 1 Nutanix cluster on each site.  All the hosts are running the ESXi 6.7 hypervisor. We use Metro availability so we have 1 ESXi cluster stretched across both sites. Currently Prism central runs on a VM in located on hosts in the primary site in a Metro availability enabled container\DS.  We looking into scaling out our Prism Central installation from 1 node to 3 nodes. Ideally I was thinking we could spread the Prism Central nodes across the two sites, perhaps by having 1 node on site 1 and 2 nodes on site 2. However, the Prism Central scale out manual states the following: “All scale out Prism Central VMs must run on the same cluster. For example, running two VMs in cluster_1 and one VM in cluster_2 is not supported".   Is this referring to one ESXi cluster or one Nutanix Cluster - I just want to be sure? Thanks in advance.

Looking for anyone that has been successful with installing windows 11 on Nutanix AHV?I have tried, in my VM creation i have selected UEFI and Secure Boot. What I can’t seem to get to is how to enable TPM? When VM boots there is no way to get into bios to enable TPM. So how do you do that? Thanks

Morning,We have a 5 node cluster using the Lenovo HX series hardware (ThinkAgile HX3521-G).We changed our IMPI range after the installation had completed to an out of band IP range that all our IPMI NICs sit on. I made the change in BIOS and then restarted the genesis services on each node via the node CVM.The Genesis restart appeared to be successful. However when I look at the nodes in the hardware section of Prism element the IPMI address is showing up as a a generic self assigned 169.254.x.x address. What would be the best way to address this?Im new to Nutanix so forgive me if I have missed something super obvious...thanks Graham

Feeling like a real noob today…Error comes back immediately.  I have tried my email address and my NEXT username. I have verified that the CVM can ping the my.nutanix.com.I wanted to try resettting my password on Next but cannot find the link to do that in my user profile.

Is NCP 5.15 exam valid to appear or it is retired or replaced with any else?

Hello Team,I’m looking for Exam links and practice ques for Nutanix Certified Professional - End User Computing - Virtual Desktop Infrastructure 5 (English) for my upcoming exam soon. Thanks in advance!Darshan

Hi all!I’m trying to set up an ESXi environment in Nutanix Move but move complains that the user has insufficient access rights, despite the user being assigned the Admin role in vCenter (and on the user level, not on the group level). Insufficient privileges to perform the operation: User 'Move-User' is missing required privileges for 'vcenter.domain.obfuscated': virtualmachine.config.changetracking,virtualmachine.config.editdevice,virtualmachine.guestoperations.query,virtualmachine.provisioning.diskrandomread,virtualmachine.config.annotation,virtualmachine.config.removedisk,virtualmachine.guestoperations.execute,virtualmachine.state.createsnapshot,virtualmachine.state.removesnapshot,virtualmachine.interact.deviceconnection,global.disablemethods,virtualmachine.config.advancedconfig,virtualmachine.guestoperations.modify,virtualmachine.interact.poweroff,virtualmachine.interact.poweron,virtualmachine.config.rawdevice,virtualmachine.config.settings,global.enablemethods,global.licenses,ses

Can we us the metadata usage report by prism central on cluster? Has anyone tried? Or How can I get a similar report? Thank you

Hello, I have installed prism central on cluster (AHV). But no cluster is registered (only prism central is deployed). Now i want to remove prism central. What is a correct way to do this? Thank you in advance. Mindaugas

Hi!We are in the process of migrating our ESXi-vms to Nutanix AHV. Does anyone know if it is a problem to migrate a Witness VM (actually used for two 2-node clusters) to AHV with Nutanix Move or would it be better to install a new one on AHV and switch the clusters over to it?

Hi Tried googling but can’t find anything to support me. Model: NUC7i5DNHE2x SSD (500+250GB SSD)1x _16_ gb Cruizer Fit USB AHV installation works and I create 1 signle node cluster., After rebooting I get SSH/Ping acces to AHV and can loginw with root. Problem:CVM does not answer to ping/wev.Tried SSH / Ping from AHV but does not get an answer: [root@NTNX-eXXXXX-A ~]# ping 10.255.1.11PING 10.255.1.11 (10.255.1.11) 56(84) bytes of data. From 10.255.1.10 icmp_seq=1 Destination Host UnreachableFrom 10.255.1.10 icmp_seq=2 Destination Host UnreachableFrom 10.255.1.10 icmp_seq=3 Destination Host Unreachable I’ve tried re-installing multiple times but same issue. Is the problem the 16Gb cruizer fit usb? I just finished both NCP MCA and ECA and got a certificate, when I downloaded the voucher certificate there is no voucher code in it. It says that “your NCP-MCA vocher code is” but I’m not seeing any voucher code same for the voucher certificate for ECA. Need help on this. Thank you.

NUTANIX documents on upgrading Microsoft OS from 2012 R2 to 2016 reference the need for both the OS ISO file and also the “metadata upgrade JSON file.”  Where do I locate the JSON file? It says the Nutanix support portal but I’m not able to access it there. It also mentions the “Hyper-V ISO file” but it’s unclear what that is referencing? If it is referring to the Server 2016 ISO file there doesn’t appear to be any file like this. Upgrade using ISOs. The Prism web console supports 1-click upgrade (Upgrade Software dialog box) of Hyper-V 2016 or 2019 by using metadata upgrade JSON file. This file is available in the Nutanix Support portal Hypervisor Details page and the Microsoft Hyper-V ISO file.Anyone able to point me to where to get this file so I can perform this needed upgrade?

I have pulled some new nodes into an existing cluster that utilizes LACP/LAG on the current nodes.  The default configuration on the new nodes is Active/Backup.  We also have new ToR switches that are not configured in a LAG.  Are these the correct steps the configure Active/Active?  The new nodes are only participating in the metadata ring - not hosting any VMs:To modify networking on the new nodes:Change the node to LACP enabled (ACTIVE/ACTIVE) using vs0  in the GUI – select only that ONE node to update the config on!! Put node into Maintenance Mode Login to CVM acli host.list acli host.enter_maintenance_mode host-IP-address DO I NEED TO PUT THE CVM IN MAINT MODE AS WELL?? Make changes on ToR switch – enable the 2 ports for LAG for that node ONLY Test networking Remove from Maintenance mode acli host.exit_maintenance_mode host-ip Verify resiliency returns to OK Move onto the next nodeI would love some feedback on if this is the correct order.
