HiWe have a cluster running on AHV and have recently found that its not possible to host guest VMs running Hyper-V within them, as a layer 2 hypervisor.The scenario is we have a few Windows 2016 VMs running on ESXi at the moment and each VM has the Hyper-V role installed in Windows 2016, providing containers for Docker.We want to move the VMs to our Nutanix cluster but running Hyper-V within a VM is not a supported type of nested virtualisation.Support say there are only 2 types of nested virtualisation supported:  Credential Guard and WSL2.Docker is able to use WSL2 for containers as an alternative to Hyper-V but our problem is we need to stick to Windows because our apps are coded for Windows and our Dev team are not keen on re-writing everything!I’m looking for an unofficial workaround, is there a way to force AHV to allow in-guest layer 2 hypervisors to run?   Its possible on ESXi, it feels like there should be an option in the host’s BIOS to enable compatibility.Any ideas would be

I would like to ask for some help on identifying why I receive below error prior to installing Nutanix Community Edition on a HPE Gen9 Server. We want to install Nutanix Community v2.0 for some LAB testing on a single 1U server.Steps we have taken for the install.1. I have created a bootable disk on a USB with version: phoenix-ce2.0-fraser-6.5.2-stable-fnd-5.3.4-x86_642. After boot all looks OK and we are configuring the disks as below: Attached is "Disk_config.PNG" - This is what we have as a Disk. Only C is SSD. The 16GB is the Install Media.3. I accept the EULA and scroll to the bottom4. Here is where the issue appears. We receive an ERROR Please supply 'Serial Number'. I have checked in NEXT and online but no luck..5. When I hit Enter it goes back to EULA.I was able to install the same way when I do it on ESXI, but on bare metal it looks like we are failing some king of S/N check..

I’m testing Nutanix on an old server (1065-G5 generation). The connection between Prism and vCenter is registered, but not established.  I’m using AOS 5.20.4, ESX 7.0.3, NCC 4.5.0.2. The port 80 is opened and redirected to HTTPS. What could be the cause?

Hi AllHavoc struck this morning when I tried to move my AHV cluster from old switch stack to new switch stack - the hosts, I think went into panic mode and started to restart various VMs.The background to this is:  I have 2 x Dell X4012 core switches and 2 x Dell N3024 ToR switches, currently due to moving VMware environment to Nutanix only 1 x X4012 is connected to NIC 1 on each of the 3 hosts.  From the X4012 there is a cross connect into the old VMware network Core blade switches (Dell 8024 x 2) which are connected to the old ToR N3048 switch stack, these are then connected to the router for VPLS and DMZ. So to move the connectivity, I thought I could add the second NICs of the hosts to the second X4012 and disconect the crossconnect and the first NICs thus using the newer switches, albeit on the opposite NICs.  I planned to reconfigure and update the first X4012 and add back into the stack with a LAG to the N3024 stack and no crossconnect.  I moved the NIC connections and lost all

Hello Nutanix Community,We are running Nutanix HCI on Lenovo servers having three-node cluster & currently the cluster has less capacity. We have 2 empty HDD slots on each Lenovo serves and we are planning to insert same capacity HDD drives on all 3 servers. So totally 6 HDD with a capacity of 2.4TB each.I would like to know how to configure and expand the storage? Please note that I’m new to Nutanix so kindly help me from scratch:-)Thanks in advance to everyone.

Hello,We used compression and deduplication for a while but now it is not necessary.I disabled these functions in the storage settings but the cluster is still showing the dedup space savings with no changes. This is after a week or so of turning dedupe off.I can’t find any documentation around disabling dedupe and what is required to ‘unoptimize’ the data.I’m using AOS 5:15.5.1 LTS and this is an old NX-1050 3 node system.TIA 

L.s,First time here with a question  (there must be a first time)We want to create a environment with a Splunk/Nutanix combination. The storage for Splunk will be smartstore, so the warm storage is S3 compliant storage, something Nutanix can provide.The question comes from the fact that we will span Splunk acros two site’s. So each site will have a storage cluster and a compute cluster (multiple clusters because more then 3 hops).  Site A has a compute cluster and a storage cluster, site B has the same. The Storage cluster will be synced between eachother.Splunk validated architecture says to have a loadbalancer between the Splunk indexers and the S3 storage. So when the storage in Site B fails.. Site B can use Site A as storage. But also the loadbalancer sends the compute cluster to the nearest storage available.Does Nutanix has something for this loadbalancer question? Can two clusters be adressed  by one ip, ore is it indeed necessary to use a external loadbalancer?Thanks in advance

Hi Team,What if some random people run a feature like Nutanix Object without having a proper license for it, what they just have is only for AOS license.1. will they successfully use it in the cluster? ​​​​​​​2.will that Object feature be affected when the active AOS license expires?3.Nutanix license is perpetual right? so when it expires all features are still working except support from TAC but what about the features that runs illegally, will they be affected once active license that doesnt supports the feature they enabled expires? Thank you so much for clarification.

For our development work, we are using /v3/hosts/list endpoint. As per the specs, we want to use length and offset for pagination to fetch large number of hosts. We tried using it as follows:curl --location --request POST 'https://<host>:9440/api/nutanix/v3/hosts/list' \--header 'accept: application/json' \--header 'Content-Type: application/json' \--header 'Authorization: Basic abc' \--data-raw '{ "kind": "host", "length": 1, "offset": 9}'However, length and offset params doesn’t seem to be working. It returns all the hosts (2 in our case) irrespective of the params passed.  Also, we used the same params in /v3/vms/list and they are working as expected. So, wanted to know if this is expected or is this an open issue? Is there a way to get all the hosts through Prism Central (v3) APIs?

I can scale out to 3-VM, so I get 3x “6 vCPUs, 26 GB of memory, and 500 GiB of storage.” But my question is, can I scale out from Small to Large as well ?And also from Small to X-Large..?Or I need drop my PC to achieve that..? I am new to nutanix. And I would like to know, which is the best approach for later on, when there is a need to expand.Also, as I have read, the Flow Virtual Networking requires “Advanced Networking”, which needs X-Large deployments.We might need that option later on. I have a used NX-3060-G5, with 4 nodesI am trying to install the new CE 2.0 on itEach node is configured with the e5-2650v4 x24x32 sticks of ramBMC version 3.94BIOS Version G4G5t8.0They all have the same 64gb statadoma 512GB SSD and a 1TB HDDI had used nodes a and b as test nodes orginally, then i tried to reinstall the new CE 2.0 on them and i keep getting failures at 2402/2430 hypervisor installation in progress with the read out to please take a look at the installer_vm_*.log inside foundation logs to debug hypervisor installation, then it restarts the install process and repeats. 2 of the nodes this installed on just fine, but they were not a reinstall of CE, they had vmware running on them previously.I have tried installing the latest supermicro bios and get the same issue,  i have screenshots of the logs that i could find.  Not sure if i can post them on here. Just seeing if anyone may be able to assist or point me in the right direction to find out why this keeps failing when al

We are running a Nutanix environment with 3 CVM nodes (A,B,C) on 3 separate ESXI hosts (7.0 Update 3) with 3 IPMI configurations using vCLS. Originally, Node A failed during an FSM upgrade and was unable to talk correctly to our Houston Datastore (MCQ-HOU). In doing so, there was no snapshot and we were unable to roll it back. We were currently in the midst of attempting to create a new node on the same ESXI host (.204) through Nutanix Prism but when searching for any existing or accessible hosts it does not find any of them and we are unable to create a new one. We attempted to shut down the cluster, unmount the Datastore on the broken node and re-mount it once we were able to clone a functioning node and change the configuration. Hello everyone,I have to install the first Nutanix cluster from a customer but I can't figure out how to setup the network.All customer switches (Aruba 2930, 2920) have the native vLAN (vLan1) dedicated to workstations and servers, while the management network is vLan ID 10 where the ESX, storage controllers, backup NAS and the Veeam server backing up the current infrastructure.This is the situation of all my customers, vLAN10 is completely isolated and unreachable from the native vLAN1, this was done to prevent any ransomware from affecting the backups as well.Now, Nutanix recommends configuring the CVM and hypervisor host VLAN as the native, or untagged, VLAN on the connected switch ports.I'm sure it would be nice to have all of the management in the native, adding a node would be much easier and I think the simpler things are kept the better.Furthermore, vLAN10 is propagated on many remote racks because obviously the backup NAS do not reside in the same racks as the servers, how can

I am trying to automate the process of Files failover/failback using REST API. I did test through Prism  Central GUI.  Looked into PC REST API explorer, but I am not finding a URL to make an API call. I am at file 4.2 version. Any ideas ?
