We have just had a new cluster installed and its running AHV, I have used Nutanix for about 6 years but always with ESX so its all a bit new to me!I’m sure I’ll have a few questions but currnetly I have this annoying issue! I have uploaded a few images to PC, qcow2 files, but when I deploy a VM using the images it always creates the VMs in the selfservicecontainer storage container, which is a tad annoying as I then have to move it manually using  acli vm.update_container vm-name container=container name wait=false In PC the storage container drop down box for the VM is grayed out so I can’t change it in the PC web GUI.  the cli works but I would like to create the VM in what ever storage container I want without having to move it after the event!  Is this possible? 

Hey,I have some older Nutanix hardware: the NX-1465-G5. It’s currently running an outdated version of AOS. I’m looking to reinstall the appliance with version 6.10. Is the G5 model compatible with AOS 6.10? Is there compatibility for my equipment?Thanks!

Hey,I deploy my 2024.2 PC over AOS 6.10.It XL cluster with scale.I register PE to PC and now I want to change the default password of PC (username->Change Password). But get the errorError updating admin password in Athena. What can I do to fix that? Thanks

I am trying to setup single node cluster using Foundation VM.  The Nutanix AHV provision and installation consistently failure on PowerEdge server with following error:CRITICAL clean_disks:151 Unable to initialize trusted storage deviceI assume; the installation could be failure because of the primary SSD drives are 447G drives.  But I do have other storage drives installed that has enough storage spaces. 2024-11-15 09:48:50,767Z log.py:102 INFO svm.py:733 Output of lsblk command. Greetings everyone,I have been successful at creating a rest api call to ADD a category to the VM.  The issue is we only want 1 category per VM, so if the VM already has a category assigned we want it to REPLACE the value and not ADD it.  With my current code (ie: use GET command of VM, remove Status, replace categories and categories_mapping then use PUT command) the JSON object looks good before uploading but afterwards I see the new category and the old one.  I tried using a PATCH command but AHV doesn’t like that (and it isn’t in the documentation either).   New Category = NEW_CATVM Original State:    "categories": {      "OLD_CAT": "OLD_CAT",    } VM Post My Update State:    "categories": {      "OLD_CAT": "OLD_CAT",      "NEW_CAT": "NEW_CAT"    } VM Desired State:    "categories": {      "NEW_CAT": "NEW_CAT"    }Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HelloI’m testing an install on a DL360 Gen10+ server. The server has an NS-204i boot controller with 2 x  disks and there is an MR216 controller with 2 x 3.84TB disks (believe they are PM893a).I have tried the install a few times but have been wiping the server each time it fails. I’ve now got to the stage where it fails with the same error each time so I need to know why its failing."CRITICAL svm_rescue:1046 No suitable SVM boot disk found"Should I have three arrays in the server? One for AHV, one for SVM/CVM and one for storage?How/where do I run lsscsi" to check for partitions that may need to be removed?Thanks in advance for any help with this.ThanksRussell

いつもお世話になっております。 Nutanix MOVEを使ってvCenter + ESXi環境のVMをNutanix AHVに移行しようと思っているのですが、MOVEのコンパチガイド(Supported AOS, ESXi, and Hyper-V Version)を見るとPrism Centralのバージョンの記載がありました。Prism Centralのバージョンとの互換性確認が必要になるときはNutanix AHVから同じくNutanix AHVに移行するとき等で、vCenter + ESXi環境のVMをNutanix AHVに移行するときは関係ない認識でよいでしょうか？ 以上、よろしくお願いいたします。

Hi,I upgraded AOS 6.8.1 to 6.10 but now I have a version incompatible with AHV and it is impossible via LCM to upgrade AHV. In the related KB 15185 there is a workaround but it does not work in my nested environment. Does anyone have a suggestion?Thanks

有識者の皆様 標題の件についてご教示お願いします。クラスタからノードを削除して別のクラスタに追加 or 新規クラスタ構築をする場合に、Foundationによる初期化は必須でしょうか？それとも初期化をせずにそのまま利用できるものでしょうか？（バージョンは統一されている前提）ラボでノード削除～ノード追加を実施しようとした際に、削除したノードをそのまま追加するとウィザードでエラーになって進めませんでした。手順が悪いのか、仕様なのかを知りたい意図です。（AOS 6.5）

Due to recurring discussions with customers, here again the question about the technical background. why can't I split Nutanix nodes in a cluster across 3 locations (these are less meters apart)? ESXi can do that, other virtualization solutions too (MS HV, PVE).I'm interested in a technical explanation, that it's not supported, I know, but why?In fact can we build stretched Clusters across Locations (No geolocations)? Thanks in advance

有識者の皆様 Oplogに関しての質問です。OplogはWrite Bufferとしての役割と理解しております。しかしながら、All Flash（すべてのSSDが同サイズ、同耐久、同速度、同インターフェース）の場合、OplogにWriteをしたとしても、性能面・耐久面ではメリットがなく、直接Extent StoreにWriteした方が良いように思います。すべて同一のSSDで構成されるクラスタの場合、Oplogはどのような役割になりますか？もしくは、同一SSDのみのクラスタでOplogは意味がない、ということであればキャッシュSSDとキャパシティSSDの2層にした方が効率が良いでしょうか？

有識者の皆様 細かいことが気になってしまい、ご教示いただけると幸いです。AOSの重複排除はCache DeduplicationとCapacity Deduplicationの2つがある理解だったのですが、GUIの設定（Storage Container → Advanced Settings ）では、Capacity Deduplicationの項目しかなくなっています。（AOS6.10） 古いドキュメントなどを見るとCache Deduplicationの項目もあったようなのですが、Cache Deduplicationは機能として無くなったのでしょうか？

Hi All,Our nutanix 1175S-G9 is a 4-port 10G BaseT, initially connected to the  two portseth0, eth2,  later, I change  to eth0 and eth1, and then NCC check will show the message eth2 down. Is there any solution ?

I accidentally deleted a few good VMs while cleaning up after migration from VMware to Nutanix, couldn’t find a straightforward way to restore them from recycle Bin just Like on a normal Computer, So the easiest way to was to re-migrate the VMs needed.If only i could just go to cluster recycle bin and do the restoration would save a lot of time!!

What is the best way to rebuild a single node cluster to a 5 node cluster with all the VMs intact with minimal downtime?

I am trying to get the WInPE drivers so I can support our virtual device hosted on a Nutanix system.  However, every link directs me to the Nutanix support page where I have to activate my ID with a licence code or serial number.  I am the consumer of the system, I have none of these values, and my server team who might have these will not give me the codes.  What can I do to get the drivers I need so I can do my job and test our OSD processes with a Nutanix VM client?

Hi, Sorry if my english is poor, i’m trying to describe my problem as short as i can.Recently, we’ve bought new G9 NX appliance, and migrate all our production on it, that great.So now, we got 18 G5 NX node.I made 2 clusters of 9 nodes, no problems.My problems starts here :- With one of my collegues we want to try to create a bridge but without plug the ethThe test we want to do was successfull, and we were making somes XRay bench by the same time.-Finally we want to suppress this bridge and it’s now possible, i got a message were “Curie Scenario failed to revoke token.I’ve tried to follow KB7071 but nothing is solve.There is some jpg of my AOS & CVM I’ve even check if i can kill a queued or running task with ergon, but not finding it.Its impossible to put host in maintenance mode or doing a LCM by now.Please help me :)   

有識者の皆様、表題の件についてご教示お願いします。 AHV 6.7からオンデマンドのCross Cluster Live Migrationが可能になったと把握しております。以下のページで、Cross-Cluster Live Migration のライセンス要件を確認すると、NCI Starterにはチェックがついておりません。https://www.nutanix.com/products/cloud-platform/software-options AHV 6.7 以降の環境でOn-Demand CCLMを実行する場合は上位ライセンスが必要となりますか？それとも上記の記載は旧来のProtection Domainを利用したCCLMであり、AHV 6.7以降のOn-Demand CCLMはNCI Starterから利用可能でしょうか？

いつもお世話になっております。最近Nutanix様の製品について勉強し始めたところで検討違いな質問かもしれませんがよろしくお願いします。 ハイパーバイザーはESXiを使用しつつストレージ仮想化ソフトとしてNutanix(CVM)を動かす、というような構成の場合、これらを管理するGUIツールとしてはvCenter(VCSA)をデプロイしてのvSphere Clientを使用するのかPrismを使用するのか、はたまた両方使用する必要があるのか、もしくは連携プラグインのようなものがあってどちらかからすべてを操作できるようになるのか、どういったイメージになりますでしょうか。 例えばVMを移動させるvMotionのような操作をするときESXi環境ならvSphere Clientから操作できますし、AOSを使用する場合ならPrismから操作することになると思います。今回のようにESXiを使いつつNutanix(CVM)を利用する構成の場合、GUIでの運用がどうなるのかご教示いただければ幸いです。 以上、よろしくお願いいたします。

お世話になります。AOS 6.6以降でストレージポリシーによるRF設定が仮想マシン単位で可能になった認識なのですが、このストレージポリシーの動作と推奨について教えていただきたいです。 質問①ストレージポリシーによるRF設定は仮想マシンが配置されるストレージコンテナのRF設定を上書きする形になりますか？それともポリシーに準じたストレージコンテナに自動配置されるような動作でしょうか？たとえば、RF3のストレージコンテナが1つだけ存在している環境で、ストレージポリシーによってRF2の仮想マシンを作成可能でしょうか？ 質問②①にて、ストレージコンテナのRF設定をポリシーで上書き可能である場合、ストレージコンテナを複数作成する必要性はないでしょうか？それともベストプラクティスとしてはストレージポリシーによる管理が可能になった最新バージョンにおいても、用途ごとにストレージコンテナを複数作成する方が良いのでしょうか？

お世話になります。NutanixはvSANと異なり、3ノード構成の場合でもノード障害時にリビルドが走る動作になっていますが、Redundancy Factor＝２であるため、追加の障害には耐えられない理解です。そのため、Nutanixの3ノード構成におけるリビルドの意味は、データ冗長性の復活ではなく、データローカリティの復活による性能改善の意味合いのみとなりますか？可用性面でも優位に働くのかを気にしております。
