Hello everyone What is important to be aware of migrating Windows VM from ESXi to AHV?Is the version of AOS important? Anything else? Please help me.

I tried to install Prism Central, the task named "download and deploy prism central" is now 100% since three days and i cannot stop it through PRISM interface. I have seen that ncli has a "task" command, but looks like not useful. I have been trying to find the task with "progress-monitor" command, but it shows nothing related to prism central. How can I stop it? Or at least clean the task to proceed with a new installation?

Hey Guys, I have a question: Let's say a customer needs to deploy some Oracle databases. As wel all know, licensing is expensive.. In this scenario they have a 11 node cluster. Would it be possible to have 2 nodes run on AHV with oracle whilst the remaining 9 nodes run on ESXI?(They only need 2 nodes hence they don't want to use a third node & create another cluster + They would like to benefit from erase coding.) This would cut the Oracle costs by a huge amount. Or are there any other solutions for this? Thanks in advance! Sebastiaan

I've SSH'd to my prism central server and I'm trying to run the "authconfig" ncli command but I receive the error "java not installed". Currently running Prism Central v5.1.4. I've run the same ncli command when SSH'd to my CVM's in the cluster without issue. -Matt

Hi, we're starting to look at using Spark on our Nutanix cluster. Not in a huge way but to run some ETL processes in parallel. I'm under pressure to install Hadoop, or at least HDFS on the cluster but the entire concept of adding a distributed, resilient "filesystem" (actually I think it's more an object store) on top of the one already provided by Nutanix seems somewhat off. Is there a recommended way of doing this? I know that containers are exported to ESXi via NFS. Would that be usable? Would that be able to leverage stargate to access from anywhere? All I really need is a globally available volume shared between all my nodes.

Hi all, I have a 13 node AHV cluster (5.1.3 / 20160925.90) where all my VM's (around 70) - status is randomly changing from On (which they are) to unknown. The VM's are running just fine but it seems Prism is unable to get their correct status. Also the CPU usage is constantly reporting exactly 50/100% when they are seen as on - regardless of their actual use - and 0% when off. Have anyone seen this before, or have an idea what could cause it? NCC is not reporting anything of interest so I'm very puzzled.

I have noticed that image (.ISO) uploads to image configuration in Prism fail at 4 Gb. the upload seems to be fine then IE throws the error that IE has crashed. When you re-open Prism, it looks complete, but it's at 4Gb when the actual .ISO was 5,6,7 or bigger. It works fine in Chrome. Is this a known issue? Hi I found the KB below stating you can't virtualize domain controllers on Nutanix Hyper-V. Because Hyper-V wants to contact the AD server before it can power up any VM on Nutanix storage, and the AD server would not be available because the VM cannot be booted." I am of the understanding that this might have been a thing in up until 2008 R2, but this should not be a problem when running Hyper-V on 2012 R2. Anyone that could shed some light on the matter? Would like to call the support line, but that is not an option right now since it has nothing to do with our own nutanix nodes. EDIT: Solved. Found out it is due to the SMB3 share of the nutanix cluster, which requires authentication from the domain.

But after clicking on the download link for ESX, it turns out to download version 4.6 (I think this is an old version). How can I download Prism Central 5.1 or latest version? Hi, While tring to upgrade PC from 5.5 to 5.5.0.2 getting error as "Cannot upgrade PC cluster with non-PC image Failed to find version 5.5.0.2 in proto."

Post depoying Prism Element 5.5 we added Nutanix cluster which are running AOS 5.1.3 & AOS 5.1.2. But while launching element from central it shows error unable to access prism element. running through the big 5.5 upgrade this weekend and I'm running into a currious issue.After installing a fresh copy of prism central 5.5 (we never used it befoer 5.5, but now it's required), I cannot seem to get the ad authentication to work. The connection is configured, and I can still search for and map groups to roles (so I know at least some ofthe AD integration is working), but when it comes time to actually login ... I keep get that I'm using a bad username/password. Release notes mention that everything is UPN based, but that's basically always been the case for my company anyway (we've always logged in using upn).Anyone else run into this?

This one is stumping me. I opened a low priority ticket to get some official info, but i figured i would ask here to see if anyone else has had a similar experience: Background: we received an alert from prism central that one of our cluster's was going to run out of CPU soon. I checked in the hypervisor (esxi) and in prism element and in central under analysis but i could not find an issue. Then, i checked planning and it shows us running out of CPU very soon. At first i thought the initial load up was skewing the data, but when i looked closer, i noticed that the value planning was using for our current usage was at 50Ghz, when the hypervisor is reporting 12Ghz (cluster of 3).I pulled all of the other cluster's planning data and all of them have the same problem, CPU usage is being greatly over reported on the planning chart. Charts under analysis agree with the hypervisor, but these are looking at % usage, not hz. What gives? is there a bug in how planning is calculatin

Hi, I am doing some tests with creating and deleting large files in a sles12 installation on our AHV environment. I use an ext4 filesystem and have enabled the trim/discard feature for the filesystem and lvm. But when i delete a large file with random data (5g size) the storage backend of the cluster does not see that the former used storage is now not longer used. I tried fstrim to initiate the cleanup but that doesn´t work. If I write zeros to the file/partition/filesystem then the backend gets backs the storage. Is trim/discard supported to tell the storage backend that filesystem space is no longer needed or does anybody has experience with such a setup ? Thank you for your help. Regards Hans
