Hello, Just wondering if there is anything special about running CVM commands via ansible or other non-interactive session tools? The ansible ping module works just fine but when I start using Nutanix specific commands i get errors telling me that "no such file exists." The commands i'm running are "cluster status" and "ncli rsyslog-config get-status" These obviously work in a regular interactive session but not with ansible. Am i missing a path variable declaration or something? Are the commands only available via interactive sessions(if that is even a thing)? Thanks Update: a coworker who is better at linux than I am said that the profile probably isn't loaded the same so I need to fully source all the commands. So right now I'm doing my best to find them and running them that way. So far so good. /home/nutanix/cluster/bin/cluster status

I have a bunch of VM (>300) converted from vmware, and I have to classify them with categories and projects. I tried in powershell with the rest API, but when I GET the VM characteristics and use ConvertTo-Json to build new json file, it does not "expand" embedded arrays like disk_list, nic_list... so cannot send the PUT request correctly Does someone have an example to set/update categories and project for a VM ?

I have Acronis 12.5 Backup installed on a Windows Server 2019 Essentials 64 bits (that's installed bare-metal on a Lenovo SystemX 3650 M5). Attached to it, there's an IBM TS4300. I'm trying to figure how to backup the VMs running on my AOS 5.10.1 in the tape drivers inside the TS4300. I know I can install Acronis Agents on my Windows VMs, but I don't know if that's the answer for my question. And, if a disaster happens and I need to restore the Acropolis VMs from the tapes, how can I do it? Sorry if my questions seem too basic, but I'm googling for the desired infos all day long with no success up to now, so I'm asking for help here. Best regards,

I wanted to clarify if Xtract is just for converting from ESXi / Hyper-V /AWS to AHV or if ESXi to ESXi conversions are suppported with Xtract 2.0 / Move 3.0. We have about 100 VMs we'd like to move from one ESXi cluster to another ESXi cluster and I know we could use VM Converter or cross cluster vMotions (where supported) but wanted to see if the native Nutanix tools are also an option for this type of migration. I had thought it was mainly for migrations to AHV, has that changed?

We have a couple production SQL servers on our ESXi Cluster that need be transitioned to our new Nutanix Cluster. Nutanix Best Practices indicates that the SQL servers should be created new on the Nutanix Cluster instead of doing a VM move from ESXi to AHV. I am aware that Nutanix had Xtract Db for awhile that was supposed to make moving a SQL instance possible but they have since discontinued the product. I must assume they had issues with it. My question is what are the technical implications of using Nutanix Move to "move" the SQL VM from ESXi to AHV? I have used the tool to move a number of non-SQL VMs without any issues. Knowing that the underlying Hyper-visor components are changing and the VirtIO drivers must be installed before the move and then NGT installed after the move, what might the issue be that discourages or prevents a SQL VM cross-hyper-visor move? How we take backup of VM, What are the diffrent ways for that out side of the cluster.

Hello everybody, let's assume we have one Nutanix block with 3 nodes. In each node we only have 1 CPU socket with 10 Cores. A VM can only run on one node. So, in this case, wouldn't it make more sense to let a VM with 4 CPUs run on 1 VCPU and 4 Cores, instead of 4 VCPUs with 1 core, as each node has only 1 CPU socket? Or does Nutanix always recommend to use only 1 Core per VCPU not matter how much CPU sockets are available in a node? Best regards, Didi7

Hi all, I have a production ESX cluster and an AHV cluster (currently Dev but will be live soon) and I want to move a couple of hosts out of the ESX cluster and then expand the AHV cluster. I want to make sure I have the correct process and do not miss anything but couldn't find this specifically documented anywhere. Has anyone done this already? current plan is - - Cluster checks. - maintenance mode esx host to move all VMs off. - shutdown CVM and allow maintenance mode to complete. - remove VMhost from the prod vmware cluster in vSphere. - remove from Nutanix cluster using the option in Prism. - wait for Nutanix to remove the node. - Expand the AHV cluster adding the released ESX host. Hello, I want to migrate vm from vmware vsphere 6.7 to AHV. When i create source and target i find that connections to vcenter and ahv are ok. But, number discovered vm's on vsphere is 0 and "create a migration plan" button is greyed out. What is a problem? xtract 2.0.2. Regards, Mindaugas

Hi everyone, I tried to setup lab for migrade UVM from ESXi 6.5 to AHV 5.10 using Xtract VM. After data seeding completed I select to cutover VM. However, migration was failed with error "Failed to create VM snapshot 'XTRACT-VMSnap-31'. Error: Snapshot hierarchy is too deep.." So, I've checked in snapshot manager and found many snapshot was create by Xtract tools. Does anyone face this issue before? How did you solve this problem? Thank you. Hello, We want to manage multi-tennancy using Nutanix. We have different clients and we want to give visibility them only to manage their VMs. When a client access to prism console, he only will be able to check his VMs and resources, create new machine on his side...not resources and VMs from the B client for example. Is this possible using the last version (5.10.2)? We have seen on last version Nutanix has launched Self Service Portal? Could it be helpful to achieve this requirement? Thanks in advance. Regards,

Hi there, I'm trying to use X-RAY for our purpose and I faced an error without more logs/messages than: "A timeout occurred waiting for VM(s) in VM Group 'Cluster Check' to become responsive within 120 seconds." I configured both vNIC of the X-RAY VM: [list=1] [*]eth0: for communication with the API [*]eth1: for communication with VMs workload [/list] eth1 is configured with a specific subnet (I didn't find too much documentation for zero configuration). On my Nutanix cluster, I added this specific network and let it to give addresses to VMs deployed by X-RAY (98 IPs available in this subnet) During the cluster check, 4 VMs are deployed, powered up and IPs are assigned. The X-RAY VM can communicate with these 4 VMs. The problem is for the last one, the 5th VM doesn't start and the cluster check fail. Hello Experts, I am new to Nutanix world and in middle of acquiring basic knowledge. In Prism console under software upgrade, i can see that there are components like AOS , Foundation and Hypervisor. My understanding is that the Acropolis ( AOS ) software is installed in CVM and CVM is called as Foundation. Hypervisor is either AHV or Vmware or HyperV. Is my understanding is correct ?
