I just created 4 new Server 2012R2 VMs and this morning I see yellow exclamation points on them with the message "VSS snapshot is not supported for the VM 'WinSrv12R2', because VM has IDE disks attached" These were created with 100G SATA drives and a SATA CD-ROM so I cant figure out why I'm seeing this message. I recently had an individual VM whose CPU spiked to between 94-98% for roughly 6 hours. I'd only caught it because the user finally called in and said their VM was slow. In Prism it wasn't showing a warning at all, but I could very clearly see that the CPU was pegged. I wondered if there was any way to set up an email alert for if CPU/RAM at the VM-level has sustained utilization above a certain threshold?

Hi. We have a large grouping of VM's that are not always required to be running and would like to find a way to shutdown these particular VM's on a sunday night. Now anyone know how to find a group of VM's (either via label, project, category etc) and pass a shutdown command. Ideally I would like to do this via PowerShell but I will take anything.

I've written a PoSH script which does the following. [list=1] [*]Authenticates to Prism Central V3 API [*]Calls /category/query API to get a list of VM uuid's that are members of the PROD category. [*]Write this list of uuid's to a string [*]Connect to the NTNX cluster using Nutanix PowerShell cmdlets. [*]Iterate through the above string and execute Set-NTNXVMPowerState against the uuid's. [/list] Steps 1 - 4 work as expected. Step 5 seems to iterate through the list as it should but when I put in the Set-NTNXVMPowerState command to be executed, it throws an access denied error. Once the script gives the error, the powershell connection looks like it locks the account and you cannot execute any commands. If I comment out the foreach loop, and just execute a normal PoSH cmdlet (after the Connect-NTNXCluster) such as Get-NTNXClusterInfo, it works fine. In a Nutanix Cluster, if we have three hypervisors (say VMware / Hyper-V / AHV) if the AHV node is down, can the VMs from AHV node failover to Hyper-V or VMware hypervisors available in the same cluster in commercial edition of Nutanix.

I have a problem with arp requests on the bridge for guest traffic In the drawing below the current architecture. If a request arrives from the outside, passing through the firewall, and the firewall is starting to communicate to a VM connected to a NIC to BR1-UP bond of BR1 bridge, the ARP request for the resolution of the VM address stops at the bridge BR1 and do not reach the VM, in this case the firewall and VM ARP tables remain unpopulated and the communications stop. On the other hand, if the communications depart from the VM to the Firewall (for example with a ping) the ARP request is processed by the firewall and the ARP tables of firewall and VM are correctly populated with the respective MAC ADDRs. Firewall IP and VM IP are in the same broadcast domain, no routing. I checked with Wireshark on the windows VM, with tcpdump and ovs-appctl fdb/show on the Nutanix host and when the communications start from the firewall the ARP request goes up to the physical card of the BR1

I tryed to run xtract but I'm facing a problem to install the VirtIO tools. Using the automatic script on xtract it's end with the error: "ExitCode: '1603'". I've inherited a Nutanix setup. I've noticed there is 1 Storage Pool setup and 4 Storage Containers. (see screenshot).  I don't know what is the Default setup looked like so I don't know which are required. I'd like to have 1 container. Currently attached to Nutanix Host VDI_POC nutanix-peristent-pool Not attached NutanixManagementShare SelfServiceContainer All of my VMs are on the VDI_POC. Can I somehow delete the other 3 and combine them into the VDI_POC without losing data/downtime?  

We have a scenario in which we are running VMware vSphere environment on existing servers and planning to deploy a DR site. Is it possible that we deploy a Nutanix AHV environment at the DR site and replicate from the existing ESXi environment at the Production site to the Nutanix DR site somehow? We are currently using Veeam backup and replication for VMware for backup. What is the possibility of such a requirement?

I have a scenario where I only have the vmUUID available to me and the NGT tools aren't currently installed on a VM so it appears to be limiting what I'm able to do with the API. Is there a way to retrieve a VMs vmID using the vmUUID?

Can anybody confirm if the Extent Store size shown in the Nutanix Sizer tool will be equal to the Container Maximum Capacity that can be used by the VMs for data storage? I am designing a 3-node cluster with following Disks 3 * 960 GB SSD 6 * 4 TB HDD Nutanix Sizer shows Extent Store (Assuming RF2) = 9.63 TiB for HDD and 0.64 TiB for SSD The total shown is 10.27. Will this value be the Maximum Capacity available for the Container to be made out of storage pool? As I have observed the Container Maximum Capacity is exactly half of what the Storage Pool Capacity is shown. What will be the Storage Pool Capacity shown for the above mentioned specs and is this value visible in Nutanix Sizer tool/Storage Capacity Calculator?
