After AOS Update Health Page Error (java.lang.NullPointerException)

I completed an AOS upgrade from 5.5.2.2 to 5.10.8 on two different clusters.  On one cluster I have the health page showing a warning symbol (no data) and the message: “An error has occurred. Show me why” When I role over “Show me why” I see the message “java.lang.NullPointerException”.  I have a ticket open with Nutanix but haven’t received any solutions that have worked yet.

Appreciate help if someone knows how to resolve.

@jvanderzee  I found out this seem to be a known issue and in your case since the AOS upgrade has already happend, we need to use an internal script to fix the issue. This has been reflected in an internal KB article.

If you want let me know your case number so I can point to this internal KB article there for the owner to review.   This is relatively new and chances are the owner will hear about it very soon or he/she knows about it but has not had a chance to reach you yet. I am sure they will reach you with it.

Case is 00668991.  Thank you for the fix.  Glad to hear it is a known issue I’m sure the support tech will be happy to see the article. :)

Let me kow if this works out.

Hello Jvanderzee,

I have the same issue with an A0S 5.6 and an upgrade of ncc in version 3.9.3. Can you tell me about the fix?

@EricOBR If the NCC is already at 3.9.3 level then upgrade from AOS 5.6 to a higher level (fro example 5.10.6) should fix the issue.

@sbarab

We have planned to upgrade but not now, we will talk from this with the our architect as we have many dependencies to consider. Is there another solution

Regards

@EricOBR, In that case, you should also open a case with our support so they can apply the fix we have internally for this.

I have already open a case 00704574

But the support doesn’t tell me about the fix

@EricOBR Hi, I looked at the case 00704574, and searched for the string “java.lang.NullPointerException”, but did not see any reference to that. I also checked provided logs but no files there indicating the same string.

You might have provided that but I could not find it there.

Is this the same issue we are talking about here?  If this is the same exact issue, please report about the string “java.lang.NullPointerException” on the case. I will add my notes there so the support can see it after you let me know about this.

If it is not the same exact issue (an upgrade that has already happened without the NCC being in revision 3.9.3  before the upgrade and now you see the string “java.lang.NullPointerException” on prism) , then open another case and do mention it there. The issue you are seeing may be similar but may not be exactly the same issue (just a thought).

Let me know how it goes.

@EricOBR Ok, I added a private note for support hoping they can relate the reported issue and your case.. Make sure they have done a WebEx or zoom session with you to observe the issue directly.

Let me know how it goes.
