We have been running our Horizon View environment on Nutanix a little over 6 months, and I'm ready to do my first round of disk/BIOS, etc firmware updates. My main concern, is since we are utilizing Horizon View instant clones, there is a powered on "parent image" on each host...We are running View 7.5, and I know in previous versions, there was an attribute called "Instant Clone maintenance" that you changed the value to a 1, and it would shut down and delete that parent image, disallowing any desktops from being provisioned on that host allowing you to place it in maint mode, and do your business. I need some clarity (and a sanity check!) on how to allow (or if I don't use LCM) to perform these necessary firmware updates without bringing my View environment down...This environment is used 24x7 and cannot withstand an outage..Please show me your wheel, so I have no need to re-invent!! Good dayI have a few questions regarding PVs on Karbon Clusters.Is there a way to access Persistent Volumes created by Kubernetes besides getting to it from within the pod the volume is mounted? If the PV has status Released, can I still be able to access it without having to bind it again?Basically, I want to know if the data on Karbon PVs can be accessed via ssh, or something else other than K8s pods. If backups are saved on a PV, can I access the data from another VM besides the cluster worker nodes?

We have a dozen or so VMs/appliances that do not support AHV and thus cannot be migrated over to our new AHV cluster that runs 95% of our servers. We would like to expose a container/Volume Group from Nutanix to the VMware hosts as NFS datastores to build these VMs/Appliances on. Our goal is to then replicate that Container/Volume Group to our DR Nutanix cluster and then connect our DR VMware cluster for the same VMs/Appliances to then use as well incase of failover. We have gotten conflicting information from all parties and wanted to know if anyone was already doing this and what your results are? These VMs/Appliances would have fairly high IO.

Hi. I am fairly new to scripting especially with Nutanix. I can do Powershell scripting just fine but making the conversion to shell scripts has my brain in a knot. I have some acli commands to create a new vm, create a new Disk and a new NIC but I was unsure how to run them as an executable from my Windows desktop. Our cluster is Nutanix AHV. So I run this from a command line to open putty and connect. After having the CVMs down for some cluster maintenance \ VLAN ID changes, everything is back up but after running an NCC check the first check, CVM reboot check, failed. Is this something to be concerned about? What is actually being checked with this?

Dear Friends, I am trying to find out VMs to Storage Container relations using Nutanix REST APIs but not able to get. I have tried both V2.0 and V3 APIs. In 'vms/list' v3 API, we do get "disk_list" for each VM but I do not see these vDisks in 'vdisk' or virtual_disks APIs (v2). Also there is no reference to Storage_Containers in 'vms/list' output so it is difficult for me to find the correlation. Please help.

I've played with docker and kubernetes on my Windows machine but having a brain freeze transitioning to the karbon cluster. How do I get kubectl to use my configure file I downloaded from Karbon? I'm exploring the API and noticed that for listing operations (specifically the /vms/list operation) supports providing sorting parameters. I can't find any information on the proper values for the sort_attribute key in the request. Has anyone used this and can shed some light for me? Thanks

I'm trying to configure a new Kubernetes cluster using Karbon. When I get to the stage of configuring the storage class, I'm prompted for a user name and password. I'm not sure which user I should be entering here, as the few I've tried don't seem to work. The cluster setup tutorial video shows the username `admin`, which seems to suggest using a very highly privileged user, which seems unnecessary to me. How can I create a user with the minimum privileges necessary for the storage class?

I have lots of Protection Domains. I need to keep their schedules straight, prevent overlap, and report the schedules to management. I am not the only admin, so I cannot track the configuration manually. Is there a powershell cmdlet that presents this information? I cannot find it. I want to know the schedule and the replication information(sites and how many to retain). I'm not using protection policies, just old school PD. Thanks, Bill Beavis

I'm testing Karbon. I'm very basic level. I can't make it through the karbon configure testing, so I'll ask you for help. I've upgraded Karbon to the latest version through LCM. After that, I set it up through "Create Kubernets Cluster." That's the problem from here. In the end, an error occurs in the "Deployment Failed" status section. Deploying 8% has an error. I looked up various information. I looked it up, and I think you should setting Proxy http and ERCD. How can setting? Please explain in detail the reason why Karbon can't be distributed. Thank you.

Trying to migrate two Windows VMs with Move 3.2 from ESXi to AHV. in the VM Preparation section after adding the credentials "migration rediness" is Pending and the error message shows "2 VMs are not ready for migration." What would cause the VMs not to be ready for migration? the VMs have in production for several months.

Hi there, Does Nutanix provide a simulator on sandbox/hosted version of Prism? We want to fetch few monitoring parameters/operational health data into our own tool using Prism APIs. However, we currently don't have Nutanix gear in our lab, so wondering, if we can get simulator or sandbox access. Thanks
