Hi!I want to use the Prism Central API to create and connect a vdsik to a VM. The only examples and topics I’ve seen for creating and attaching vdisks uses the Prism Element API, i.e. using a specific CVM as the endpoint.I don’t want to use a specific CVM as this is to be an orchestrated task triggered by our ITSM system. We can’t rely on a specific CVM to be available and would much rather use Prism Central.However, I can’t find any API calls that seem to be able to create and attach a vdisk. Maybe the PUT /vms/{uuid} call is capable of this but I can’t see any mention of this in the documentation.Is there a way to do this with Prism Central?

How do i change the name of an ESXI host and CVM in a Nutanix cluster?

I haven’t noticed any messages or communications regarding the recent log4j vulnerability (CVE-2021-44228). Does Nutanix have some formal announcement for customers on the status of this threat as it relates to their product portfolio?

I installed a new VM with Windows Server 2022 for testing and when I try to connect through RDP it works fine for 10 seconds and then I get a frozen screen and no response. Can you tell why is that?

Hi fellas,Does anyone have a clear answer of what is the real cost of AHV?  I’m told that AHV is free but is this referring to only Nutanix Community Edition? What about AOS? when purchasing a Nutanix node/block/cluster, these come pre-installed but the cluster essentially has no ‘smarts’ without the CVM which is AOS.Referencing this Licensing Quick Reference Guide, it looks like AHV is included with AOS but AOS’ licensing metric is charged per node.  Am I reading this correctly?Is it possible to run AHV without AOS? Thanks,JS

The Nutanix AOS/AHV was installed on the DX equipment, and the ISCSI Data Services IP was also set up. The Volume Group tab and create Volume Group  are not visible in the Prism - Storage - Table.AOS version is 5.20.xIs Volume Group not supported for DX equipment? Or do I need another setting after AOS 5.20?

I just finished both NCP MCA and ECA and got a certificate, when I downloaded the voucher certificate there is no voucher code in it. It says that “your NCP-MCA vocher code is” but I’m not seeing any voucher code same for the voucher certificate for ECA. Need help on this.

How can i get practice questions for Nutanix Certified Associate exam

It seems that when updating AOS Nutanix is creating backups of /home/apache/www/ called PrismUI.tar.gz . Those are then stored in /home/apache/www/console/ . It further seems they tried (but failed) to exclude this console directory. (Don't have the exact tar command line any more but I guess Nutanix can find it) This means that later backups include all previous ones, recursively. I.e. backup #1 is OK. But backup #2 will include #1. Backup #3 will even include #1 and #2 (including another copy of #1). And so on. Which means the file size of subsequent backups grows FAST. For one Cluster the file grew from the usual ~125 MB to over 3GB. This in turn leads to the backup being rejected and recreated constantly. Probably bad for the SSDs.This happened on all Versions I was able to check: ESXi: 5.20.1.1, 5.20.2 AHV: 5.18.1.2 5.19.0.5 6.0.1 6.0.1.6 6.0.1.7 6.0.2Here the most egregious example:$ sudo find / /home/ -xdev -iname PrismUI.tar.gz | xargs -d'\n' ls -lah-rwxr-x---. 1 nutanix apache

Hi all.I’ve been searching all over the Internet, and the Nutanix documentation, to figure out how to pass variables from one task in a runbook to the next. I know that I need to print it to the console in the format “statusMessage = ‘This is the status message’” but so far I’ve tried with Write-Host, Write-Output, and Write without any luck.I’ve also tried using both @@{statusMessage}@@ and @@{Task1.statusMessage}@@ in the next step without any difference.How am I supposed to do this, and why isn’t it properly documented?Thanks.

Hi!We have two Nutanix clusters running ESXi v6.7.0 with a Horizon 7 VDI environment on each.  We needed to be able to sync Horizon AppVolumes between the clusters via some common storage.The solution we were set up with was a FreeNAS VM on one cluster publishing an NFS share which was then attached to the hosts in both clusters.  We weren’t bothered about high availability as it’s not an issue if the replication of the appvolumes goes down sometimes as it’s only needed if appvolumes are being changed or their assignments to users is changing.After an NCC upgrade, Prism Element now flags up this external datastore as unsupported.  I’m struggling to find out from Support what the actual magnitude of risk is here to the stability of the clusters (especially when it comes to upgrading firmwares, AOS etc).Does anyone here have any thoughts on this situation please?Thanks for reading!

During VM creation  in nutanix ESXI, if we select the thin provisioning and submit the operation once , it shows thick provisioning if we see the disk settings. what will be the issue ?

Hi guys,I want to run some tests on a local system, so I created two VMs that are isolated from my production network.So, I created a network in the cluster just to be used by these two VMs. This network does not exist in production, only within the cluster.I added the NIC for this network on both VMs. But even so VMs do not communicate, I cannot ping or access via SSH from one VM to another.This type of configuration, just for testing, is not possible with AHV \ AOS?     

We have a UTM with 6 interfaces that go to separate subnets. Each subnet has a ToR Switch. The UTM handles the routing. We are installing a new Nutanix 4 node Block and virtualization physical servers. Assuming that we have 6 physical servers and each server is on a separate subnet, what would our network diagram look like if we included the Nutanix Block? Would we need another switch that has the 6 subnets vlanned, ie: 1 connection from the block and then based on the traffic destination send the traffic out through the vlan port to the ToR switch in the destination subnet?

So i’ve been going through Google searches to find an answer whether Cascade Lake vs Ice Lake can coexist within the same cluster. Unfortunately no luck. So i hope this forum can help me answer this question.My concern is that i was made to understand that Cascade Lake and Ice Lake CPU architecture is different, thus that may pose a performance problems to VM even if the nodes can coexist within the cluster.So the question is, can NX-G7 and NX-G8, which will run on different CPU archtiecture coexist within the same cluster and will it cause any performance issues if this is possible?It would help if you can point me to a KB article or any article for that matter to explain this.Thank you in advance for the help……..

We have Lenovo HX (3752) installed with 3 nodes pre-bundled with AHV and AOS. The onsite technician configured IPMI (XCC) and we are now able to login to the XCC and also able to access the console (AHV). I wanted to do the following,Change the AHV IP address from the console (commands)? Know the AHV version and its default IPs/current IPs from the console? Connect/ssh to CVM and change the CVM IPs? Create Cluster of 3 nodes

For instance, if node 1 fails, how and when with the workload fail-over? What configuration settings do I need to consider to optimize the workflow?
