Solved

Hi Friends, It's nice joining you in this wonderful community. I'm Ridwan Oladipupo from Algorism Limited, Nigeria. I'm representing my company as a System Engineer saddled with the responsibility of handling the technicalities of Nutanix during POC. Please I'm absolutely new to the system, I've started with nutanix school, but I felt that is not sufficient enough to get the Job done. I need to get with the guys doing the job. I would be glad if anyone can volunteer to mentor me on this solution. Thanks in anticipation.

Hi, I want to automate the procedure of node imaging. I have exported the configuration file for foundation. Is there command line to image node with configuration file?

Hey guys,I don't have Nutanix and I want to practice on Nutanix - is there virtual image I can use for practice?

There appears to be an issue with the latest Powershell Cmdlets for Version 5.11 that reports itself as Version 5.1.1 (not 5.11) so there is a mismatch. This will bring up a Warning dialogue box asking you if you want to continue with this mismatch (Cluster Version 5.11 and CmdLets Version 5.1.1). This can affect any Powershell Automation Scripts you have running that will be waiting for user intervention! You can change the Nutanix Connection method to Force the Connection using the following syntax: Connect-NTNXCluster -Server "Your server here" -UserName "Your user" -Password "Your password" -AcceptInvalidSSLCerts -ForcedConnection Note: It is the ForcedConnection that enables the bypass of the mismatch for your scripts. Hopefully they will update the Version with the next iteration of the Cmdlets without the apparent typo of 5.1.1 instead of 5.11. Please feel free to "Like" to mark as "Best Answer" Kind Regards Andy andymlloyd

Hello, I've been looking relatively hard for a comprised list of STS and LTS release dates and a indexed link to the readme's for those releases and perhaps the CVE's addressed in those patches. Seems like it would be easy to find but I'm struggling.

Hello, I will need to power off a "Metro Standby Site", which has VMs running on it. I would like to manually migrate those VMs to the primary (active) site and Shut down / Power Off the nodes in the Standby site approx. 24-36 hours. All VMs need to be running on the active side and no VMs are to be restarted (RTO + RPO =0). The steps I propose to take to achieve the goal are as follows: I have included as much environment info as possible. Any insight or corrections to this process are welcome. Thanks in Advance Phase I (Configure Standby Site)

Disable/suspend the (x1) asynch PD (from Primary)
Update VMware DRS Rules (Manual) (from Primary)
Disable HA
Manually perform vMotion of all VMs to active site.
Configured VM affinities to the hosts of the primary site and set the DRS rules to Fully Automated.
Create new VMGroup and Host Group if needed
I do not want to disable DRS and lose my DRS Affinity Rules
Disable Metro per PD (x3) (from

Can you use a FC card in one node of a Nutanix cluster to do a storage Vmotion / migration to the New esxi Hosts in the cluster ? FC card will present the current VMFS partition to the new esxi host running in the cluster .Then storage vmotion the vm's across to the new storage( NFS partition in the nutanix cluster ) Is this possible ? Prefered option as NFS would only be on a 1 gig network and we need to do this quickly Any input will be appreciated ?

Hello, Where from i can download prism central ova (for vmware)? I used several links, but always i am redirected to support portal. But i have community account only... Regards Mindaugas

Could we get some more documentation on this command?Clone-NTNXVirtualMachineOne of the required parameters is -SpecListI would like some clarification on this parameter and how to use it. Is this an array of values? Am I linking to a csv or json file?An example would be nice.Using the UI, I currently clone a reference image to create vm’s and I would love to get a PS script to work to do the same. I can get it to work with the ACLI commands but PS is a bit more versatile and I believe I could get it to do more if I understood this command and specifically this parameter better.

Good Morning:We are in the process of deploying new NX-8235-G7 nodes that are connected to a pair of Cisco Nexus switch. Everything seems to be working well, with the exception of the switch occasionally receiving RX Pause frames from the servers. While this may not necessarily be a problem, I am doing my due dilligence. The switch ports the nodes are connected to are configured as follows:Connected as active/standby NICs Connected via 1 meter 10GE DAC cables 802.1Q trunk Speed/duplex auto-negotiation Flow control auto-negotiationThe nodes themselves are configured with the default network configuration that comes from the factory with the exception of anything that is necessary to support the use of ESXi and our network environment.Any suggestions or validations of how the switch ports should be configured? Thanks!

AOS is in 5.10.8, We need to install NGT on Windows Server 2016 with only VSS feature enabled and not SSR. However, after installation, even though the SSR feature is not enabled, there is the SSR icon on the desktop. It can be opened and bring us to “http://localhost:5000”. I can understand that the feature is not active but I would like to avoid having it displayed on the desktop. How to avoid to have this on the desktop ? (I’m looking for another way than deleting the icon manually after NGT installation). What about this local web server ? Could it be stopped ?

I have had a vm fail and now I need access to its storage drive, is there a way to mount its storage drive to a new vm or browse and recover data?

Hi I’m trying to find out if anyone has tried or is running SAS Grid on Nutanix? We have a SAS consultant working with us but they have no experience of running SAS on a Nutanix cluster. Any information would be gratefully received :D

Hello all,05 months ago, I faced from some difficulties to perform P2V to AHV for UeFi servers : I performed P2V using VMware Converter to migrate to an ESXi server; and after I used “move” to migrate to AHV. While booting the VM, I saw a black screen and nothing else appeared on the screen. As I said above, it happened 05 months ago; At this time, Nutanix did not support migration of Uefi servers yet.Since the release of AOS5.11 and Move 3.3, Nutanix supports the migration of Uefi servers (As explained in the release notes). So I migrated AOS to the latest version (5.11.1) and used Move 3.3.1 to perform migrations of 03 servers that use Uefi.In spite of that, the VMs displays nothing while booting...even if I wait for several minutes, I get nothing. In PRISM, I switched the boot mode to BIOS and after to Uefi, but I got the same results. In vCenter, I switched the boot mode to BIOS before performing migration. After Migration (using Move 3.3.1), the results are the same. Could you help me

Hi, I'm trying to install a 3-node Lenovo HX3321 but I got this issue: Every node gets the following log: It keeps waiting for md arrays to resync but it no longer continues the process and fails. I'm trying to install AOS 5.10.6 and foundation 4.4.1 Do you have any idea how I could fix this issue? Regards,

We are looking to setup a Nutanix File Server on our ESX cluster, this file server will be housing 21TB of data. I know that we get 1TB for free, how to enable the licensing for the other 20TB as i believe it is per TB.

Hi, can someone be kind enough to explain what is Downstroking? this effects my SSD config. It happened when I had configured 1x 1.92TB SSD and changed to 2x 960GB SSD (can’t), and forced me to configure to 2x 1.92TB SSD instead. TIA.

When I pull the VM details using powershell, the Guest OS for all of my VM is empty. I am using the correct syntax '$vm.guestOperatingSystem' to pull the information. All the other information like VMName, Container, PowerState, NetworkAdapters, etc... are coming except Guest OS and Description of VM. Even if I create a new Windows Server 2012 R2 VM, the Guest OS field shows nothing for new VM as well. I have 47 VMs currently on a Nutanix host but the Guest OS information is empty for all of them. Please let me know if anyone else is having this issue and how to resolve it. Details: ---------------------- Hypervisor: AHV

Hi all, I am working on a DevOps platform for a client and considering recommending Calm to automate the provision of TeamCity builds if the build queue meets a condition (i.e. if 15 builds in queue then spin up 5 build agents and add them to the pool). Has anyone done this with Calm ?

Hey guys,I have uploaded some of ISO and disk image files including VirtIO to container via Prism Central and they all are marked as ACTIVE means that the upload process has completed successfully. But when I looked into the container to find the uploaded files via command line or WinSCP, all of them are being kept in container except for VirtIO iso file. Do you know how I can find it? Thanks and Regards.

Hello,We plan to move some nutanix cluster to a new location and we already know that it will not be possible to keep the network vlan and IP setup for the installation. We found the document on how to change the CVM IP and you first advice is to keep the initial network if possible. So we should understood what are the argument pro and against regarding the IP reconfiguration process, can we have some performance issue? In some case we want to keep the data on the cluster and other don't take care of them. So what are the best choice to manage this different move. And if some of yours have already perform this kind of operation, could you share your feedback or advice on that. Thanks for your answers.Regards.David ALEXANDRE.
