Hi,I am trying to move a Windows Server 2012 R2 VM from Xenserver to AHV. With reference to this article: AHV | Migrating a Windows VM from XenServer to AHV everything is working great except when I am at the last step. When I turn on the VM in AHV, I am getting a boot device not found error and windows will not boot up.Windows will start with a windows icon throws the error and restarts, then goes into disk repair, reboots and same error and goes into the troubleshooting menu and when I am restart the VM in AHV it again and always goes into the boot disk inaccessible error.I made sure all the Xen components are already uninstalled from the vm and Nutanix VirtIO drivers are also installed. Tried with loading the image as scsi and IDE, but still going into the same error. Also tried booting up in safe mode, tried disk repair, etc. but no luck.Please help if someone has a solution.PS: I am migrating Windows Server 2012 R2 from XenServer to Nutanix AHV.

What options are available within nutanix to speed up replication to a remote site? The best i am able to get on a single stream is about 20MBps (160mbps) with an aggregate speed of about 60MBps (480mbps) spread out over several streams. However, we have a 10gbps link between sites, so i expected to get better throughput.

What's my goal? Right. I have 3 networks that cannot talk to each other for "reasons". Mostly because we have a test system that utilizes the same IP addresses (ORACLE Reasons) and we test & demo software in Prod, Demo, & Test networks. I just did a foundation on my system because I did an upgrade and the networking customization I had to do with OVS changed and wouldn't work anymore. Now that I'm working on a new install, I'm having trouble configuring the network and getting issues I didn't have before. I've created and recreated several times using different varieties of below commands and still same outcome. Some commands below are from various tries, but same result. Hi everyone, I´m trying to export the VMs from AHV in vmdk and qcow2 formats directly from a CVM. Sometimes I get the errors bellow: qemu-img: NFS Error: NFS: Write failed with NFS3ERR_JUKEBOX(-11) qemu-img: error while writing sector 44426880: Resource temporarily unavailable In other situations Putty just close in the middle of the copy. After several retries, I finally made backup of two big VMs (around 50 gb). The commands that I am using are: qemu-img convert -O vmdk nfs://127.0.0.1/TKWORKSTATION/.acropolis/vmdisk/d9759595-6dee-4138-bcc0-bad7bf8e1075 nfs://127.0.0.1/Backup_VM/TAIPEI.vmdk qemu-img convert -c nfs://127.0.0.1/TKWORKSTATION/.acropolis/vmdisk/d9759595-6dee-4138-bcc0-bad7bf8e1075 -O qcow2 nfs://127.0.0.1/Backup_VM/TAIPEI.qcow2 Nutanix Community lastest version. Hi, I recently updated NOS to 4.6.1.1 and now when I'm trying to look for new updates it stuck on Loading... and I can't see if new updates are available. It's the same thing for all tabs (Acropolis, Hypervisor, Firmware, NCC, Foundation). Hi, we have the need for nested shares on our fileserver. While this was easy on NetApp Filer it seems impossible with Nutanix AFS, or I am missing something. We are currently on latest GA release AFS 2.0.2. with AOS 5.0.2 on ESXi 6.0U2. Is this on the roadmap or even possible with AFS 2.1? Replacing Fileservers (Windows or NetApp, doesnt matter) could only be done with full feature set. best regards Steffen

As the most of you probably know, with AOS 5.6, has been introduced the Volume Group with Load Balancing function, well known as VGLB As i know the 5.6 version is in short term support. Now i'm deploying a two Oracle 12c RAC clusters on 2 8000 6-nodes AOS-AHV clusters with AOS 5.5.3.1. It involves using volume group with multiple vdisk, network related configuration, Linux related tuning and so on... Of course, with 5.5.3.1 (so far the latest GA version in long term support), i've not the VGLS choice, every volume group's I/O is managed by a single CVM. By the other side, with AOS 5.6, i could distribute this load on every single CVM and every single node storage on the cluster. Of couse this heavily impact on the resiliency, the performance and the resources distribution. The questions are two and i need some suggestions. 1) could be better to upgrade to 5.6 even if it is in short term support? 2) is it possible to update "on the fly" the volumes's configuration with "vg.upd

Can anyone tell me if the inter-site (not intra-site, I am talking about DR replication traffic between clusters) is moved to the backplane traffic port when network segmentation is enabled? Hi, I'm struggling with backups while using KVM. We've been using snapshots for our standard backup process and these work just fine within the cluster. I can recover a VM either as a new clone to retrieve lost files or to directly replace the original in case of a major crash. My next problem is exporting those snapshots to another cluster (since DR isn't available for KVM yet) or to a non-Nutanix archival server. That appears not to be possible. Everything I've been suggested so far involves backing up the VM internally or copying the iSCSI device with dd which would involve us having two completely separate backup processes running in parallel. Not fun. Is there a way to export the Nutanix drives to another server? Logically they must exist somewhere so should be copyable.

Hi When a blueprint creates an appliction the values of the variables are displayed on the overview page of the application. However if the variables contain calm macros, for example @ @{address}@@ then that text is display and not the value of the macro. I have a blueprint which creates a web service that the user who runs the blueprint needs to connect to using their web browser. My idea was to have the URL in a variable so it would appear in the overview page and the user could just copy and paste it into their browser. It would be even better if the blueprint could open the web page for the user.

I have encountered an issue while migrating to a dvs, I am running esxi 6.5 on a 3 node cluster. The setup is new so there are no VMs apart from the CVMs and a test VM on the host. The dvs already exists and I am doing one node at a time and as such I added one of the NICs from node A to the dvs. I then did a quick test with the test VM on each port group I have configured to confirm connectivity. I then attempted to migrate the VM Network port group created on vSwitch0 that the CVM on node A was connected to, the migration "worked" but connectivity to the CVM was lost. In addition to losing connectivity to the CVM on node A, I am now unable to access prism from any of the CVMs or cluster IP. The page loads but once I attempt to login nothing happens. I even powered off node A in hopes that I can get to prism but still no luck. All CVMs and the cluster IP are reachable via IP, the esxi hosts for node B and C are also fine and reachable. Not sure where to go from here other than tear do

I installed Prism Central but when I try to log, all the user and pass are bad, I try with , admin admin, admin Nutanix/4u, admin nutanix/4u Any idea?

Hi I have a calm blue print which the user can use to create an app which does some processing depending on the value of variables specified by the user and stores the result in persistent storage. But then the user has to remeber to delete the application. Is there any way to get the blue print to delete the application affter it has done the processing? I can shutdown the VM by having the service start call service stop with a task to execute "shutdown -h +1" but that still leaves the app

I deployed a Nutanix Cluster (AOS version 5.8) with ESXi 6.5. And I deployed a Prism Central 5.8 on it. There're some articles on internet, saying App Management supports ESXi, starting from PrismCentral version 5.7. Is it true? In my case, I can't find [b]Self Service & Apps[/b] from the pull-down list, when I click question mark icon in the main menu on PrismCentral 5.8. I did see "PC Scale out", "Enable app management" and "Microsegmentation", but not "[b]Self Service & Apps".[/b] When I click "Enable app management", I see the following error. [list] [*]Precheck failures: [/list] Host Cluster Registered Please check that the cluster on which this Prism Central is hosted is registered to it. I had already registered my Nutanix cluster into this PrismCentral. It looks to me that App management or self service doesn't support ESXi, correct? Or is there anything I missed?

Does anyone know if/how I can get a count of all vDisks in my cluster, including vDisks associated with snapshots? We want to increase our data retention and it appears the limitation on snapshots is the number of vDisks so I need to figure out how many we have with our current number of VMs and snapshots. Running AOS 5.6, NCC 3.5.2, Hyper-V 2012r2. Any help appreciated, please let me know if there's more info I can provide. Thanks! David

Hello, When I try to do a consistent snapshot I get this: Warning : Vss snapshot failed for the VM(s) xxx, protected by xxx because Quiescing guest VM(s) failed or timed out. Impact : Crash consistent snapshot is taken instead of application consistent snapshot. Cause : Guest is not able to quiesce VM due to internal error. The servers has the NGT installed, are alone in the consistency group. Before I open a case, I'd like to have your hindsight. Thanks.

Hello, I'm curious if anyone else has had issue getting Windows authentication with WS-man setup within CALM for the Login Check and remote execution of scripts. I have followed the docs and redone the setup a few times for validation, but the login check still fails with a vague error that just says to check out WINRM troubleshooting help. What's odd is that after I provision the Windows image, I can manually invoke commands for remote execution and login with the following command against the newly provisioned IP: PS C:\Users\Administrator> Invoke-Command -ComputerName 10.32.4.246 -ScriptBlock { $PSVersionTable.PSversion } -Credential administrator@domain.com My Karan service is installed and configured with a domain administrator, all PS commands in the document have been run as "administrator" on the Karan server and the target base Windows image as required. I know in Calm you can create variables in the service, and then use those variables throughout the config using @@{service.variable}@@. However, it doesn't seem like you can use those in cloud-init scripts. I'd like to be able to pass a variable that the user sets at the time of deployment (the IP address), which would then be used in the cloud-init script. Sometimes I need to know what version Foundation can install what version ESXi Or I only use the newest version Foundation to install older version ESXi? Does it always work? Hi all, today I wanted to upgrade NOS on one of our clusters from 4.1.x to 4.6.3 which worked perfectly fine for another cluster. The first CVM was updated successfully but the next CVM Update failed. (Maybe due to connectivity issues to the host.) upgrade_status says, that the node is upgrading right now, but in fact the CVM is powered off and won't boot. After it displays the following information it reboots fails again and after the second reboot it stays shut down.
