Hi all I have a 3 nodes cluster with RF2. I keep getting the following critical alert: Cluster can not tolerate 1 node failure(s) and guarantee available rebuild capacity Cluster cannot tolerate 1 node failure. Current usage of 6552243087527 bytes exceeds max limit of 9010877278002 bytes. I’m not sure which storage this error is about, the numbers in the error is way to big to what the cluster actually has. I’ve attached screenshot of the storage of the cluster. Any help will be much appreciated.  

I have exported list of all snapshots running on AHV in our environment. On a few snapshots, VM name is empty. I suspect, this is because VM has been deleted without deleting snapshot. Now how to delete such snapshots? Below is example: Snapshot name is “removing ngt” VM-Name Snapshot-Name Creation-Time   servername Test Snapshot 3/19/2019 11:00     removing ngt 2/6/2020 1:00    

I have a client that is running Version euphrates-5.5.9.5-stable LTS - Starter License They have cleaned up some disk space inside of a windows guest vm.  They would like to reclaim that storage space from the virtual disk. Shrink it from a 3Tb to a 2Tb virtual disk.  Is there a way to do this? Thanks

We are planning to connect 2 stacked Catalyst 9300 to a Nutanix Cluster. While doing research I found a document recommending the Nexus 9300 and specifying that the Catalyst 9300 wouldn't meet requirements for the Data Center. There was no reasoning for this and I would like to know why the Catalyst 9300 switches are not recommended. Thanks in advance, Ingrid

In the Nutanix Cluster upgrade there are five options Upgrade Software AOS File Server Hypervisor NCC Foundation so what is the correct sequence to upgrade whole stack of nutanix software?  

One of my CVMs is throwing this alert: CVM threshold of 98 Percent Disk IO exceeded I can’t find anything published on this alert anywhere…  would like some assistance understanding this and how to mitigate it..   Ran a complete NCC check and it came back clean, just 1 warning.      

Hi, I am trying to attach a vdisk to a VM. I have read that it is only supported using ESXI. If so, what are the other ways to automate the failover.

Is Nutanix doing these boot camps virtually any time soon?

I am new in the Nutanix so asking silly question could it be possible to deploy Nutanix mine and file server on the same box or hardware.  

We make use of a lot of the FIQL filtering in our automation to pare down results from various REST calls. However, it seems that while filtering on things like category_name or category_value work just fine with an ==, they don’t seem to work with an !=. Is there a way to do an inequality filter, specifically with v3 of the Prism Central API?

Hi Does anywhere can be find the ESXi version and AOS version interoperaability or compatibility? I found that in the foundation iso_whitelist file, there is some ESXi version has min_nos requirements. but differnet OEM partner has different requiremnts. But from VMware compability web site. ESXi is compatibility with most of the AOS version as the link. For example: ESXi 6.5 U3 --Dell has no min_nos requirements --Lenovo min_nos is 5.10.6 --Fujitsu has no min_nos requirements --HPE min_nos is 5.10.7 So if it is old enviroment, Does the ESXi version must meet the AOS version requirement in the whitelist?

All, I have a 6 Node 1065 system in 2 blocks.  Recently one of the CVMs (node 2, block A) crashed.  When rebooted it was just going in loops.  When diagnosed it seems the SSD (not the SATADOM) had failed and we replaced it.  When we try to boot the CVM, it still just loops. We were told to boot that node with Phoenix which the cluster provided me for download.  I do that and it doesn’t load Phoenix and gets errors instead.  I’m looking for a suggestion of how to get the node back to 100%.  At this point (and throughout) the ESXi on the SATADOM has booted fine and I guess if I didn’t care about the storage side I could just ignore this but I’d like the system to be fully healthy. Any suggestion about how to get the CVM working again would be appreciated. Thank you Johan

For most of my vm’s that are in protection domains, the snapshot option is grayed out in Prism Centeral.  Hovering over the option I get a popup with message “One or more of selected VMs is protected via legacy DR feature.  Snapshots for these VMs can be taken from respective PE clusters only.”  This option is not grayed out for vms that are not in protection domains.  Why is that?  What are legacy DR features?

We have many clusters in HCI . Now we want to locally segregate prod VM n NOn -prod VM in a cluster . how can we do ? Do we have concept of resource groups?

I’m standing-up a Nutanix File cluster and want to move an existing WIndows DFS Namespace to the cluster. The namespace needs to remain the same as it is used by web apps. I thought I could simply add the AFS cluster as a Namespace server, replicate the files, and then remove the old namespace servers. However, when I go to add the new namespace server, it wants a local folder location which isn’t available. I was sure I saw that Nutanix Files is compatible with Windows DFS but I don’t know what I’m missing. Suggestions?

While attempting to update a VM category via the prism central API, we are getting a 409 response saying: { 'api_version': '3.1', 'code': 409, 'message_list': [{ 'message': 'Edit conflict: please retry change. Entity CAS version mismatch.', 'reason': 'CONCURRENT_REQUESTS_NOT_ALLOWED' }], 'state': 'ERROR'} It seems to be occurring on only one VM as all others seem to update normally. I can clear it by updating the VM through the gui, however once I try and do it via API I get that error.   Any thoughts on what could be going on with this VM?

Two weeks ago I’ve upgraded our two clusters to AOS 5.15 . I am trying to locate the memory slots “P2-DIMMD1” and “P2-DIMMD2”  in G4 but did not see any slot marked as P2-DIMMD1 or P2-DIMMD2. would you please let me know how to find these slots and replace memory. Thanks, Tairshah

I tested a planned failover of Nutanix Files v3.6 today from local site A to remote site B after reviewing the DR documentation. I successfully ‘migrated’ site A to site B however I expected the FSVM’s to migrate as well. Instead, they stayed at their original site A.     I assume that this is by design and my assumption is incorrect or did I miss a step somewhere?

Hi All,   I’ve testing old Nutanix NX box demo with no MA support.  The AOS version install is 5.10.6   I tried to create file server using wizard in prism element.  In the last step of wizard when I prompt create the error message showing    Error creating: Invalid CVM subnet configuration, possibly due to incomplete CVM re-ip workflow   I’ve run ncc check and didn’t found subnet mismatch issue.   Please kindly advice how to fix this.

Hi, I'll create new cluster for 3 nodes that maybe expand. If I add node to cluster, Should I stop it to set Erasure Coding ? Or Should I set Erasure Coding at create new cluster before running user VMs ? I'm concerned about some impacts user VMs running on new cluster for that setting.
