Hello - I'm new to Nutanix and am in the middle of taking the online 5.5 course in the education portal. I have a simple question about Cloud connect: In the section about Cloud Connect features the very first thing you read is "data transmitted is already deduplicated and users can choose to enable compression on the local storage container.." Yet when I look at the section regarding General Recommendations and Limitations I see the following: "It is not recommended to enable deduplication on the source cluster..." Can you please help me understand this? This looks like a complete contradiction.

Has anyone experienced the X-Ray tests going to 0% but staying 'open'? For the last few days our X-Ray tests have been running to completion but not finishing. As a result the additional tests do not get run. The curie log indicates "exiting _cluster_results_loop" but the tests hang open at 0% and they have to be cancelled.

I used an older version of Move back in September to migrate out ESXi VMs to AHV, and now with the GA release of Hyper-V with v3.0.2 I figured I'd give that a go. I just deployed 3.0.2 and attempted to add my Hyper-V box and it connects, however, it's not inventorying any VMs. I have 6 running VMs on this box so I'm not sure what the issue is. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

We attempted to migrate our ODNS as well as setup new VM's in AHV by extracting the vmdk's but each time we get the below screen on boot. Has anyone else successfully got the ODNS VA to run in AHV? I am looking for a solution to change the web GUI password of the user nutanix in Xtract 2.0.3. In the doc I only see how to change it during the first login. I have already opened a ticket with support. But there I was told to redeploy the Xtract VM to change the password. This is not really a solution for me to spend all the time again to have all configured just to have another password. Can someone help me with that?

If we use the ESXi/Hyper-v as the Hypervisor, does the Satadom will be formatted(Removing AHV) and then install ESXi? What happens to CVM in this case? Any manual operation is required?

Hi all. I have read the document about the different failure scenarios. For me it is still not clear, what really happens, if the data resiliency status is still critical and another node fails. In the doc I read this: With two sets of physical disks that are inaccessible, there would be a chance that some VM data extents are missing completely. In our starting time when using Nutanix (version 3.x) I remember our Nutanix partner was telling me, in such a case the cluster stops to make sure data keeps consistent. Do I have some UVMs that are not working any more correctly or is cluster stopping and all UVMs are stopped? Thank you very much. Kind regards, Stefan

Dear contributors, We have purchased Nutanix appliances and I am working as part of the IT Security team. We have enforced the security settings on CVM and AHV (STIG, banner, ...) and, as part of our duties, we carry out regular checks to make sure that the security settings have not been altered. For this, we would like to have nominative accounts which are able to connect through SSH and be able to check on the settings of the components. Is it possible to do? If yes, how can we proceed? Issue resolved, but alerts persisting with old time stamp. alerts ware generated during network maintenance, now all ok need to clear logs, need procedure to clear the old alerts.

I just created 4 new Server 2012R2 VMs and this morning I see yellow exclamation points on them with the message "VSS snapshot is not supported for the VM 'WinSrv12R2', because VM has IDE disks attached" These were created with 100G SATA drives and a SATA CD-ROM so I cant figure out why I'm seeing this message. I recently had an individual VM whose CPU spiked to between 94-98% for roughly 6 hours. I'd only caught it because the user finally called in and said their VM was slow. In Prism it wasn't showing a warning at all, but I could very clearly see that the CPU was pegged. I wondered if there was any way to set up an email alert for if CPU/RAM at the VM-level has sustained utilization above a certain threshold?

Hi. We have a large grouping of VM's that are not always required to be running and would like to find a way to shutdown these particular VM's on a sunday night. Now anyone know how to find a group of VM's (either via label, project, category etc) and pass a shutdown command. Ideally I would like to do this via PowerShell but I will take anything.

I've written a PoSH script which does the following. [list=1] [*]Authenticates to Prism Central V3 API [*]Calls /category/query API to get a list of VM uuid's that are members of the PROD category. [*]Write this list of uuid's to a string [*]Connect to the NTNX cluster using Nutanix PowerShell cmdlets. [*]Iterate through the above string and execute Set-NTNXVMPowerState against the uuid's. [/list] Steps 1 - 4 work as expected. Step 5 seems to iterate through the list as it should but when I put in the Set-NTNXVMPowerState command to be executed, it throws an access denied error. Once the script gives the error, the powershell connection looks like it locks the account and you cannot execute any commands. If I comment out the foreach loop, and just execute a normal PoSH cmdlet (after the Connect-NTNXCluster) such as Get-NTNXClusterInfo, it works fine.
