Hello. Welcome to Tech TopX. My name is Alex Heath, and I'm a systems reliability engineer in Durham, North Carolina. In this quick video, we will cover an alert you might see in your cluster. Let's navigate to the alerts tab in Prism. Here's an example of the alert. In order to resolve this alert, the CVM is not synchronizing time with any external servers, we'll first need to add an NTP server to your cluster. Let's navigate to settings, then NTP servers. Input your server and click add. We can also add NTP servers through CLI by running the following: NCLI, cluster, add to NTP servers, servers equals, and then server name. Now let's resolve the alert. Okay. Next, we'll verify the NTP server has been added. Once these steps have been completed, we can run an NCC to verify the alert has been resolved. In Prism, you might see an alert, disk space usage high. This alert is generated when a disk. Usage on your controller VM reaches 95% in order to verify, first we need to check the disk usage across the cluster. You can do this by running the following, all SSH DF-H. Here's an example of one of your CVMs. We can see here that the home directory is above 95%. We can remove any unnecessary files by following KB 1540. You can find a link to that in the description below. I've deleted some larger files to clear up some space. Once that's done, you can verify the space has been cleared by rerunning DF-H on the effected CVM or run the specific NCC check, NCC health checks, hardware checks, disk checks, disk usa

Hi there, Does Nutanix provide a simulator on sandbox/hosted version of Prism? We want to fetch few monitoring parameters/operational health data into our own tool using Prism APIs. However, we currently don't have Nutanix gear in our lab, so wondering, if we can get simulator or sandbox access. Thanks

Hi All, I am in the progress of launching a blueprint via CALM. However encountered the IP not found error. How do we add the IP address to the Blueprint VM Configuration? Have filled up all possible network related fields: Network adapters (NICS) : NIC 1 - VLAN0 Connection: Address - NIC 1 From the logs: Waiting for 60 seconds to finish the guest customization Reapplying micro segmentation categories Waiting for VM a2b28676-fa5d-4ab3-a1bb-04cdc9351727 to get an IP ERROR: Failed to get an IP for the VM a2b28676-fa5d-4ab3-a1bb-04cdc9351727 It seems that it is stuck in the Guest customization issue. Good day! Does anyone know how to check the pre registration checks which are failing for me? Tasks message on the CE cluster doesn't state anything in detail Just says create remote connection- 100% Aborted register prism element with prism central- 100% Aborted pre registration checks- 100% Failed Prism seems to be running ok ( AHV)

I did a trial of Flow about a year ago. We decided to not implement Flow. Since then obviously the licenses have expired, but the expiry banner remains even though we don't plan on using it. How do I remove that license/suppress the banner?

Hello, We want to manage multi-tennancy using Nutanix. We have different clients and we want to give visibility them only to manage their VMs. When a client access to prism console, he only will be able to check his VMs and resources, create new machine on his side...not resources and VMs from the B client for example. Is this possible using the last version (5.10.2)? We have seen on last version Nutanix has launched Self Service Portal? Could it be helpful to achieve this requirement? Thanks in advance. Regards,

Hello, My AHV cluster is attached to PC I have created VM and I need to convert this VM to template but the acli command clone_from_vmdisk falls with error not allowed when PE is registered with PC I have cloned VM with PC but I don't know how to convert to image. Thanks for your support

Customer has large Nutanix environment across globe and would like to upgrade prism central to 5.10.2, but the download link is not available in the portal. The download link was there before a month and not now. Could you please share the link to download PC 5.10.2 (upgrade) and is there a reason why it has been removed from the portal.? Thanks.

Issue resolved, but alerts persisting with old time stamp. alerts ware generated during network maintenance, now all ok need to clear logs, need procedure to clear the old alerts.

I just created 4 new Server 2012R2 VMs and this morning I see yellow exclamation points on them with the message "VSS snapshot is not supported for the VM 'WinSrv12R2', because VM has IDE disks attached" These were created with 100G SATA drives and a SATA CD-ROM so I cant figure out why I'm seeing this message. I recently had an individual VM whose CPU spiked to between 94-98% for roughly 6 hours. I'd only caught it because the user finally called in and said their VM was slow. In Prism it wasn't showing a warning at all, but I could very clearly see that the CPU was pegged. I wondered if there was any way to set up an email alert for if CPU/RAM at the VM-level has sustained utilization above a certain threshold?

I am trying to access the console of a VM in AHV. I have powered on the VM. While trying the button 'launch console' , the screen becomes grey for a moment. But I don't get the console. I tried this using chrome and firefox.
