We have a dozen or so VMs/appliances that do not support AHV and thus cannot be migrated over to our new AHV cluster that runs 95% of our servers. We would like to expose a container/Volume Group from Nutanix to the VMware hosts as NFS datastores to build these VMs/Appliances on. Our goal is to then replicate that Container/Volume Group to our DR Nutanix cluster and then connect our DR VMware cluster for the same VMs/Appliances to then use as well incase of failover. We have gotten conflicting information from all parties and wanted to know if anyone was already doing this and what your results are? These VMs/Appliances would have fairly high IO.

How can I migrate one or more server's inside Hyper-V Manager (Everything inside one server) to Nutanix VM Server. What are the steps or tools need to use?

Hi. I am fairly new to scripting especially with Nutanix. I can do Powershell scripting just fine but making the conversion to shell scripts has my brain in a knot. I have some acli commands to create a new vm, create a new Disk and a new NIC but I was unsure how to run them as an executable from my Windows desktop. Our cluster is Nutanix AHV. So I run this from a command line to open putty and connect. How to list Prism Central servers that belongs only to certain project. For example list only those Vm's that belongs to project "default". After having the CVMs down for some cluster maintenance \ VLAN ID changes, everything is back up but after running an NCC check the first check, CVM reboot check, failed. Is this something to be concerned about? What is actually being checked with this?

Dear Friends, I am trying to find out VMs to Storage Container relations using Nutanix REST APIs but not able to get. I have tried both V2.0 and V3 APIs. In 'vms/list' v3 API, we do get "disk_list" for each VM but I do not see these vDisks in 'vdisk' or virtual_disks APIs (v2). Also there is no reference to Storage_Containers in 'vms/list' output so it is difficult for me to find the correlation. Please help.

I'm exploring the API and noticed that for listing operations (specifically the /vms/list operation) supports providing sorting parameters. I can't find any information on the proper values for the sort_attribute key in the request. Has anyone used this and can shed some light for me? Thanks

Hi Guys I am trying move a VM from my ESXi Environment to my AHV ENvironment using Nutanix Move. I am able to add the source, but it doesnt pick up any VMs and when i run a refresh i get the following error: Failed to get inventory for source(ESXi Name). Please assist

I have lots of Protection Domains. I need to keep their schedules straight, prevent overlap, and report the schedules to management. I am not the only admin, so I cannot track the configuration manually. Is there a powershell cmdlet that presents this information? I cannot find it. I want to know the schedule and the replication information(sites and how many to retain). I'm not using protection policies, just old school PD. Thanks, Bill Beavis

Trying to migrate two Windows VMs with Move 3.2 from ESXi to AHV. in the VM Preparation section after adding the credentials "migration rediness" is Pending and the error message shows "2 VMs are not ready for migration." What would cause the VMs not to be ready for migration? the VMs have in production for several months.

Hi there, Does Nutanix provide a simulator on sandbox/hosted version of Prism? We want to fetch few monitoring parameters/operational health data into our own tool using Prism APIs. Our CVMs are locked down tight, I have no intention of allowing any internet access to PE, all support actions must be done through a webex session where our admin grants control to the support tech. but I have PC set up for NAT so it can communicate outside our private network. my question is, will pulse work strictly through PC or does PE need to be set up for it? Everything i see documented is about PE talking to insights.nutanix.com.

I am a huge VS Code user, all I do is run my scripts/codes for local/remote/cloud products within VS Code. So I am now trying to get it so I can compile and run Nutanix Cmdlets within VS Code. I am trying to find the neatest, safest and most maintainable way possible without putting at risk the core of PowerShell. I've only found one post where someone has mentioned doing this and it was by installing the Nutanix Cmdlets and copying the contents of the module's folder into "C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\Modules". Maybe possible but there are over 200 items that would need copying into the root of this folder, seems messy to me. Can a sub folder called Nutanix be created for the contents to be copied too? Is there a better way to achieving what I feel be a great tool for all? Advice/support much appreciated :nerd:

I have deleted several shares on the Nutanix File Server we have running in VMware and the free space does not seem to be recovering even after a week. Is there a command i can run in ACLI or NCLI to force the clean up to take place? Or is there a better way to remove the shares other the through the Prism UI?
