I’m somewhat disappointed in the product, , trying to create a VM from a template using Powershell. Modules are installed and we’re of to a flying start with this: Import-Module Nutanix.CliImport-Module Nutanix.Prism.PS.Cmds -Prefix NTNXImport-Module Nutanix.Prism.Common -Prefix NTNXConnect-PrismCentral -Server $PrismServer -Credential $cred -ForcedConnection -AcceptInvalidSSLCerts After this we’re in strife. Even the simple example below (from https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=PS-Cmdlets-AOS-v6_8:cmd-ps-VM-auto-r.html) does not work:New-VM -Name testvm1 -ClusterName poc-cluster -NumVcpus 1 -MemoryMb 500 Results in this:Task(s) bf18c5bc-6588-4f49-8914-3ad5da414b27 failed due to Failed to call REST endpoint from Prism Central : cluster not reachable.The cluster is reachable (on the same subnet), port 9440 is open and responding.Any ideas?

Hello All,We have a Nutanix POC and I am playing around with the permissions. I am trying to create a role/category for our Cohesity backup. What entities are needed for the role. I assume cluster and VMs, but I am getting “Requested entity doesn’t exist” when trying to add the Nutanix source to Cohesity. It works fine when I add the source with a Prism Admin account. Can anyone point me to the proper permissions needed. TIA TJ
Hi all, new to Nutanix here likely for the same reason a million other folk are trying it out. I’ve managed to find the download (though not exactly straight forward) for Phoenix 6.8.1 CE and am attempting to first time install on an r820 with 5 enterprise ssd sas in front bay. I’ve split the first off into it’s own virtual drive at full capacity (300something gb) for H install. The second and third off into their own individual virtual drives for CVM1 and CVM2. Then the last two combined into one virtual drive for D. I am able to select the virtual drives for H and D however the CVMS tell me it can’t be selected because the drives must be SSD which they are. Drives are fine and the virtual disks are recognized just not allowed to be selected. Any insight is greatly appreciated I’d love to test Nutanix out but documentation has been all over and even downloading (from a link in a seemingly random forum post) my confidence is a bit waned.

Hi TeamI am trying to setup Prism Central in Nutanix CE. I have configured the required details in Prism Console for deploying prism central. My deployment is failing repeatedly and getting the error saying it’s failed in tarball extraction phase. I have tried multiple times and every time I saw the issue in UI. I went through the /home/nutanix/data/logs/genesis.out logs to get more details on the issue. I found something interesting there. When we start the Prism central deployment, it first tried to download the prism central tarball and unzip it. One it’s unzipped then it’s start to convert the qcow2 file to image. when it start to convert the qcow2 → image , the command is configured with a timeout of 1800 sec. From prism Central Element, I am trying to deploy Prism Central. When I go for create new Prism central through Prism Central Element GUI, it did not list out available versions. Instead, it just shows “No compactible versions for Deployment”. Following is what I have. I am using nutanix hardware.Version 6.8.1 - COMMUNITY LicenseNCC Version: 5.0.1LCM Version: 3.0.1.1 Not sure, how I can deploy prism central If I do not have binary. If I uncheck the option “Only show compatible versions”, it lists out following public version.pc.2023.4.0.2pc.2022.6.0.10pc.2022.6.0.11pc.2022.6.0.12 In that case, I had deployed pc.2023.4.0.2 but i never able to get GUI. I suspect the compatibility issue.Any help would be appreciated.
We’re migrating from Vmware to AHV in parts of our environment. In Vmware, our helpdesk has permissions to reboot virtual desktops. Our desktops are all in one folder and their rights are limited to “View”, “Console” and “Change power state”. How can I do this in Nutanix Element? It doesn’t look like I can create folders. And it looks like my options are pretty much administrator or view only. Am I missing something?

Our company is just starting on on our Nutanix journey, we are currently deployed in NC2 and have setup Oracle 8.9 VMs on AHV. We have setup the Entra ID integration to the Nutanix Console, but we were looking to setup user authentication to log in to the local Oracle Linux 8.9 servers, but have not been able to find a runbook on how to do this if it is possible. Can you integrate Azure Entra ID with a AHV VM that is running on NC2? The bare metal is running in EastUS. Any assistance or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,I am attempting to deploy a Nutanix CE virtual machine on KVM; however, I am encountering the following error: Upon investigation, it appears that the installer is attempting to access certain system information from /sys/class/dmi/id within the VM, but this data is unavailable.I have made several attempts to pass this information using virt-install, but these efforts have not been successful. Has anyone completed an integration using Azure Site Recovery to protect a Nutanix VM and performed a test failure to Azure with a successful failback to on-prem? I have seen a couple of blogs on treating the Nutanix VM as physical, etc. Just wondering if this is being used to success out here in the wild and any knowledge you may have gained. I have learned that Guest VMs transmit data to AHV and AHV reroute data to CVMs. Then, CVMs transmit data through PCIe passthrough (I haven’t got this point because CVMs still VM. so, it can’t bypass its hypervisor) to HBA hardware. After that, HBA transmits data to disks. But I want detailed data flow that explain hardware and software (like Curator, Medusa… etc) data flow from guest VM to the disks because it will be useful for troubleshooting and confidants while working with Nutanix Solution. Could anyone help me?
I'm surprised how RDMA connect different memories through NIC without needing CPU. Memory is volatile storage and NIC is network I/O. they can't perform anything and can't understand application needs!
