PD snapshot time-to-complete

As a pre-step to a planned failover, I want to take a snapshot of each of my Metro PD's (4 total). Together, they are over 5 TB in used storage. Since they're all in the same Storage Pool I plan on doing one at a time so as to not compound the i/o load - does this make sense? Also, can anyone provide a *rough* estimate of how long a PD snapshot should take to complete? Thanks!

Backup from AHV

Hi everyone, considering AHV hypervisor, which are the possible options to backup the virtual machines? As far as I know, the only certified backup software is commvault... but I was wondering if AHV/prism can do vm-level backup and which are the features (guest/application consistency, possibility to file level restore ecc....) and differences compared to Commvault. Thank you

Install NGT on VM template before Sysprep?

Is it ok to install Nutanix Guest Tools in a guest vm template before the template is Sysprepped? I need to deploy a bunch of Server 2008 r2 VMs that will need NGT. I'm aware that it's easy to automate NGT install AFTER vm deployment and I do that for most cases; however on Server 2008 r2 builds there's a techinical limitation that prevents this from working. So I'm wondering if there is anything in NGT that will break if the vm is Sysprepped afterward.

AHV vcpu vs vcores

Hi, We just fired up a 3 node cluster HX1310 with AHV. Trying to keep things lean and mean... When a Windows guest needs more CPU, is it "better" to go with more vcores or more vcpu in AHV? I'm asking from a performance perspective and perhaps licensing perspecitve..... Thanks, G

DataCenter Refresh and the Nutanix Sizer for the Dell Product Line

The customer I currently support has a pair of Nutanix clusters running on the Dell PowerEdge XC630-10 harward platform. They have really enjoyed the performance and overall gain (simplicity of the design, reduction in administration/alerts, etc.) since moving to the Nutanix platform. The topic of a server refresh has arisen, and we're beginning to collect all the different metrics we will need to analyze to support this effort. After that's done, though, the planning and designing will begin. In the past, I've used the Nutanix Sizer. That since seems to be locked away behind a Nutanix/Partner Login page now? Does this still exist? Is there one that supports the Dell hardware platform line? Any other workload sizing resources for the theoretical migration planning would be much appreciated. Prism Central CVM Password is no longer working, How can we reset the Prism Central CVM password?

We've setup Prism Central long time ago and everything works in the Prism Central since it's Active Directory Integrated. We can also login using the Admin account in the Portal. How can we change the Prsim Central CVM Password if we no longer can access it.

Place holder text and "undefined" in GUI after upgrade to 5.0

Hi All, I upgraded our single node cluster last night, and it went pretty smooth. However, today I am noticing placeholder text (i.e. "vm_critical_alerts" instead of "Critical Alerts" and many, many fields coming back simply as undefined. Is this a known issue or did something go awry during upgrade? Solved: OSD via SCCM problem

Hello, i ran into an error with my OS-Deployment via SCCM on my AHV cluster. I apply the Nutanix related drivers in the Tasksequence with following query: [b][i]Select * from Win32_ComputerSystem Where Model LIKE "KVM"[/i][/b] This worked for me all the time. After i migrated the cluster to AOS5.0 this step is skipped in the tasksequence with a message that says that this condition is FALSE. Could it be, that a newly created vm an a AOS5.0 based cluster displays another Model?My running vms on this cluster still show KVM as modul, so i'm a little bit confused.

Migrate Data to Hyper-V cluster from another Hyper-V Cluster

What is the best approach to migrate data to a nutanix hyper-v failover cluster from a normal hyper-v failover cluster. I used export from the old host (Whitelisted in PRISM) and it succeeds fine but as the data is exported to the cluster FQDN, how do I know which node to use to import the files to make best use of data locality? is there a way to have the VM exported to a specific node?

Self Service Portal - ladap failure

Hi all We have a small DEV 3 node lab to test features before moving forward, one feature in 5.0 we are looking forward too is the Self service portal, after upgrading to 5.0 I have selected the SSP which then asks for an ldap user, although this user authenticates correctly from Prism / Authentication / test When entering the same user in the cresentials for SSP I get the following error; Server with access directory url:ldaps://****** is down Has anyone seen this? is ldaps supported? as mentioned it works for Prism authentication This clutser is not under support, we are looking at a dev support option for this currently but we do have many other clusters Thanks Jason

AOS version of clusters not updated in PrismCentral

This is very minor but I wanted to get it out there. I'm running PrismCentral 4.7.3.3 to manage 6 clusters - each of those other 6 clusters are at AOS 4.7.3.1 however, in PrismCentral, under 'Explore', 'Clusters', the AOS version is still showing as the original version. It's been several weeks like this now (see below). Reimaging NX-1065-G5 Failed

Hi All, Thanks for caring.. My Name Rizki, you can call me R.P so here my problem, i'm strugle when i try to install/reimaging block NX-1065-g5 my component to reimaging this is AOS 4.7.3.3 Foundation 3.6 Hypervisor AHV-20160601.44 from what i know in compatibility matrix is the component compatible but... i strugle when i reach 12%imaging, it stuck at "preparing blablaba installer" anybody can advice me? or do you any solution Thanks R.P

BMC Firmware Version Appreance error on PRISM after Upgrading

Hi, I upgraded BMC Firmware from 03.24 to -> 03.40 via IPMI UI today since that i can check the version of BMC on IPMI UI page that its 03.40 upgraded among 3nodes which i upgraded but its not the same on PRISM even its accomplished. i can only see that BMC Firmware 03.40 isnt upgraded on PRISM among 3nodes i use AOS 4.7.3.2 with AHV Nutanix 20160601.44 [img]https://d1qy7qyune0vt1.cloudfront.net/nutanix-us/attachment/2107iA6B3D2779D7382C9.png[/img] additionally, i have this fail message via conducting ncc health check funtion All 4nodes have intel CPU in them. Nutanix with Nexus Switch

Dear Expert, My Nutanix environment as per below: 4block of Nutanix ( 8 Node ) connect to Nexus Access Switch with 10G SPF cable. Hypervisor: VMware 5.5 Issue: from vCenter we detect the host keep disconnected randomly. and vCenter become HANG Workaround: Ping continuously on Host. Apache Cloudstack / Vmware / Nutanix

We are using Apache Cloudstack 4.8.0 with Vmware 5.5 to to provide IAAS services . We want to use Nutanix as underlying infrastructure Is this implementation supported ? Is there any recommendations, best practices for deployment or a reference architecture? We also plan to have HA for a class of our vm whereas others should not be replicated. What kind of mapping between Cloudstack and Vmware organisation units, and Nutnaix Protections domains strategies should we have to achieve this goal. If none of the above is supported is Apache Cloudstack in Nutanix roadmap on Vmware or AHV ? Thank you in advance

Can't access CVMs in the cluster after change 1 GBE interfaces to br0

Hi last week we installed the first Nutanix cluster in Venezuela with 3 nodes, it was founded and as a best practice, the vSwitch br0 was "splited"into two vswitches by creating the br1 then the 10 GBE interfaces (eth2 and eth3) were assigned to the br0 and the 1 GBE interfaces (eth0 and eth1) were assigned to the br1, the administrator of the cluster decided to switch that assignment, i.e. to assign the 1 GBE interfaces to the br0 and the 10 GBE interfaces to the br1 by executing on the CVM's command line the command. [b][i]allssh manage_ovs --bridge_name br0 --bond_name bond0 --interface 1g update_uplinks[/i][/b] after the third node response to the command, the connection to the ssh sesion to the CVM was lost and now can't access the CVMs to revert the command neither ssh connection nor PRISM. In the nodes the 1 GBE interfaces leds are orange and red, only have access to the console by connecting a monitor and a keyboard to the physical nodes, my question is, does exist a way to rev

Installing NFS VAAI VIB with VUM?

Right now we about to push ESXi 5.5 u3b so we can move on up to AOS 4.7.3.2. Since Nutanix doesn't support pushing out patches, we planned to do that with VUM which is fine. At least saving time from having to bring down each node manually for upgrading to u3b. On top of patching, we're also installing NFS VAAI VIB. In our lab, we do it via command line, but has anyone found a zip, or package that VUM can support pushing out that way we can just package our baseline with updates and the VIB file? We can't find anywhere that has a zip file or anything we can leverage thus far. Since we have two data centers a good number of nodes in the cluster at each, We'd love to save time if at all possible, so any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
