Research Request: VM Start Ordering
I was honored by my company, and recieve 1 block 4 nodes NX-3060-G5 for use on my own projects. It’s a old node without support and inside of EOL list. What happened is that, i don’t know how, received an alert saying that AHV had a crash on files. But 20 seconds after the host was okay, and the alert was solved itself. But, 3 machines which was working into this node crashed too, preventing access through console, migrate the VMs, power off, etc. I tried remove the host for reimage it, but is stuck: And when I ran the NCLI command to remove the host, trying get the status, shows the follow: Anyone could help me for solve this issue? Any tips?
Hi I am running AHV and CVM on centos 7 OS along with Nutanix instance with below software's version. AOS - el7.nutanix.20191030.415CE 2019.11.22 I wanted to do patch/upgrade of AOS version on centos 7 OS.Please let me know the steps to do this activity, if it is still possible. Thanks!!
Hi All,My customer has a scenario where they initially set up Nutanix in a hardware management lan, which is controlled by a firewall. Now they have a need to connect the backup server on the other end of the firewall, without opening the firewall, can we set the external IP to be bound to the network permitted by the firewall, so that the backup server can connect to the external IP? I don't know if there will be any problems.

Hello,Newbie here. We are just moving off of VMware to Nutanix and have an issue. We use HPE OneView to manage bare metal servers that we have at various locations and is running in VMware but HPE tells us it’s not supported on the Nutanix hypervisor. We can’t be the only shop that has a OneView appliance and are moving to Nutanix from VMware. So I am reaching out to the community here in the hope that someone has been down this path and can point the best way forward to still use OneView.

Hi everyone, I was looking at the documentation and the switches recommended by Nutanix itself:https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/solutions/details?targetId=BP-2050-Physical-Networking.html Is there any reason why no Extreme Networks switch is on the list? Some clients have requested that the provided equipment be on this list, but there are some very similar (if not fully compatible) models with several Extreme Networks devices, like the Extreme Networks 7520-48Y or Extreme Networks 8520-48Y.Is there any reason for this? Or is it simply because someone needs to approve it from either side?

We made an update our Prism Central to 2023.4.0.2 version.Our administrators are unable to login to PC via ldap user after we made update to 2023.4.0.2 version.Only local admins could to login.I tried to upgrade PC to new version 2023.4.0.4 .But progress is stuck on 5 percent (Preupgrade step)LCM not works.We tried cluster restart.But it didn't help.Please help us to find some solution in this case
We’re migrating from Vmware to AHV in parts of our environment. In Vmware, our helpdesk has permissions to reboot virtual desktops. Our desktops are all in one folder and their rights are limited to “View”, “Console” and “Change power state”. How can I do this in Nutanix Element? It doesn’t look like I can create folders. And it looks like my options are pretty much administrator or view only. Am I missing something?
Hey!Since the support for Nvidia Grid Release Branch 13.x ended in August ‘24 (NVIDIA Virtual GPU (vGPU) Software - NVIDIA Docs), we are curious about updating to a newer release branch.We are using pooled VDI machines mit vGPU Tesla T4 in our Nutanix environment so live-migration is a key feature. As live migration isn’t available in “newer” release branches by now i think we are stuck on this ‘unsupported-like’ constellation, aren’t we?Is there somebody else in this situation? Hello.I detected a problem using the latest kernel 6.1.0.-25-amd64 with all my VMs under Nutanix. I recently upgraded all my Debian servers from version 12.6 to 12.7: in version 12.6 the linux kernel in use was 6.1.0-23-amd64 and in version 12.7 is 6.1.0-25-amd64. The issue is related with the download speed using this kernel in all my upgraded VM’s. It’s extremely slow. So after 2 days trying to figure out what was happening (installing debian 12.7 in a new VM same problem....installing in VirtualBox no problem at all), so I decided to rollback to the old kernel, maintaining the Debian version 12.7 (with kernel 6.1.0-23-amd64) and the problem stopped. Hi all,First time posting, a little background on me and my environment. I am a VCP and have been doing VMware virtualization for the last 20 years. I have 2 Nutanix blocks at home loaded with 3060-G7’s. It’s a pretty nice setup (It went out of warranty, so was given to me to take home, so pretty lucky there.) So I got it all loaded up with community edition and everything was running smooth. I bought a new Uni-Fi 10gb switch for home, as well as a plethora of other unifi products. Here is where I fouled up big time:I set up link aggregation Active-Active on my only vswitch. After changing it, I realized I didn’t have any SFP’s for my switch. So I connected them to my UDM-SE. I assumed my UDM-SE supported LACP, but it did not and it threw my entire network into a frenzy. I eventually figured out that having the blades plugged into my UDM-SE, with LACP enabled, was causing a lot of routing confusion (which took my own home network offline for sometime). Hi there We are running pc.2023.4.0.2 and because we would like to upgrade to AOS 6.8.1, we need to first upgrade the Prism Central to pc.2024.x. However, upgrading from pc.2023.4.0.2 to any pc.2024.x at the moment, it’s not supported. As of today, the latest PC Version is 2024.1.0.2. I do understand the upgrade N to N+2, but when it comes to PC, i don’t know what N+2 means relative to pc.2023.4.0.2.Considering that AOS 6.5 is going EOM in Oct 2024, we are a little afraid that we’ll not be able to upgrade our AOS’es 6.5.x to AOS 6.8 in time, because PC 2024.x is a prerequisite for AOS 6.8. I am running Kubernetes management 1.28.5-1 and installed a basic production cluster. Hi TeamI am trying to setup Prism Central in Nutanix CE. I have configured the required details in Prism Console for deploying prism central. My deployment is failing repeatedly and getting the error saying it’s failed in tarball extraction phase. I have tried multiple times and every time I saw the issue in UI. I went through the /home/nutanix/data/logs/genesis.out logs to get more details on the issue. I found something interesting there. When we start the Prism central deployment, it first tried to download the prism central tarball and unzip it. One it’s unzipped then it’s start to convert the qcow2 file to image. when it start to convert the qcow2 → image , the command is configured with a timeout of 1800 sec. I have been trying to install Nutanix CE on a bear-metal machine (homelab) to day but it constantly fails. It seems that the culprit is related to instsvcdrv.service not being able to start. I’ve recreated the USB drive for a few times with various drives but the behavior is the same.It’s probably something else hardware related but I can’t pin point it.The system is a AMD 7950x with 96GB RAM and 3 x 990 PRO NVME drives which worked fine with Proxmox.
I’m attempting a new installation of CE. The installation itself completes with no apparent errors but I can’t connect to either the AHV or CVM IP’s assigned during the install. The onboard server NIC is a four port HPE 331i which has a Broadcom chipset. Three of the ports are connected to the same network vlan that the IP addresses are tied to. I have tried trunking them on the switch side, leaving them all on as individual ports and enabling/disabling each so that only one connects at a time and have had no luck with any of these strategies. I’ve tried to log into the console of the CE server but haven’t been able to find credentials that work. Any ideas would be much appreciated since I’m so close to be done hopefully.
