Hey, We recently upgraded on of our clusters to AOS 5.01. This process went flawlessly! This is the main reason I'm posting this(preventing others to waste their time on this); It took me quite a while to find this "invisible button". As a pre-step to a planned failover, I want to take a snapshot of each of my Metro PD's (4 total). Together, they are over 5 TB in used storage. Since they're all in the same Storage Pool I plan on doing one at a time so as to not compound the i/o load - does this make sense? Also, can anyone provide a *rough* estimate of how long a PD snapshot should take to complete? Thanks!

Hi everyone, considering AHV hypervisor, which are the possible options to backup the virtual machines? As far as I know, the only certified backup software is commvault... but I was wondering if AHV/prism can do vm-level backup and which are the features (guest/application consistency, possibility to file level restore ecc....) and differences compared to Commvault. Is it ok to install Nutanix Guest Tools in a guest vm template before the template is Sysprepped? I need to deploy a bunch of Server 2008 r2 VMs that will need NGT. I'm aware that it's easy to automate NGT install AFTER vm deployment and I do that for most cases; however on Server 2008 r2 builds there's a techinical limitation that prevents this from working. So I'm wondering if there is anything in NGT that will break if the vm is Sysprepped afterward.

Hi, We just fired up a 3 node cluster HX1310 with AHV. Trying to keep things lean and mean... When a Windows guest needs more CPU, is it "better" to go with more vcores or more vcpu in AHV? I'm asking from a performance perspective and perhaps licensing perspecitve..... Thanks, G

The customer I currently support has a pair of Nutanix clusters running on the Dell PowerEdge XC630-10 harward platform. They have really enjoyed the performance and overall gain (simplicity of the design, reduction in administration/alerts, etc.) since moving to the Nutanix platform. The topic of a server refresh has arisen, and we're beginning to collect all the different metrics we will need to analyze to support this effort. After that's done, though, the planning and designing will begin. In the past, I've used the Nutanix Sizer. That since seems to be locked away behind a Nutanix/Partner Login page now? Does this still exist? Is there one that supports the Dell hardware platform line? Any other workload sizing resources for the theoretical migration planning would be much appreciated. We've setup Prism Central long time ago and everything works in the Prism Central since it's Active Directory Integrated. We can also login using the Admin account in the Portal. How can we change the Prsim Central CVM Password if we no longer can access it.

Is there a way to export/import/backup configuration of Prism Central / Element?

Hi All, I upgraded our single node cluster last night, and it went pretty smooth. However, today I am noticing placeholder text (i.e. "vm_critical_alerts" instead of "Critical Alerts" and many, many fields coming back simply as undefined. Is this a known issue or did something go awry during upgrade? I am trying to find a download link for AOS 4.7.3.1. It looks like only 4.7.3.3 is available. Where would I find a link to download older AOS versions?

What is the best approach to migrate data to a nutanix hyper-v failover cluster from a normal hyper-v failover cluster. I used export from the old host (Whitelisted in PRISM) and it succeeds fine but as the data is exported to the cluster FQDN, how do I know which node to use to import the files to make best use of data locality? is there a way to have the VM exported to a specific node?

Hi all We have a small DEV 3 node lab to test features before moving forward, one feature in 5.0 we are looking forward too is the Self service portal, after upgrading to 5.0 I have selected the SSP which then asks for an ldap user, although this user authenticates correctly from Prism / Authentication / test When entering the same user in the cresentials for SSP I get the following error; Server with access directory url:ldaps://****** is down Has anyone seen this? is ldaps supported? as mentioned it works for Prism authentication This clutser is not under support, we are looking at a dev support option for this currently but we do have many other clusters Thanks Jason

This is very minor but I wanted to get it out there. I'm running PrismCentral 4.7.3.3 to manage 6 clusters - each of those other 6 clusters are at AOS 4.7.3.1 however, in PrismCentral, under 'Explore', 'Clusters', the AOS version is still showing as the original version. It's been several weeks like this now (see below). We are using Apache Cloudstack 4.8.0 with Vmware 5.5 to to provide IAAS services . We want to use Nutanix as underlying infrastructure Is this implementation supported ? Is there any recommendations, best practices for deployment or a reference architecture? We also plan to have HA for a class of our vm whereas others should not be replicated. What kind of mapping between Cloudstack and Vmware organisation units, and Nutnaix Protections domains strategies should we have to achieve this goal. If none of the above is supported is Apache Cloudstack in Nutanix roadmap on Vmware or AHV ? Thank you in advance

Hi last week we installed the first Nutanix cluster in Venezuela with 3 nodes, it was founded and as a best practice, the vSwitch br0 was "splited"into two vswitches by creating the br1 then the 10 GBE interfaces (eth2 and eth3) were assigned to the br0 and the 1 GBE interfaces (eth0 and eth1) were assigned to the br1, the administrator of the cluster decided to switch that assignment, i.e. to assign the 1 GBE interfaces to the br0 and the 10 GBE interfaces to the br1 by executing on the CVM's command line the command. [b][i]allssh manage_ovs --bridge_name br0 --bond_name bond0 --interface 1g update_uplinks[/i][/b] after the third node response to the command, the connection to the ssh sesion to the CVM was lost and now can't access the CVMs to revert the command neither ssh connection nor PRISM. In the nodes the 1 GBE interfaces leds are orange and red, only have access to the console by connecting a monitor and a keyboard to the physical nodes, my question is, does exist a way t

Right now we about to push ESXi 5.5 u3b so we can move on up to AOS 4.7.3.2. Since Nutanix doesn't support pushing out patches, we planned to do that with VUM which is fine. At least saving time from having to bring down each node manually for upgrading to u3b. On top of patching, we're also installing NFS VAAI VIB. In our lab, we do it via command line, but has anyone found a zip, or package that VUM can support pushing out that way we can just package our baseline with updates and the VIB file? We can't find anywhere that has a zip file or anything we can leverage thus far. Since we have two data centers a good number of nodes in the cluster at each, We'd love to save time if at all possible, so any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
