Hello Experts, I am new to Nutanix world and in middle of acquiring basic knowledge. In Prism console under software upgrade, i can see that there are components like AOS , Foundation and Hypervisor. My understanding is that the Acropolis ( AOS ) software is installed in CVM and CVM is called as Foundation. Hypervisor is either AHV or Vmware or HyperV. Is my understanding is correct ? Please clarrify Thanks Sam.

We are preparing to migrate about 350TB of data from our existing 3-tier architecture to a Nutanix hybrid solution. Our storage pool is 480TB in size with about 25% SSD before storage efficiency kicks in. We have post-compression turned on as well as cache deduplication. We are going to attempt to migrate 50-100 VM's per night, and we are afraid that we will overrun our SSD tier eventually. Is there a way for me to run a data tiering job, or force the data to destage lower, daily after the migrations are done so that it doesn't impact our future migrations? Thanks in advance

We are planning a major migration from existing 3-tier ESXi over to Nutanix/ESXi (AHV to come later). Due to time constraints in our move, we are trying to optimize how many VM's can migrate at one time. VMware has a few well-known limits on their operations: vMotion operations per host (10Gb/s network) - 8 vMotion operations per datastore - 128 Storage vMotion operations per host - 2 Storage vMotion operations per datastore - 8 If I take a "one storage container to rule them all" approach, I will be limited to 8 migrations at once, as long as I spread out my migrations to 4 hosts. My target will be a 14 node cluster, so I would like to push up to 28 operations, if at all possible. Would it be considered a best-practice to carve out 4 storage containers, knowing I'm still in the same pool, and fan out the migrations to get around these limits? Hello - I'm new to Nutanix and am in the middle of taking the online 5.5 course in the education portal. I have a simple question about Cloud connect: In the section about Cloud Connect features the very first thing you read is "data transmitted is already deduplicated and users can choose to enable compression on the local storage container.." Yet when I look at the section regarding General Recommendations and Limitations I see the following: "It is not recommended to enable deduplication on the source cluster..." Can you please help me understand this? This looks like a complete contradiction.

Has anyone experienced the X-Ray tests going to 0% but staying 'open'? For the last few days our X-Ray tests have been running to completion but not finishing. As a result the additional tests do not get run. The curie log indicates "exiting _cluster_results_loop" but the tests hang open at 0% and they have to be cancelled.

I used an older version of Move back in September to migrate out ESXi VMs to AHV, and now with the GA release of Hyper-V with v3.0.2 I figured I'd give that a go. I just deployed 3.0.2 and attempted to add my Hyper-V box and it connects, however, it's not inventorying any VMs. I have 6 running VMs on this box so I'm not sure what the issue is. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

We attempted to migrate our ODNS as well as setup new VM's in AHV by extracting the vmdk's but each time we get the below screen on boot. Has anyone else successfully got the ODNS VA to run in AHV? I am looking for a solution to change the web GUI password of the user nutanix in Xtract 2.0.3. In the doc I only see how to change it during the first login. I have already opened a ticket with support. But there I was told to redeploy the Xtract VM to change the password. This is not really a solution for me to spend all the time again to have all configured just to have another password. Can someone help me with that?

If we use the ESXi/Hyper-v as the Hypervisor, does the Satadom will be formatted(Removing AHV) and then install ESXi? What happens to CVM in this case? Any manual operation is required?

Hi all. I have read the document about the different failure scenarios. For me it is still not clear, what really happens, if the data resiliency status is still critical and another node fails. In the doc I read this: With two sets of physical disks that are inaccessible, there would be a chance that some VM data extents are missing completely. In our starting time when using Nutanix (version 3.x) I remember our Nutanix partner was telling me, in such a case the cluster stops to make sure data keeps consistent. Do I have some UVMs that are not working any more correctly or is cluster stopping and all UVMs are stopped? Thank you very much. Kind regards, Stefan

Customer has large Nutanix environment across globe and would like to upgrade prism central to 5.10.2, but the download link is not available in the portal. Dear contributors, We have purchased Nutanix appliances and I am working as part of the IT Security team. We have enforced the security settings on CVM and AHV (STIG, banner, ...) and, as part of our duties, we carry out regular checks to make sure that the security settings have not been altered. For this, we would like to have nominative accounts which are able to connect through SSH and be able to check on the settings of the components. Is it possible to do? If yes, how can we proceed?
