Playing around with an old NX-2000 series server and it seems I need to make my 10GbE nics default to eth now while before on boot they seemed to be recognized in eth mode. Hi, im new in nutanix. I have 1 cluster with 2 blocks and 4 nodes here. Everything went fine until im seeing no detail in memory usage unlike other of my VMs. How can this happen? I need my memory usage detail to monitor any of my VMs with high resource usage. Any Solution to solve this off?  

hi team, i want to ask something, in my understanding nutanix can tolerates 1 node failure if I use rf 2 where the data will be replicated into 2 pieces, what happens if I have 10 nodes, how much nutanix can tolerance of node failure at the same time? it still tolerates only 1 node failure or any other mechanism? Hi Experts, Im new to Nutanix. I’d like to know why my guest OS build from my physical HP server can’t get an ip address? My physical server is connected to network however, on the created guest os, i can’t get an ipaddress from my dhcp. appreciate any help on this.    

There was a thread back in 2016 regarding getting VM activity events logged in Prism (PE or PC).  Events such as powering on and off a VM should be displayed in PE or PC so we can try to track down when a reboot may have occurred easily.  This has been a core VMware vCenter function for ages, but is glaringly absent in Prism for AHV. My company is in the middle of the AHV conversion right now, and my teammates are asking me how to find out about these events.  I don’t really like the idea of giving untrained folks access to the “nutanix” account on the CVM to look at acropolis.log.   In the 2016 thread, someone said enhancements are coming to Prism.  Are they still coming?

i want to migrate my phyical linux server to Nutanix. is there any native nutanix tool to prform this activity?

I want to test Microsegmentation on prism central, but "AHV Free Memory Minimum 1GB for each Prism Central VM" showed up. And I can't enable Enable Microsegmentation check box. 20gb memory assigned to prism central. What was the problem ?    

I’m running PC Scaleout (5.16.1.2) on ESXi and need to migrate all 3 nodes to a new datacenter cluster and datastore (same vcenter). Is there a recommended process for this or can I simply power down one of the 3 nodes, migrate it, power it up and wait for all cluster services to start, and then move on to the next one? 

Is there a cli command that will tell me which VMs do NOT have NGT installed? Is there a command that will show me CD-ROM status for all VMs? (e.g. No drive available, or drive not empty) I know about ncc health_checks ngt_checks ngt_installer_version_check Thanks

How To enable nested virtualization on AHV?

After upgrading to the latest Prism Central, AOS, and AHV versions, I wanted to check out the storage QoS options. But after looking all over, I could not find where to do this. I asked one of my fellow Nutanix adminstrators who has the same access as I do to the same resources and he showed me where the settings can be configured. However, I don’t have this option (and a few others) when logged in with my account. Not even with the Prism Admin account. I’ve tried different browsers, clearing browser cache, different computers. Nothing. Any ideas why I can’t see these options?

Anyone have any insights to share about using the filter option in the /alerts/list API method in Prism Central? Here is that method in the documentation: https://www.nutanix.dev/reference/prism_central/v3/api/alerts/postalertslist/ It looks like there isn’t much information available about the filter option. I have found a (very) little bit of information online about FIQL, but I have no idea what field names are available for alerts in Prism Central.

When creating a vm there is a scripting section that has the option to select a file from an ADSF Path.  How can I put files to an ADSF location?

I hope this is an easy question.  Am I allowed to increase the VCPU and memory resources on the Move VM/Docker without issues?  I know hot-plug is disabled, so it’s in the reboot-world.  I found that we are pegging the CPUs out when we are queueing migrations, so I want to try to get some more throughput on it to take advantage of our 25Gb infrastructure. My migration team is doing a good job trying to push as many VM’s through Move to stage reboots after-hours.  I’ve noticed that replication slows way down when we have about 15-20 VM’s waiting for cutover.  I have checked the load on the Move VM and increased the amount of CPUs.  Replication goes well (25Gbit network), but now we only have 2 seed streams going with 19 waiting to cutover.  I have 4 other VM’s that are in the “seeding data” phase, but haven’t started their copies.  Is this a bottleneck within the Move postgres database? Any ideas on how I can get more VM’s copying in parallel? Thanks,

Hi there, I have many PDs and inside these PDs I have many VMs. I want to be able to run NCLI (or the like) to unprotect VM’s using a wildcard if possible. Example: ncli pd unprotect name=ProtectionDomain vm_name=VM* Anyone have an idea on how to do this to unprotect machines by wildcard to remove a mass amount at once?

I am testing Postman for API calls and one of the errors I am getting is 502 - Oops Server Error, which is related to the Apache portion. Question is, which log contains this? I’ve checked all the logs in ~/data/logs/ and can’t find that response. 

Hello Team, How we will configure Storage only Block’s? Do we need to follow the same foundation procedure?  If that’s the case we will have two CVM’s ( CVM and FSVM). can someone please guide me how NX Storage block will configure?  

Hi, A customer moved his Nutanix Cluster (with Hyper-V) from a DC to another, after powering the Nodes up, the IPs of all Hyper-V host and CMs released, I logged it locally to Hyper-V hosts and configure the internal IP (192.168.5.1/28) and the external IP same like before shutting the cluster down. I repeated the previous step with CVMs, I went through cd/etc/sysconfigs/ and edit network-scripts file and added the the external IP in the eth0 and the internal one (192.168.5.2/28) in eth1. Now Hyper-V FC is working fine but cannot start VMs due to the Nutanix cluster issue, whenever I tried to start cluster from any CVM, I get this message “WARNING genesis_utils.py:1211 Failed to reach a node where Genesis is up. Retrying” Is there any way to fix this issue or to repair cluster configuration without disrupting existing data? Thanks in advance

We have several AHV clusters across the WANscape all managed from Prism Central. On one AHV cluster, I created a Windows Server 2016 and a Windows Server 2019 VM from CD ISOs, patched and tweaked and these are our “Golden Images”.  I clone those and run sysprep and those are what I make new VMs from. Now I have two problems: 1.) in each cluster we have an RF2 container and an RF3 container so these VMs are bound to one or the other, and 2.) how do I get these to other clusters? To address the differing containers, I end up using the image service (create image of the disks and create new VM from those disks).  But now I’m wasting storage because I’m keeping copies of the same VM on two different containers. To address the differing clusters, I was thinking about setting up Protection Domains and letting Nutanix replicate them to each cluster.  They would only get updated once or twice per month for Windows patches.  Doing it this way would allow me to control replication schedule a
