Hello, this is Marc Malotke, your Nutanix SE. Today, I would like to provide you an overview of Prism Element, Prism Central, and Prism Pro. First, it is important to understand that our Nutanix solution is made up of two distinct pieces, Prism, and Acropolis. Since we will be diving into Prism today, I want to spend a moment talking about Acropolis. Acropolis is our operating system that includes the distributed storage fabric, the application mobility fabric, and let's not forget our Acropolis hypervisor that we like to call AHV. So what is Prism? Here's my definition. The single pane of glass to manage your data center that provides one-click infrastructure management, one-click operational insights, and one-click planning. This is very important because if you think about the way you go about your day in the data center, you are actually in and out of multiple tools and GUIs to not only manage your data center parts and pieces, but you also need even more tools and GUIs to try
Hello, I'm curious if anyone else has had issue getting Windows authentication with WS-man setup within CALM for the Login Check and remote execution of scripts. I have followed the docs and redone the setup a few times for validation, but the login check still fails with a vague error that just says to check out WINRM troubleshooting help. What's odd is that after I provision the Windows image, I can manually invoke commands for remote execution and login with the following command against the newly provisioned IP: PS C:\Users\Administrator> Invoke-Command -ComputerName 10.32.4.246 -ScriptBlock { $PSVersionTable.PSversion } -Credential administrator@domain.com My Karan service is installed and configured with a domain administrator, all PS commands in the document have been run as "administrator" on the Karan server and the target base Windows image as required. CredSSP has been run on the Karan server to allow all hosts as Trusted Hosts and the command to enable Cre
I know in Calm you can create variables in the service, and then use those variables throughout the config using @@{service.variable}@@. However, it doesn't seem like you can use those in cloud-init scripts. I'd like to be able to pass a variable that the user sets at the time of deployment (the IP address), which would then be used in the cloud-init script. I've tried something like this, to no avail: code:#cloud-confighostname: HAProxy1fqdn: HAProxy1.domain.comssh_pwauth: yeswrite_files: - path: /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 content: | DEVICE=eth0 BOOTPROTO="none" IPADDR="@@{HAProxy1.IP_Address}@@" PREFIX="24" GATEWAY="172.25.51.254" DOMAIN="VIPCUSTOMERS.COM VTINFO.COM" DEFROUTE="yes" ONBOOT="yes" DNS1="172.25.51.10" DNS2="172.25.51.2" IPV4_FAILURE_FATAL="yes" IPV6INIT="no"runcmd: - [ifdown, eth0] - [ifup, eth0] Where HAProxy1.IP_Address is a user defined variable. Any thoughts on how I might a
Hi, Does prism has multi-tenancy? We want do like belows. User A can see and manage user A's VM. But user A can't see and manage other user's VM. Cluster Admin can see and manage about Hypervisor, Hardware, and so on. But Cluster admin can't manage VMs.Best Regards,
Hi everyone i've an health cluster alert on one of my cluster but when i select this alert i have nothing in warning, all services are green i have resolved all old alerts thanks for you help guillaume
Hi AOS 5.5.2 HypervisorNutanix 20170830.120 From one of several nodes A warning alarm occurs. The message is as follows. Detailed information for disk_usage_check: Node xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx WARN: /home usage at 84% (greater than threshold, 80%) Refer to KB 1523 (http://portal.nutanix.com/kb/1523) for details on disk_usage_check I checked that node into CVM. I deleted the download file used for the upgrade, but it is still 82%, but I do not know what to clean up. I want to know the solution. Or should I open the case? I wonder. Please ask for advice. Thank you.
I opened the software auto download function, hope to be able to upgrade automatically. !!!! WTF? Why can't upload pictures!!!!!!!!! In that case, I'll simply describe it with words. on prism web,I cannot stop or finish downloading, even though this download task has been stuck for a long time. In other words, buttons or options without relevant functions. The Official Handbook is inquired. The description in this respect is very crude. It has not helped me. can i consult login via SSH terminate the download,Or what other effective ways? by the way,Technical support for the community is too bad to use at all.
Hello Guys,As far as I know AFS not supported in a Hyper - v environment, but when I look at software updates I see that there is an option to install AFS, out of curiosity I have installed the same and it even gives an option configure Network & IP for the AFS? My question is, would is really work in hyper-v 212 environment?
Hello Guys , We are running CVM on intenet restrcited Vlan , May I know if I have to give any exception for nutanix update server , ntp..etc Here are the few traffics being blocked by my firewall. 206.169.130.226 Port 443 ( CVM to Internet )
Using CALM, it seems the best way to deploy VMs is from a VM image that you add to the Image Configuration store. However, when using Prism Central, it doesn't seem this is possible with ACLI to create an image from an AHV VM. How are people taking an AHV VM in PC inventory and making an image out of it so that you can add it to the image configuration repository? Thanks!
I recently upgraded my three clusters to AOS 5.5.06, AHV 20170830.94, and Prism Central 5.5 I noticed that after this upgrade, the ability to update the VM running Prism Central is now greyed out, as is the Power Off Actions. My instance of Prism Central has 16GiB of memory and is running at 96%+ memory usage. I'd sure like to increase its memory and reboot it via the proper procedure. I SSH'd into the VM and ran top to see the big memory users and the 'insights_server' and a few 'java' tasks are consuming over 10% each. Has doc been created on troubleshooting PC 5.5 VM issues?
Hi, I got notification RED Heart about one Cluster Services has critical status. But I do the Manual check and no error occurs. How can I determine what happen? Many thank for your advices.
Hi Can anyone tell me what is the difference between the controller IOPS and disk IOPS? is controller IOPS all the traffic from VMs goign through CVMs and disk includes some other stuff none-VM related? I don't understand how some time Controller IOPs is higher than disks and some times it's the opposite. Thanks
Hi Everyone, The application blueprint in calm I can select a VM templates from image service but when I going to make deploy I can't choose container target and My VMs are create in image container. Thanks,
From the Support Portal site there's an announcement that Prism Central v5.1.5 is available to download but the link takes you to v5.1.4. -Matt
Hi All,I'm trying to copy a disk image between 2 containers, but this seems impossible when the PE is connected to PC. The error is: "Operation kImageCreate not allowed when PE is registered to PC". NOS: 5.5PC: 5.5Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
I tried to install Prism Central, the task named "download and deploy prism central" is now 100% since three days and i cannot stop it through PRISM interface. I have seen that ncli has a "task" command, but looks like not useful. I have been trying to find the task with "progress-monitor" command, but it shows nothing related to prism central. How can I stop it? Or at least clean the task to proceed with a new installation?
Nutanix recently announced the release of Nutanix Calm, an application orchestration and lifecycle management product in the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud platform. In this demo, we show you how a custom application blueprint created in vRealize Automation (vRA) can be reproduced on Nutanix Calm. Here, the original application was provisioned on vSphere through the vRealize portal, and we demonstrate the same application provisioned on AHV through Prism Central. In addition, external integrations that were custom developed in vRealize Orchestrator (vRO) to automate customer specific processes can be leveraged as-is within the Calm blueprints. In this demo we demonstrate leveraging existing vRO integrations in: IPAM integration with InfoBlox, loadbalancer deployment and management with F5, Chef cookbooks to deploy NGINX and MongoDB, and ServiceNow ticketing integration. We also demonstrate additional lifecycle operations that can be easily implemented for the application, to help
I've SSH'd to my prism central server and I'm trying to run the "authconfig" ncli command but I receive the error "java not installed". Currently running Prism Central v5.1.4. I've run the same ncli command when SSH'd to my CVM's in the cluster without issue. -Matt
Hi, we installed last week the latest version of Prism Central (5.1.3), when we tried to add a New Workload into new scenario, based on "Existing VMs" we have always the following error: "RPC error kTransportError raised" If I add an SQL Server as Wordload, Prism Central works fine. Br, Emanuele
Hi all, I have a 13 node AHV cluster (5.1.3 / 20160925.90) where all my VM's (around 70) - status is randomly changing from On (which they are) to unknown. The VM's are running just fine but it seems Prism is unable to get their correct status. Also the CPU usage is constantly reporting exactly 50/100% when they are seen as on - regardless of their actual use - and 0% when off. Have anyone seen this before, or have an idea what could cause it? NCC is not reporting anything of interest so I'm very puzzled.
I have noticed that image (.ISO) uploads to image configuration in Prism fail at 4 Gb. the upload seems to be fine then IE throws the error that IE has crashed. When you re-open Prism, it looks complete, but it's at 4Gb when the actual .ISO was 5,6,7 or bigger. It works fine in Chrome. Is this a known issue? I see it mentioned in other threads; https://next.nutanix.com/t5/How-It-Works/Windows-2016-server-install-on-AOS-failing-with-driver-errors/m-p/22053/highlight/false#M901 The message in Prism changes from "Uploading file 65%" to "Loading data..." (screenshot 2) and then IE crashes. Then after you log back in, the upload always has failed at 4 Gb.
Hi, I read the post https://next.nutanix.com/t5/Prism-Central/Download-Prism-Central/m-p/7863#M1. But after clicking on the download link for ESX, it turns out to download version 4.6 (I think this is an old version). How can I download Prism Central 5.1 or latest version? Or it is not free for download at all? Thanks, Liang
running through the big 5.5 upgrade this weekend and I'm running into a currious issue. After installing a fresh copy of prism central 5.5 (we never used it befoer 5.5, but now it's required), I cannot seem to get the ad authentication to work. The connection is configured, and I can still search for and map groups to roles (so I know at least some ofthe AD integration is working), but when it comes time to actually login ... I keep get that I'm using a bad username/password. Release notes mention that everything is UPN based, but that's basically always been the case for my company anyway (we've always logged in using upn).Anyone else run into this?
This one is stumping me. I opened a low priority ticket to get some official info, but i figured i would ask here to see if anyone else has had a similar experience: Background: we received an alert from prism central that one of our cluster's was going to run out of CPU soon. I checked in the hypervisor (esxi) and in prism element and in central under analysis but i could not find an issue. Then, i checked planning and it shows us running out of CPU very soon. At first i thought the initial load up was skewing the data, but when i looked closer, i noticed that the value planning was using for our current usage was at 50Ghz, when the hypervisor is reporting 12Ghz (cluster of 3).I pulled all of the other cluster's planning data and all of them have the same problem, CPU usage is being greatly over reported on the planning chart. Charts under analysis agree with the hypervisor, but these are looking at % usage, not hz. What gives? is there a bug in how planning is calculatin
