Suggested steps for node to decommiction for G5 and add G9

Hi All,I would like to ask for your advice on the plan to replace the M5 node, there are three nodes of nx-1065 M5 and one node of nx-1175s M7 and one node of nx-1175s-M8 , all AOS version are 6.5.3.6 and ESXi are 7.0u3, we have purchased 3 nodes of nx-1175s G9 this time. May I ask:Option 1: Since G5 can only be compatible with up to three generations (G5 -G8?), we need to retire G5. Instead, we need to add another G7 or G8 node to the existing cluster, and then decommiction three more G5 devices before adding G9 to the cluster. Although this process is cumbersome, the capacity is added to the same cluster, but there is a question: can G9 install AOS 6.5.3.6?Another option is to create a new cluster (AOS 6.10) with three G9s and add them to the existing vcenter 7.0U3. Then, turn on EVC to gradually migrade the VMs over, and then decommiction the original G7 and G8 before adding them to the G9 cluster. This method is relatively simple, but it requires moving approximately 6-70 VMs to G9

Missing vendors from sizer

Hello guys,I’m trying to create a config for a customer but it seems that the sizer doesn’t include Lenovo as possible hardware platform. I know this is wrong since Lenovo sells the HX servers that come with AHV pre-installed.How can I solve this?Thanks for your kind help.Alberto

Create vm from Template using Powershell

I’m somewhat disappointed in the product, , trying to create a VM from a template using Powershell. Modules are installed and we’re of to a flying start with this: Import-Module Nutanix.CliImport-Module Nutanix.Prism.PS.Cmds -Prefix NTNXImport-Module Nutanix.Prism.Common -Prefix NTNXConnect-PrismCentral -Server $PrismServer -Credential $cred -ForcedConnection -AcceptInvalidSSLCerts After this we’re in strife. Even the simple example below (from https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=PS-Cmdlets-AOS-v6_8:cmd-ps-VM-auto-r.html) does not work:New-VM -Name testvm1 -ClusterName poc-cluster -NumVcpus 1 -MemoryMb 500 Results in this:Task(s) bf18c5bc-6588-4f49-8914-3ad5da414b27 failed due to Failed to call REST endpoint from Prism Central : cluster not reachable.The cluster is reachable (on the same subnet), port 9440 is open and responding.Any ideas?

Hardware Requirements for AHV Metro Availability

We would like to have written information from Nutanix on what traffic/processes required in 3rd site as witness and Prism Central for sizing purpose.The diagram of the Witness and PE Sites https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Disaster-Recovery-DRaaS-Guide-vpc_2024_1:ecd-ecdr-witness-syncrep-pc-c.htmlCustomer queried several times on the lowest requirements on setting up the 3rd site witness which customer believe witness functionality should be with minimum hardware requirements unlike the URL provided.Many thanks.

Nutanix on VMware Workstaion

I am just starting to follow Nutanix University courses to learn Nutanix. My background in virtualisation is VMware.  Last year I had to write designs to build a platform for VMware Horizon and to learn that I build a Horizon Platform on VMware Workstation.  To do that I was lucky enough to find blogs that provided full instructions to do this on Workstation. The instructions even set up AD domain. Is there anybody out there who has found a similar set of instructions to follow to build a Nutanix Test lab. With a Block platform, and the required associated infrastructure ?OR something similar, maybe a book that includes this ?  Thank you Mike B , Reeth, N YorkshireTechnical Architect

Upgraded Prism Central and warp drive has gone! Can we have it back? Please!!??

Hello, Just upgraded our Prism Central to pc.2023.4.0.2 and the new login screen is sooooo boring, my colleagues tell me.  They want the feature to engage the warp drive back.Just a thought.  As you can tell, it’s a quiet Monday afternoon here.  Would be grateful if Nutanix would look to re-instating it in a later release.  Thank goodness 2048 hasn’t been retired, or I’d have a riot in the building..
