Hello, We build our vm images using packer and ansible and upload them to different endpoints. First time I uploaded the images to Prism Central using API v3 and batch processing. Prism Central deploys the image to all the cluster that are registrated. That works fine… BUT… HOW can i define the destination storage container on each cluster?? I can define placement policies etc but I cannot assign a category or policy to Storage Container. Prism Central always deploys the images to “SelfServiceContainer”. But we dont want that.

Hi everyone,I’m using the API to pull VM performance stats, however I’m having trouble interpreting what I’m seeing.For instance, I’m pulling “hypervisor.cpu_ready_time_ppm” for one of my VMs and getting the following output:{ "statsSpecificResponses": [ { "successful": true, "message": null, "startTimeInUsecs": 1576458000000000, "intervalInSecs": 30, "metric": "hypervisor.cpu_ready_time_ppm", "values": [ 108, 97, 144, 107, 89, 92, 78, 74, 47, 49, 90,.... Our hosts network ports are currently configured as Active-Backup bonds. I can determine which Ethernet port is currently active, which Ethernet port is on standby, and I can issue a command to failover the port. I would like to know if there is a command which can be run from the AHV which outputs the time and date-stamps of the last Host Ethernet port failover. 

Dear all, I need to provide some reporting for my management. I'm using REST API & Python, to extract values. I managed to get hosts information (cpu, ram) and physical storage without any problem. Now I need to get the logical storage summary and I can't find the values via the REST Api. (same values as we get on the PRISM homepage on Storage Summary part) It's probably a calculation but I can't find the right one. May I ask you to provide me the values and calculations. When is the next LTS version of the AOS due to release?

Hi,I have a customer with multiple clusters running hyper-V 2016. We are noticing dropped RX packets in the clusters. There was to an extent where there was a RX dropped packets alert generated in one of the clusters. So we proceeded to upgrade the Intel NIC firmware as recommended by support, after this, we notice the alert does not happen anymore. But we still see dropped packets.Is this normal or okay for a cluster/NIC to have rx dropped packets?

Hi, I have a customer who is having a cluster of 11 Hyper-V 2016 compute nodes and 2 AHV storage nodes. During a NCC health check, there is an error mentioning that the 2 AHV nodes are not syncing with any NTP server. The current NTP time sync setup is something like this.   Nutanix cluster (Hyper-V and AHV) → DC → NTP source   First question, how should we begin troubleshooting the issue? There is no remote access for our support to perform a webex session troubleshooting due to security.   Second question, customer is changing the NTP source. This new NTP source is 1-2 mins behind. Any impact if customer proceeds to update on the DC? Does the cluster auto sync up    Third question, at what time intervals does the nutanix cluster probe or sync up with NTP time?   Regards, Leonard Thng

Is there a way to execute a script (or PowerShell script/command) inside a newly created AHV VM which does not have an IP address yet?  The VM has Nutanix Guest Tools installed. I’m looking for automating the creation of a new VM. In VMware, I use the Invoke-VMScript command.  I didn’t know if Nutanix had something similar? Thanks! -TimG

2 of 3 nodes are fine and working. The 3nd CVM is up and i could ping it. Restart the Cluster with “allssh genesis stop cluster_health; cluster start” does not start these Cluster Partner. After Login in Prism i saw a “Disk degraded” for these 3rd node and now these disk is missing.    How to fix node Nr. 3 in a 3 Node Cluster?    

We are planning our AHV migration and would like to migrate about 75% of our VM’s (~400) during their negotiated patch outage windows to minimize how many app teams get to set our schedule for us.  Most of these outage windows are in the 3AM time frame. We would like to find an automated/scripted way to do the cutover so that we can set a job to run that script overnight during that window.  I’ve seen some REST calls that look like they could do it.  Has anyone actually done it?  If so, would they mind sharing a sanitized snippet of their Powershell/REST code? Hi all I´m attempting to create one disk image from http server (I know that NFS is preferred) but i got errors from PE, acli and REST API. AHV, CVM, PE, PC and the web server are one the same network (then I can exclude routing issues)  and on the web server (Centos 7.7, apache httpd-2.4.6-90) firewall and selinux are disabled and the url is called using IP to avoid dns issues. The content is available via wget but the image creation command ends with error 503 (Service Unavailable) while on the web server with log at debug level nothing is written on error and access log.   I have tested also to stop httpd and use python -m SimpleHTTPServer 80 but doesn´t work (I got one excepction that I cannot fully read and I don´t know where is logged)   What´s wrong? I´m missing something? I am having an External NTP server, Which is tagged to my CVM, unfortunately my AHV is not corresponding with mt NTP server even it is reachable from my hypervisor level. I have checked my Hypervisor thru ssh and run the command ‘date’ its gives me different time from my NTP server.

How do we browse Nutanix containers from command line to check what is contained in it.

Hi I have confuse about the output of the AHV network command "mange_ovs show_interfaces", In the result, I can check the link status and speed of the NICs. But what is the meaning of [b][u]mode[/u][/b] ? I attached a snapshot as the following that give the output of a node in AHV which have 10Gb and 25Gb nic cards, but the mode all display 10000. I'm trying to create a vm from our CentOS75 gold image. Pallavi Akella from Nutanix created the CentOS gold image using Disk and not an ISO. When I provision vms using powershell script. [list=1] [*]update the Clone.csv where I enter the following info name,VlanID,VMRam,Vcpu,cores,VMIP,clone,Image [/list]name,VlanID,8,2,2,VMIP,CentOS75, and save the file. [list=1] [*]Next I run cloneNTNX.ps1 script to provision the vm. This script also runs connect-Nutainx.ps1 and Create-NTNXVM.ps1 script. When I run the cloneNTNX.ps1 script I get below error. Hello is there a way to automatically install NGT guest tools without manually cdrom mounting process ? I want to use Packer to generate a centOS 7 golden image with preinstalled NGT guest tools thanks Gilles

I want to exclude some disks from my snapshot, using Rubrik on my Nutanix VM. I use the script from rubrik (which is a Patch) to exclude some disks from my nutanix vm like this: { "excludeDiskIds": [ "diskid1", "diskid2" ] } I get these disks id from the nutanix API (which is a get), but when I snapshot the machine from Rubrik the disks are still included. Am I doing something wrong? Is the "Nutanix Disk ID" equal to the one requested from the Rubrik script?  Thank you

I'm trying to upgrade ESXi 6.0 to 6.7U2 but when try to do it from Prism im getting errors on DRS not enabled. Now we don't have DRS license, our cluster is ESXi 6.0 Standard License, is there any way to do the upgrade without the needs of DRS ?I read few documents that even if i try to use vCenter Update manager update will fail becasue DRS is not enabled. Any workaround solution ?

Hi,Our metro cluster is running AOS5.10.8.1 (since yesterday’s update from AOS 5.10.8) on x8 NX-8035-G6. During an LCM update for bios and HDD, a node failed due to a bad DIMM. The node pair were eventually evicted from the meta data ring at which point support were supplying a replacement DIMM. After a lot of coaxing both nodes were back in the cluster and hosting vSphere6.5 without any apparent issue, however, since the outage we are being warned in PC\PE and NCC that the active and standby PDs are not mounted on all nodes, even after manually ensuring that the containers are available and connected correctly. Support have advised that this is a known NCC error and just wondered if anyone else in the community has experienced this issue? Thanks in advance

Hi    I followed the steps in page to upgrade NCC. I can upgrade NCC by a single installer file (ncc_installer_filename.sh) successfully. But I cannot upgrade NCC by a compressed tar file (ncc_installer_filename.tar.gz). After extract the installation package, I type command to run the install script as below. It showed “Installation of ncc failed on node xx.xx.xx.xx” . I tired to run the script on each cluster, they generated the same error. How to troubleshoot the issue?   

is there any storage motion or container motion if i using ahv? and if not, how we move vm data from one container to another container?
