I am having an External NTP server, Which is tagged to my CVM, unfortunately my AHV is not corresponding with mt NTP server even it is reachable from my hypervisor level. I have checked my Hypervisor thru ssh and run the command ‘date’ its gives me different time from my NTP server.

How do we browse Nutanix containers from command line to check what is contained in it.

Hi I have confuse about the output of the AHV network command "mange_ovs show_interfaces", In the result, I can check the link status and speed of the NICs. But what is the meaning of [b][u]mode[/u][/b] ? I attached a snapshot as the following that give the output of a node in AHV which have 10Gb and 25Gb nic cards, but the mode all display 10000. I'm trying to create a vm from our CentOS75 gold image. Pallavi Akella from Nutanix created the CentOS gold image using Disk and not an ISO. When I provision vms using powershell script. [list=1] [*]update the Clone.csv where I enter the following info name,VlanID,VMRam,Vcpu,cores,VMIP,clone,Image [/list]name,VlanID,8,2,2,VMIP,CentOS75, and save the file. [list=1] [*]Next I run cloneNTNX.ps1 script to provision the vm. This script also runs connect-Nutainx.ps1 and Create-NTNXVM.ps1 script. When I run the cloneNTNX.ps1 script I get below error. Hello is there a way to automatically install NGT guest tools without manually cdrom mounting process ? I want to use Packer to generate a centOS 7 golden image with preinstalled NGT guest tools thanks Gilles

I want to exclude some disks from my snapshot, using Rubrik on my Nutanix VM. I use the script from rubrik (which is a Patch) to exclude some disks from my nutanix vm like this: { "excludeDiskIds": [ "diskid1", "diskid2" ] } I get these disks id from the nutanix API (which is a get), but when I snapshot the machine from Rubrik the disks are still included. Am I doing something wrong? Is the "Nutanix Disk ID" equal to the one requested from the Rubrik script?  Thank you

I'm trying to upgrade ESXi 6.0 to 6.7U2 but when try to do it from Prism im getting errors on DRS not enabled. Now we don't have DRS license, our cluster is ESXi 6.0 Standard License, is there any way to do the upgrade without the needs of DRS ?I read few documents that even if i try to use vCenter Update manager update will fail becasue DRS is not enabled. Any workaround solution ?

Hi,Our metro cluster is running AOS5.10.8.1 (since yesterday’s update from AOS 5.10.8) on x8 NX-8035-G6. During an LCM update for bios and HDD, a node failed due to a bad DIMM. The node pair were eventually evicted from the meta data ring at which point support were supplying a replacement DIMM. After a lot of coaxing both nodes were back in the cluster and hosting vSphere6.5 without any apparent issue, however, since the outage we are being warned in PC\PE and NCC that the active and standby PDs are not mounted on all nodes, even after manually ensuring that the containers are available and connected correctly. Support have advised that this is a known NCC error and just wondered if anyone else in the community has experienced this issue? Thanks in advance

Hi    I followed the steps in page to upgrade NCC. I can upgrade NCC by a single installer file (ncc_installer_filename.sh) successfully. But I cannot upgrade NCC by a compressed tar file (ncc_installer_filename.tar.gz). After extract the installation package, I type command to run the install script as below. It showed “Installation of ncc failed on node xx.xx.xx.xx” . I tired to run the script on each cluster, they generated the same error. How to troubleshoot the issue?   

is there any storage motion or container motion if i using ahv? and if not, how we move vm data from one container to another container?

Hi, I am trying to create a VM using the v3 API and have a question about creating the vdisks. I can specify the disk details (size, type, etc.) in the create VM call, but don't seem to be able to specify the storage container to use. Is this correct?  The only work around that I've found is to use the v1 API to create the vdisk, grab its UUID, and use that in the v3 call to create the VM. I can't see a call to create a vdisk in either v2 or v3. Darren.

Hi all, I´m attempting to download one image from a cluster on port 2222 as described on many documents (i.e. AHV | How to access VM disk files on Nutanix container or Copy files to/from a containter ) and I have a strange issue: using Filezilla or Winscp it works fine, using Centos 7.7 Linux scp doesn´t work. A syntax as “scp -P 2222 admin@VCM-IP:/default-container-171248/.acropolis/vmdisk/image-or-disk-uuid” accept the password and then terminate with error “exec request failed on channel 0” On the linux side firewall & selinux have been disabled a scp to other systems works fine. Any suggestion?

Hi Folks, I am trying to figure out if there is an option to specify the IP address details when the VM gets failover to DR site. At the primary site the VM has an IP address 192.168.11.x/24 and when the VM is failover to DR site in case of a disaster, the VM is supposed to an IP address 192.168.12.x/24. The IP address is statically configured at the primary site. Will we have to change the IP address manually once the VM is failover and powered on at the DR site or is there a way we can do it so that the VM automatically gets the IP address that needs to be set while performing the failover?

I have been deleting some VMs in order to regain storage space but I don’t see any progress on the Home/Storage Summary window. How can I refresh this information?

There can be legitimate cases where access to external storage, such as massive tape libraries, massive disk archives is needed to some, but not all VMs running in a Nutanix cluster.  These VMs would be ideally under the AHV hypervisor, but is ESXi is an acceptable alternative.  These external storage systems would likely support 10GbE iSCSI (and faster) and/or 8 gbit fibre channel or faster. I understand that supporting such external access would make the VM “special” and would restrict VM mobility to other specific nodes that were configured for similar external access. The mobility issues are a later discussion, if external storage access is possible. If the external storage was a NAS device, running NFS and/or SMB, I believe it would be straigntforward … just define the external IP address in the VM, and access the data from the VM.  The same technique could be used for external iSCSI devices, for Ethernet iSCSi.   In many cases, if the external storage needed very high performance

 Is there a way to create isolated networks within the nutanix cluster that would allow communication only for the VMs that has a NIC connected to that network? Find attached an example of what I mean if we were talking about ESXi Thanks in advance!

I just migrated a VM with Windows 2008 R2 from ESXi 6.0 to AHV but I got blue screen when I turned it on in nutanix cluster. I used move version 3.4.1 somebody knows what happened.
