Shutting down a CVM | Nutanix Community
Just implementing a new cluster and I've ran foundation with NOS4.5.1.2 and ESX 6. The ESXi hosts have not yet been connected to vCenter.

One of the post image steps is to set the correct time zone for the cluster. It says that each CVM needs to be shutdown in Serial.

Is this a simple case of connecting to a each ESXi host and shutting down the CVM, Power it back on, connect to the CVM, via http://cvmip to check that it is up, then move on to the next ESXi host and repeat?

Thanks

Chris
Where are you reading that you need to shut VM's down to fix a timezone? Timezones are set at the cluster level with NCLI ... something like ncli cluster set-timezone=blah
Hi Jon,

i read in in in the latest field guide, page 21. It says that after setting the time zone using the ncli command, you need to restart all the CVM in serial as the cluster can only tolerate one CVM off at anyone time.

the command I have is

ncli > cluster set-timezone timezone=Europe/London

i did also find that after shutting down a CVM and restarting it, you should SSH to that CVM and run cluster status, before moving on to the next.

Specifically which guide are you referring to, which version of the guide, and do you have a URL for it?

This is (in my opinion) some incorrect docs, and I did some searching, found a few references to what you're talking about, but I also looked as the Time Zone change KB, mentions nothing about a restart.

I submitted an internal ticket to get to the bottom of this ASAP, as one of our documents (either the product docs, or the KB) is wrong, so I'll get the right answer for you.
Internal ticket, if anyone inside NTNX wants to reference is SR-2055

Time Zone KB is here: https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/kbs/details?targetId=kA0600000008SNvCAM

One way or the other, we'll get this sharpened up, thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Hi Jon, I did see that KBThe guide is in the documentation, search for field under the foundation option. The guide is for v3 and updated Dec 28th 2015RegardsChris
Ahha! Ok, thanks, I've added that link to the internal ticket as well, we'll get to the bottom of it
Good morning.

Just had a typo configuring default-gateway so I am trying to change it.

1) does it required CVM reboot in order reflect new default-gateway

Assume that you have followed and changed CVM default-gateway via correct file (/etc/sysconfig.../ifcfg-eth0)

then you will just have to restart the network service OR reboot the CVM to make it run
