I have been deleting some VMs in order to regain storage space but I don’t see any progress on the Home/Storage Summary window. How can I refresh this information?

There can be legitimate cases where access to external storage, such as massive tape libraries, massive disk archives is needed to some, but not all VMs running in a Nutanix cluster.  These VMs would be ideally under the AHV hypervisor, but is ESXi is an acceptable alternative.  These external storage systems would likely support 10GbE iSCSI (and faster) and/or 8 gbit fibre channel or faster. I understand that supporting such external access would make the VM “special” and would restrict VM mobility to other specific nodes that were configured for similar external access. The mobility issues are a later discussion, if external storage access is possible. If the external storage was a NAS device, running NFS and/or SMB, I believe it would be straigntforward … just define the external IP address in the VM, and access the data from the VM.  The same technique could be used for external iSCSI devices, for Ethernet iSCSi.   In many cases, if the external storage needed very high performance

 Is there a way to create isolated networks within the nutanix cluster that would allow communication only for the VMs that has a NIC connected to that network? Find attached an example of what I mean if we were talking about ESXi Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am dealing with an EOL cluster (3060). I am facing recently a case where the prism element does list a vm which does not exist on the AHV. It is a fake vm.  There is no active support to ask them. Any help?

Dears We are facing VM backup with HyperV and Veritas BAckuexec, The backupExec guys are saying Nutanix HyperV is not supported because it uses SMB share ? Is that true ? what is the other options to take HyperV Vm Backups

Good Day,  I am very new to Nutanix and recently purchased a cluster. It has only been running for about 30 days now managing my network and I am in the process of make some configurations to it. I need some assistance with an error message that I am receiving. I am using AHV as hyper-visor on my 3 node cluster. On this cluster I am running 5 Windows based Server VM's (not using Hyper-V or VMware). I followed the instructions from the Administration Guide by enabling VSS Shadow Copies on the Servers, then installing guest tools on all the servers and creating a protect domain Async DR. My configurations are working and snapshots are being created for my Domain Controllers and Application Servers. However, when a snapshot is trying to be created of my File Server, I keep getting the following error.  "Warning : VSS snapshot failed for the VM(s) FS-01 protected by the FileServer in the snapshot (169035, 1563300389081879, 960) because Quiescing guest VM(s) failed or timed out. Hi everybody, I see a “flapping” warning message for one SSD on my 3-Node Hybrid-Cluster (2x 1,92TB SSD per Node). Disk space usage for one or more disks on Controller VM ###.###.###.### is 88% which exceeds the threshold of 85%. I checked curator runs which were successfull.  From the I/O Metrics of a VM (Prism → VM → I/O Metrics) I only see the performance distribution (block size/read source usw.) for a point in time. I know Nutanix DSF handles tiering but is there a command/way to figure out which vm/vdisk claims most SSD capacity? Thanks for support, Marc

Besides the fact that LTS is Long Term Release and STS is Short Term Release, Is there any reason that STS shouldn't be used for production purposes over LTS ?I want to switch to 5.9 for the ESXi 6.7 compatibility.

My stargate contimues to restart. and I cannot find anyting in the GUI to indicate what it my be. When I get in the cli, i see the cluster says all four nodes are up. i try to ping 192.168.5.1 and the icmp request never completes. pinging all other ip’s work as expected. my esx is 6.5u3 aos is 5..5.5 my NCC is 3.7.0.1 foundations is 4.3  

I’m in the process of migrating from VMWare to AHV.  I was curious if there are any licensing changes in regard to SQL.  Do I need to just make sure that I have enough core licensing to run the actual VM or do I have to buy core licenses for every core on my entire 4 node cluster?  I heard of something called infinity that I could use to keep my VM on just one node?  Thanks for your help!

Hi there, I am new with Nutanix and I have a doubt about Acropolis licensing. We have 3 nutanix nodes with Acropolis Start Edition installed. Yesterday, my PRISM console report a License Feature Violation. Looking at https://www.nutanix.com/products/software-options , the only thing that I saw that could be wrong in my configuration was a Volume Group created for a test. Just to be sure, in an Acropolis Start Edition can we create volume groups or this option should only be used in PRO and ULTIMATE editions? The alert don’t give me more information about which feature is violating the license. Thanks in advance for the help! BR, Thelmo    

We are about to buy and 4 node box with 8*16 core processors.  On top we are going to utilize AHV Here we are going to run 2 or 3 Microsoft Operating system only Now what version of microsoft license we need to buy?

In our environment we are currently hosting 2 HP Gen9 ESXi servers. Our plan is to purchase a single HP Gen 10 and having a 3 node cluster made out of it. To start with I want to create a single node (Gen 10) and slowly start moving VM’s from the esx host to that Nutanix host without interrupting the 2 esx servers. So my question here is, How is it possible for me to start with a Single host and start adding hosts to make up a cluster of 3 nodes (1 → Gen10, 2-Gen9)?
