We have many clusters in HCI . Now we want to locally segregate prod VM n NOn -prod VM in a cluster . how can we do ? Do we have concept of resource groups?

I’m standing-up a Nutanix File cluster and want to move an existing WIndows DFS Namespace to the cluster. The namespace needs to remain the same as it is used by web apps. I thought I could simply add the AFS cluster as a Namespace server, replicate the files, and then remove the old namespace servers. However, when I go to add the new namespace server, it wants a local folder location which isn’t available. I was sure I saw that Nutanix Files is compatible with Windows DFS but I don’t know what I’m missing. Suggestions?

While attempting to update a VM category via the prism central API, we are getting a 409 response saying: { 'api_version': '3.1', 'code': 409, 'message_list': [{ 'message': 'Edit conflict: please retry change. Entity CAS version mismatch.', 'reason': 'CONCURRENT_REQUESTS_NOT_ALLOWED' }], 'state': 'ERROR'} It seems to be occurring on only one VM as all others seem to update normally. I can clear it by updating the VM through the gui, however once I try and do it via API I get that error.   Any thoughts on what could be going on with this VM?

Two weeks ago I’ve upgraded our two clusters to AOS 5.15 . I am trying to locate the memory slots “P2-DIMMD1” and “P2-DIMMD2”  in G4 but did not see any slot marked as P2-DIMMD1 or P2-DIMMD2. would you please let me know how to find these slots and replace memory. Thanks, Tairshah

I tested a planned failover of Nutanix Files v3.6 today from local site A to remote site B after reviewing the DR documentation. I successfully ‘migrated’ site A to site B however I expected the FSVM’s to migrate as well. Instead, they stayed at their original site A.     I assume that this is by design and my assumption is incorrect or did I miss a step somewhere?

Hi All,   I’ve testing old Nutanix NX box demo with no MA support.  The AOS version install is 5.10.6   I tried to create file server using wizard in prism element.  In the last step of wizard when I prompt create the error message showing    Error creating: Invalid CVM subnet configuration, possibly due to incomplete CVM re-ip workflow   I’ve run ncc check and didn’t found subnet mismatch issue.   Please kindly advice how to fix this.

Hi, I'll create new cluster for 3 nodes that maybe expand. If I add node to cluster, Should I stop it to set Erasure Coding ? Or Should I set Erasure Coding at create new cluster before running user VMs ? I'm concerned about some impacts user VMs running on new cluster for that setting.

I am using Nutanix on VSphere 6.5, and am affected by the 100% Memory usage alerts as described in KB article 000004465. I would like to create a folder in VSphere called Nutanix CVMs, which will not have the memory alerts enabled, and would like to move the CVM VMs in to this folder. Can anyone advise whether it’s safe to move a CVM VM in to another folder after is has been deployed? Part of me thinks this is a safe / normal procedure, as I’ve done it countless times with normal VMs. However, due to the complex nature of hyper-converged infrastructure and CVMs I understand I need to be very careful.   Thanks for your help   Jason  

Hi,  My CVM is reporting low on disk space and trying to cleanup. I tried to follow the KB1540 and noticed the logs directory needs to be clean up. Its consuming around 8.1G the rm cmd in article dont see to apply for logs folder. Any suggestion on how to free up space under logs safely? Can i winscp and delete the logs files?   Thanks CT

Hi,   Does Nutanix Leap support ESXi Hypervisor for on-premise DR automation? In two different sources I have found different information:   AAPM 5.10: Data Protection: Prism Central and Acropolis 5.10 or higher must be deployed on both sites. Hi, I'd like to set configuration authentication to Active Directory. Do you know "Service Account User" 's  authority ? Hi,  What if all 4 attempts finished and I didn't pass NCSR L3 assessment. Will I be able to attempt again? If not, should I proceed with NCSE process. 

Would like to put together a report that would in detail break down the storage used by VM snapshots, as well as, storage used by Protection Domains.   Have been digging around and found a couple scripts that display some useful information however not quite what I’m looking for.  Anyone have an idea on how best to proceed?

I have an AHV VM that I would like to disconnect the NIC and connect the NIC in my script.  I need it disconnected while sysprep runs and sets a static IP address then I’m good to connect the NIC again.  (Otherwise it pulls a DHCP address and replaced the hostname with the DHCP address in DNS).   I can Get-NTNXVMNIC and see the current status of the NIC but I don’t see a way to change the status (i.e. I don’t find a Set-NTNXVMNIC command).   Thanks!   -TimG

Hello, We build our vm images using packer and ansible and upload them to different endpoints. First time I uploaded the images to Prism Central using API v3 and batch processing. Prism Central deploys the image to all the cluster that are registrated. That works fine… BUT… HOW can i define the destination storage container on each cluster?? I can define placement policies etc but I cannot assign a category or policy to Storage Container. Prism Central always deploys the images to “SelfServiceContainer”. But we dont want that.

Our hosts network ports are currently configured as Active-Backup bonds. I can determine which Ethernet port is currently active, which Ethernet port is on standby, and I can issue a command to failover the port. I would like to know if there is a command which can be run from the AHV which outputs the time and date-stamps of the last Host Ethernet port failover. 

Dear all, I need to provide some reporting for my management. I'm using REST API & Python, to extract values. I managed to get hosts information (cpu, ram) and physical storage without any problem. Now I need to get the logical storage summary and I can't find the values via the REST Api. (same values as we get on the PRISM homepage on Storage Summary part) It's probably a calculation but I can't find the right one. May I ask you to provide me the values and calculations.
