We have had a couple of instances recently when making network changes that have affected our clusters. This caused a restart on the lead host due to it detecting a network loss and  then resulted in system outages. The cluster is configured with dual networks ports in active and passive mode and the understanding was that it would switch if any change or failure was detecetd without producing error events and systems down.

Hi all, A network security audit on a customer infrastructure reported a vulnerability on the cerebro http (port 2020) who is open on http in every CVM and without any security prompt.Some sensitives informations are visible : - AOS version : el7.3-release-euphrates-5.10.7-stable-... - VM Names  - Protection Domain names  - Witness ip address   - ...  Is there’s a way to secure this component ?

Hi All, Assume one cluster, all the same model. Can anyone confirm whether downloading the updates from the software upgrades option in prism for a cluster downloads the updates individually for each node? Or does it download it once and distributes the updates among the nodes. Our networking guy reckons he’s seeing the updates get downloaded 4x times for our 4 node cluster. I couldn’t find any documentation to confirm so I thought I’d ask the community. Cheers guys…

I am trying to implement SLB, or LACP, rather than A-B. To do this seems to require using either the manage_ovs show_bridges or list port {br0 | bond0} command. Other then the Command_Ref-AOS and AHV_Admin-Guid, where can more information be found ? I am getting a `ERROR kvm.py:488 failed to execute ....` error.

Hi, I'm already consuming API V3.0 to retrieve data from Nutanix Element. But i',m not figure how can i get usage stats info (CPU, RAM, DISK) from hosts or VMs. There's a way to do that on V3 or i need to call v2 or v1?

I just had a security scan done against my cluster running AOS 5.5.6 and the only 'high' risk that came back was with cve-id CVE-1999-0548 (NFS Server Without Shares Detected): [b]Description;[/b] A superfluous NFS server that is not sharing any file systems has been detected. [b]How to Fix;[/b] Disable the NFS server. Obliviously, I don't think I want to disable the NFS server service on all of my cvm's - is there any official documentation that I can share with my peers to support this so that I can get an exemption from this risk on these systems?

Hello, If I have 3 Nutanix nodes and I cluster them together. How can I make a separate VPC for a test stack and a separate VPC for a Production stack? So that way I can build my VM's on the test stack and once they are good to go...I can do the same steps on my Production stack. I would like to have 2 isolated stacks for testing and production. Is this possible? Thanks

I just deployed Prism central scale out on my ESXi cluster and see that the two additional PC appliances have an iso mounted to their CDROM drives. Does this need to stay connected? I’d like to spread these 3 appliances across different datastores. (And ideally, I’d like to move these across sites but I understand that this is a future feature: https://next.nutanix.com/product-ideas-61/multi-cluster-scale-out-prism-central-28305)

I am looking to monitor performance of my Volume Groups during third party backups. I am using a 3rd party vendor and when the backup starts, Volume Groups are created for the snapshotted disks. I want to create a metric/entity chart but want to see if there is a way to create one for ALL Volume Groups so when a new one is created, it is included into the chart. Currently I can only see creating it while one exists but I want to monitor it from start to finish periodically.

There appears to be an issue with the latest Powershell Cmdlets for Version 5.11 that reports itself as Version 5.1.1 (not 5.11) so there is a mismatch. This will bring up a Warning dialogue box asking you if you want to continue with this mismatch (Cluster Version 5.11 and CmdLets Version 5.1.1). This can affect any Powershell Automation Scripts you have running that will be waiting for user intervention! You can change the Nutanix Connection method to Force the Connection using the following syntax: Connect-NTNXCluster -Server "Your server here" -UserName "Your user" -Password "Your password" -AcceptInvalidSSLCerts [b]-ForcedConnection[/b] [b]Note: It is the ForcedConnection that enables the bypass of the mismatch for your scripts.[/b] Hopefully they will update the Version with the next iteration of the Cmdlets without the apparent typo of 5.1.1 instead of 5.11. Hello, I will need to power off a "Metro Standby Site", which has VMs running on it. I would like to manually migrate those VMs to the primary (active) site and Shut down / Power Off the nodes in the Standby site approx. 24-36 hours. All VMs need to be running on the active side and no VMs are to be restarted (RTO + RPO =0). Can you use a FC card in one node of a Nutanix cluster to do a storage Vmotion / migration to the New esxi Hosts in the cluster ? FC card will present the current VMFS partition to the new esxi host running in the cluster .Then storage vmotion the vm's across to the new storage( NFS partition in the nutanix cluster ) Is this possible ? Prefered option as NFS would only be on a 1 gig network and we need to do this quickly Any input will be appreciated ?

Good Morning:We are in the process of deploying new NX-8235-G7 nodes that are connected to a pair of Cisco Nexus switch. Everything seems to be working well, with the exception of the switch occasionally receiving RX Pause frames from the servers. While this may not necessarily be a problem, I am doing my due dilligence.The switch ports the nodes are connected to are configured as follows:Connected as active/standby NICs Connected via 1 meter 10GE DAC cables 802.1Q trunk Speed/duplex auto-negotiation Flow control auto-negotiationThe nodes themselves are configured with the default network configuration that comes from the factory with the exception of anything that is necessary to support the use of ESXi and our network environment.Any suggestions or validations of how the switch ports should be configured? Thanks!

hello guys, I am new in Nutanix I want to learn Nutanix , take exam and I need virtual environment for testing is there anyone can help me.

AOS is in 5.10.8, We need to install NGT on Windows Server 2016 with only VSS feature enabled and not SSR. However, after installation, even though the SSR feature is not enabled, there is the SSR icon on the desktop. It can be opened and bring us to “http://localhost:5000”. I can understand that the feature is not active but I would like to avoid having it displayed on the desktop. How to avoid to have this on the desktop ? (I’m looking for another way than deleting the icon manually after NGT installation). What about this local web server ? Could it be stopped ?

I have had a vm fail and now I need access to its storage drive, is there a way to mount its storage drive to a new vm or browse and recover data?
