How do I update Prism with no downtime?

How can I license our Prism Central? It's running a Pro Trial license now. I've generated a Generate a cluster summary file, but when I try to upload it in the portal I get the following message: Insufficient licenses available to upgrade from your current license type of Starter. Manual registration results in the same error. We have an appliance Ultimate license for 7 nodes.

Hi, We have a Windows 2012R2 HyperV host with about 8 Windows 2008R2 VMs. These VMs are Gen1 using .vhdx as the file system. I'm currently running Ntnx 4.7.4 and was wondering the following:

Does the image service import .vhdx files or do I need to use qemu-image ?
If I use something like Starwind V2V converter, it supports QCOW2 and RAW, is there a preferred Ntnx format ? (Image inserted below)
Does the SMB version on the CVM have unique specifications ? I was trying to use Storagecraft Shadowprotect Recovery options (Linux based) but it would see the UNC?
Thanks in Advance, G

Hi All, Does anyone know how to get this View on files? Regards Gavin

I have been trying to remove an existing nfs whitelisted machine through Rest API explorer. API: cluster/nfs_whitelist/{name:.+} I have tried giving the path parameter with different combination of IP/sunbnet mask but all were failed with error message: Specified NFS Whitelist does not exist. Here, machine IP is whitelisted as I can see it in Filesystem whitelists but I am not able to figure out the exact representation of path parameter. If anyone knows, then please tell me. Thanks in advance.

Hello, In setting up Nutanix we do not allow it on the Internet. How much does this constrain what we can do with it? ie Life Cycle Management (LCM) Although LCM allows us to point to a different source we will still need to get the Modules somehow? Although LCM lets us start an Inventory it still seems to want to go out and get a Manifest file and then it fails? Can these be downloaded somehow? Where else are we going to find difficulty with? Thank you...

We are designing a Nutainx cluster utilizing a NX-1065-G5 four host block licensed with Prism Pro and Acropolis Ultimate. This will be the production site managing approximately 12 workloads. For the recover site we are looking at building a 3 host Dell cluster. The hypervisor throughout the environment will be AHV. There will be a Cisco metro network solution between these two sites. My question is, what are our options for replication between the two sites? The KB lists solutions for ESXi and Hyper-V, but does not mention AHV configurations. Is this because this is a native solution built into the Prism solution? Thank you for any enlightenment.

Using near sync replication in AOS 5.5 means that normal snapshots on VMs cannot be initiated by external backup tools like comtrade, rubrik This is a bit of a showstopper. If we need an RPO of 15 minutes on AHV, we have to use nearsync - but then we can't backup VMs off the cluster When will Nutanix resolve this rather major downside?

Hi Team, i am new to Nuatnix and i have requested to setup and configure the 2 Nodes Nutanix in our environment and OS will be ESXI .please need your advise by step by step. what are the prerequisites should I need to have. how many IPs i should need to connect from nutanix box to necessary devices Model :NX-6235C-G5 Many thanks in advance Ansar ali

Hi Everyone, I am migrating VMs to AHV from XenServer. The process involves

Copy XenServer VM Disks to Nutanix Datashare on XenServer
Create DISK_IMAGE from the disks copied on Nutanix DataShare
The manual process is to create an image in Nutanix using URL nfs://Nutanix Host IP/SR Name/SR UUID/DISK UUID.vhd I am looking to automate this step using Powershell and Nutanix Cmdlets 'New-NTNXImage' Please help me on how can I create a image (source: URL) using powershell So far I have this,
$URL = "nfs://172.21.92.26/Xen_to_AHV_Migration/f63571ed-3fbf-80ba-f851-31767ad753fc/357527a6-e441-46e9-a680-f05f1af831aa.vhd" New-NTNXImage -Name "xenahvwintst - disk 1" -Annotation "Copied VM xenahvwintst - disk 1" -ImageType DISK_IMAGE -ImageImportSpec $URL
I am not sure on how to include the URL into the command to create NTNXImage

Hello community, it is possible Nutanix remote snapshots to a remote site and additional snapshot to a 3rd remote site? Environment: Small ROBO Cluster ROBO Backup Node (1155S) Central Backup Target Small Robo Cluster > Remote Snapshot to ROBO Backup Node (1155S) > Remote Snapshot to Central Backup target.

Hi Everyone, im just cruious about this scenario, I have 3 server type 2310 with single ssd, So if SSD FAIL on 2 different server at the same time what will happening?

Execute REST calls from a Linux machine rather than using the GUI (Prism) I would like to know if we can execute resp api query inside the curl command to create events such as VM create, delete, etc and get the response to the query I made through curl ? It's would be very helpful for us to help the client to automate the process of creating events/triggers through the Prism manually. Client has the Nutanix Prism and AHV in their network setup and creating these events manually.

Caution: Deletion of the remote site is currently not supported from Prism. Contact Nutanix support for further assistance. Not quite sure if I get this ?

Hi All, Hope you are doing well. I have question regarding the storage usage and space reclaimation in VMWare 6.5 with Nutanix clusters. This question is more into VMware instead of Nutanix, thought of checking here. Just to give a overview we have Nutanix nodes and we have got VMWare 6.x installed on the nodes, a single storage pool and multiple containers. I got a RHEL VM migrated from the old environment and it got 4 disks (10GB, 20 GB, 500GB & 5 GB), all the 4 disks are in the same DS and thin provisioned. No deduplication & compression enabled on those. Now when I access the VMware web console and look for the vmdk files by browsing the files in the DS, I can see a different capacity from the actual usage compared at the server level. When I see the same VM via PRISM and I cannot see the 4 disks assigned to it. It shows only 1 disk with some 160 MB used out of 20 GB and none other than that. Could you please help me to understand why its not showing the disks in the P

I have 8 port 10BaseT 10g switch and I have four nodes with dual 10g and dual 1g. I also have a 1g switch with 50 ports. If I plug all 8 10g nic into the 10g switch I will not have an uplink port. However I still have thx 8 1g nic. So this leaves me with a couple options, and I was curios what best practice would be. A few options I have consider are:

Only use one of the two 10g ports per node.
Configure AHV to use 10g for I/O only and 1g for connecting to the outside world. *not sure if this even doable*
Hi! I have a problem. When I try to create, delete or do a other action I always get the SYS_FAILURE but the Tasks goes through and work perfectly. After that I try to delete the action that was created but there I get again the SYS_FAILURE I work with VMware. There I cant find an error the VMs are created and deleted when I do the specific Action, so it has to be a Calm configuration error. Has anyone experienced this in some way? Thanks for your response!

When will GovCloud be supported for Remote Backup?

Any ideas what or where to fix this alert in Prism Central?

Hi All I am having my first foray into Nutanix using 3 x Dell XC servers and 2 x Dell X4012 switches (stacked), TOR switches are Dell N3024 stacked - I have come from a background of VMware using blades and SANs, so I a little confused on the process for setting up the external networking. What vlans etc do I need on the switches for the Nutanix management, vmotion and storage etc? Is there any best practice documents or has someone completed a similar task and documented the procedures? Any hints, tips or configs gratefully received. Thanks Eric

Hi All I am new to Nutanix and coming from a VMware environment I confused. I have a 3 Dell XC Cluster and I access the whole thing by a cluste IP address which puts me in Prism - the Prism says I have not registered with Prism Central - If only have one cluster do I need Prism Central, what benefit does Central give me? Thanks Eric

HI I can see my Prism Central VM in Prism Web Console but it is not powered on and I get a no entry sign when I try to power it on, however in the CLI I cannot see the VM - where is it , am I in the wrong place and how do I power it on?

Hi All First I run this: allssh manage_ovs --bridge_name br0 --interfaces eth0,eth1 --bond_name bond0 update_uplinks and the expectation I would have Bond0 entry somewhere, however I run the "ovs-appctl bond/show /bond0" command and I get this answer: FIPS mode initialized Nutanix AHV no such bond ovs-appctl: ovs-vswitchd: server returned an error What am I missing?

PROBLEM: When doing VM Migration from XenCenter to AHV, the VM gives a boot disk error at the startup in AHV after migration. Hi,I am trying to move a Windows Server 2012 R2 VM from Xenserver to AHV. With reference to this article: AHV | Migrating a Windows VM from XenServer to AHV everything is working great except when I am at the last step. When I turn on the VM in AHV, I am getting a boot device not found error and windows will not boot up.Windows will start with a windows icon throws the error and restarts, then goes into disk repair, reboots and same error and goes into the troubleshooting menu and when I am restart the VM in AHV it again and always goes into the boot disk inaccessible error.I made sure all the Xen components are already uninstalled from the vm and Nutanix VirtIO drivers are also installed. Tried with loading the image as scsi and IDE, but still going into the same error. Also tried booting up in safe mode, tried disk repair, etc. but no luck. Please help if someone has a solution.PS: I am migrating Windows Server 2012 R2 from XenServer to Nutanix AHV.
