can we replace an existing node with a better hardware,  that is with the latest processor?

AOS upgrade appears to go well, but my CE three node cluster didn’t complete the first AHV upgrade. Now CVM is off line.  I’m looking a logs but not sure what to look for.  /var/log [root@NTNX-04524900-A log]# cat ahv-host-agent.log 2020-01-30 19:02:44,734 host_agent_.py:34 INFO Starting host agent 2020-01-30 19:02:44,734 host_agent_.py:67 INFO Generating /var/lib/ahv-host-agent/schema//api.json 2020-01-30 19:02:44,818 host_agent_.py:92 INFO Connecting to libvirt 2020-01-30 19:02:44,819 task_store.py:354 INFO Started task garbage collector 2020-01-30 19:02:44,821 host_agent_.py:98 INFO Connected to libvirt 2020-01-30 19:02:44,821 manager.py:50 INFO Starting CollectorManager 2020-01-30 19:02:44,825 manager.py:50 INFO Starting pid monitor OvsVSwitchdMonitor 2020-01-30 19:02:44,825 manager.py:110 INFO EventManager thread is listening on 127.0.0.1:2031 2020-01-30 19:02:44,825 process_monitor.py:99 INFO Starting ovs-vswitchd process monitoring ... 2020-01-30 19:02:44,872 server.py:56 INFO S

Hi AllAfter upgrading the NCC version, I get this message CVM was renamed after installation - I haven't changed it!  The recommendation is bizarre - Rename CVM back to its original name.  CVM name is noncofigurable by the end user.So if it is non configurable , what changed it and how do I get it changed back ?  Or is it just having an identity crisis? Is there a fix?

Hi, Anyone know the highest supported ESXi version we can upgrade to on the Dell XC630-10?

Hello, I’m trying to configure two AHV clusters (3 nodes) for replication. Both environments are running AOS 5.11.2 on HPE DX360 Gen10.   The network environment is spread between two stacks: one stack dedicated to the storage with 10Gb interfaces and one stack for the LAN with 1Gb interfaces. There is no connection between these two networks. After the deployment of the nodes and the configuration of the clusters, I start to configure the Backplane Network with the following parameter: Subnet: 172.16.250.0 Netmask: 255.255.255.0 VLAN: 202 Host node: br1 The backplane network of the first cluster works without any problem. When I do the same (with the same) for the second cluster, it fails. It says that the IPs addresses are already in use.  I would like to specify a VLAN/subnet where both clusters have their backplane IPs so I can use the backplane network for the replication between both clusters.   I hope this is clear.   Kind regards,   Fred

Trying the veeam AHV appliance, i had a crash whilst taking a backup now am left with orphaned snapshots on a PAID ACCOUNT, and nutanix sends the ball to veeam back to nutanix, so here i am Protection Domain DP-QC-3 has 3 aged third-party backup snapshot(s) and may unnecessarily consume storage space in the cluster. i have a multitude of these and want to manually remove those snapshots, is there a process for this ?

I have a cluster running on an NX-3060-G5 with XenServer hypervisor that I want to completely rebuild on Acropolis. I’m looking for documentation on how to do this. Our original cluster was built by a Nutanix engineer onsite and I recall he had to install the foundation software on another machine, but I don’t recall all of the steps he took. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Can we have a document on Ncli

I'm will be configuring Network Segmentation on my Nutanix Cluster as per these instructions. https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/docs/details?targetId=Web-Console-Guide-Prism-v510:wc-network-segment-on-existing-cluster-wc-t.html The VLAN that I put my backplane traffic on, does it matter or not if I have a Gateway for that VLAN? I would use 172.16.10.0 as the Subnet IP and 255.255.255.0 as the Netmask. I am planning on having a Gateway of 172.16.10.1 on the firewall. Currently, the default configuration without network segmentation, the management and backplane traffic on eth0 has a gateway so as far as I can tell, everything should still work if I have a gateway for backplane traffic. Could someone please confirm that it doesn’t matter if I have a gateway on the backplane VLAN or not?

Dear All Is there any limitation for Nutanix to hold more than 64TB storage in a single node ? Pls send me the refference link

We are thinking of adding two compute only nodes to our cluster for Oracle.  What are the hardware requirements for running CO nodes?  Does the cluster the CO’s are joined to have to be all flash or do you have to “pin” the VM’s running on the CO to All Flash in the HC storage.   We currently have 4 HC nodes running a mix of SSD and HDD.

Is it necessary to have 2 vlans when deploying nutanix or can I deploy nutanix with one vlan?

I am trying to add Hyper-V host to Move to migrate the VMs.   But after adding the host, VM inventory are not loading(Shows 0 VMs) . The cluster is up and running and we are getting error “Disk 'root' space usage high on host” Can /home/install/phx_iso be deleted?

Hi, I am new here and this is my firts experience with Nutanix. I need to deploy 3 nodes, and I’ m going to use the native Hypervisor from Nutanix (AHV). I saw a video explainning that,  to do it, it’s necessary to download and use the Foundation Tools to configure the cluster and than, gathering access to PRISM. Unfortunally, I can’t download Foundation, due to the Nutanix blocks were registered by our customer (message: ...The email XXXXXXX is not authorized for the account associated with the serial number YYYYYYY) and we don’t know who did it. We are trying to identify who registered the blocks but, meanwhile, Is there another way to deploy it without the Foundation tool, or is there a way to unregister the blocks and register again but to different user account?   Thanks in advance,

Hello all,   Hope you’re all doing great. Kindly if you can guide me where to start with Nutanix as I don’t know anything and willing to know everything related .. so I am a VMware guy who is willing to understand the NU platform and I hope I am writing the right post in the right place      Thanks in Advance, Cheers.

I completed an AOS upgrade from 5.5.2.2 to 5.10.8 on two different clusters.  On one cluster I have the health page showing a warning symbol (no data) and the message: “An error has occurred. Show me why” When I role over “Show me why” I see the message “java.lang.NullPointerException”.  I have a ticket open with Nutanix but haven’t received any solutions that have worked yet. Appreciate help if someone knows how to resolve.

Hi, We have a NX-3060-G4 with 3 VMware hosts on that is currently connected to our Cisco core switch cluster using 10GB twinax cables. A long story short, I need to remove these and connect the NTX to a single 1GB Cisco switch (WS-C3850-12S-S). My question is: can I connect a 1GB SFP link between the NTX and new core switch using the 10GB NTX ethernet port? If so, will the NTX detect that the cable connected can only run at 1GB?   Thanks in advance.

Hello, I'm trying to create a File Server. I did this in Prism Element cluster. I have a problem when I had to select the Client Network PortGroup All my dvportgroup are not visible. I can only see the dvportgroup attached to a dvswitch with uplinks assigned. In my vCenter we have a dvswitch with no uplinks assigned. This dvswitch is used by my network sdn solution which transport the client network. Do you see a solution ? thanks

Stuck with this error. Please help out.

In scripts we use for some ESXi hypervisor configurations we utilize “allssh”.  The problem I’m running in to, though, is I must run each allssh command individually rather than using a script to run multiple allssh commands.  The first line will kick off and before it has a chance to complete the second will kick off.  For example, here’s where we configure DNS on the hypervisor through a CVM: allssh ssh root@192.168.5.1 esxcli network ip dns server add --server=10.1.1.1 allssh ssh root@192.168.5.1 esxcli network ip dns server remove --server=8.8.8.8 allssh ssh root@192.168.5.1 esxcli network ip dns server add --server=10.1.1.2 The first will kick off then the second goes prior to the first completing.  The script then gets confused and stops while still connected to one of the ESXi hosts.  Does anyone know of a way to initiate subsequent allssh commands only after the prior one running has completed?  Although not very clean, should I put a sleep command in between each?

Hello everbody, is it correct that the standby containers (Metro Availability) are also mounted to their local hosts in Prism? Thanks for your support! Kind regards,

Someone who can support me, was doing the idrac update (Hyper-V hypervisor) and failed, but now the node is out and can not lift the services, I try to restart it from the console and I get the error message:2019-12-11 14:04:41 INFO zookeeper_session.py:131 cvm_shutdown is attempting to connect to Zookeeper 2019-12-11 14:04:41 WARNING lcm_genesis.py:219 Failed to reach a [localhost] where LCM [LcmFramework.is_lcm_operation_in_progress] is up. We are on 5.10. I want to leverage the API(s) to remove disks from a VM, and then add new disks to a VM (using images as the sources). Which API should I use? v3 has "Update a existing VM" (sic) but I am unclear about how to (a) remove scsi:1 and scsi:2 and (b) add new disks (using images). The v2 API has "Detach disks" functionality. If I detach a disk does it get deleted? If not how do I delete it after detaching? "Attach disks" is also available in v2 but I don't see a way to use an image as the source (which I can do using ACLI). Thanks in advance for your responses.
