Hello Nutanix I am currently in progress of deployment of Acropolis File Services (AFS) Everything has been going well until the "Can't contact LDAP Server" error occured I have given it a check by viewing some configuration on NVM and found out that although on Prism, they have been assigned with 2 IPs but actually running with only 1 IP when checked via console by ifconfig command (eth0 only) Let me make it clearer via the "topology" below: CVMs connecting to NVMs by Subnet A IPs Clients, AD and DNS servers should be connected to NVMs by Subnet B IPs Recently, those NVMs are running with only 1 Subnet A IP although on Prism, I saw they have already assign with both Subnets?! My block is running with AOS 4.7.2. I have also given some seaches around and seen that both Internal and External networks could be the same as described in this video?! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-z11wVhBxA Thank you in advanced
I had a WIN VM up and running. But I have uninstalled the NUTANIX GUEST tools and VM MOBILITY tools. Now the VM is broken and I cannot boot. Can you help me to start over ?
My cluster was looking very nice in Prism (as usual) yesterday but I happened to take a look at my NCC summary output and found that Genesis wasn't running on one of my cvm's. I was able to issue a 'genesis start' command and all was good again but I'm kind of curious if I should expect the Genesis service status to be reported up to Prism. I gather that, without Genesis running, the cvm won't play in any of the cluster reindeer games so its running status seem kind of important to me. Am I wrong in this assumption? And if not, is there some way that I can get an alarm should this happen again (other than running/reviewing NCC)? Thanks in advance.
Hello Nutanix Currently, my demo cluster has had problem in removing host from cluster The host that I wanted to remove has an SSD showing status: "Marked for removal but not detachable" and it has been kept by that status for a long time with nothing changed despite that the host was shown up as successfully removed the host So, after that I have tried reinstalling this host but that status still showing up and I cannot do anything with the new reinstalled host as well as expanding the cluster with it By the way, I noted that before reinstalling this host, this host was running as a cluster member
Hi, I use Huawei Switch ce6810-24s2q-li with cable twinAx SFP-10G-CU3M (P/N: Huawei 02310MUP). Is it compatible with nutanix NX1365-G5 10Gb nic? thanks
Can I move any VM from AHV 4.7 to ESX 5.5. is it possible?
Hello Team, i want to convert a physical server to AHV VM,there are any nutanix tool for this . thank you.
Hi, I am new to Nutanix, we just received the demo machine yesterday. I have a question, how to get started up and running with basic stuff. I got the box NX-3450 setup, plugged all the wires, turned on but making loud noise non-stop. I appreciate your help.
Hi all, we're on AOS 4.7.2 with vmware 6.0 upd 2 I was thinking to add a secondary vmknic management interface on all esxi hosts (to be used for backups) doing that just on vmware config without touching anything in cluster config? Thanks a.
Good day Nutants I got a situation that I'd really appreciate your help in resolving After successfully migrating a PD to a remote site and successfully powering on the VM at the remote site, when I attempt to Migrate the PD back to the Main(Prod) Site it fails with error : critical Protection Domain XXXXXXX activate/deactivate failed and cause is listed as "Protection domain cannot be activated or migrated" Any pointers?? This PD has one CG with one VM in it (WIN SERVER 2012 with NGT installed and NGA service is running)
I've been trying to clear out a entry in the nCLI interface on a CVM without luck. tried the standard 'history -c' and 'events history clear'. Basically I have a value I dont want to show up at the propmt is a user is cycling through the "up arrow history" while in ncli. Anyone with the command?
I have a NX1000 with 3 nodes,i try to destroy the cluster.but it fail on node C. 2016-10-03 23:17:47 WARNING genesis_utils.py:896 Failed to reach a node where Genesis is up. Retrying... (Hit Ctrl-C to abort)
Hi All, I'm a Nutanix KVM user and I would like to know how I can deploy a virtual appliance provided by a third party company. In vmware you can deploy a template, in KVM you can import a new VM ... what about Nutanix / Acropolis ? Thanks. Fred.
Hai nutanix team, I used to reimaging using Foundation 3.0.4 and NOS 4.5.2 with hypervisor 20150921 and running well, no problem faced but I try to using Foundation 3.3, NOS 4.7.1 with Hypervisor host-bundle-el6.nutanix.20160601.6.tar I got problem when reimaging process, 26 % Status failed and I tried again, 60% failed tried again until Reimaging Done 100%. is it impact for the Software/System/Peformance get Failed then try again until success ? fyi, I use NX1065 with 3 Node, each node has 1x480Gb SSD, 2x1Tb HDD Regards, Caplin
Hai Nutanix Team I have a question regarding to customer needs, what sould I suggest to customer if they want to plan migrate their Database existing to Nutanix Acropolis? and If existing physical email server has 2 or more NIC, 1st WAN 2nd LAN, then we migrate to acropolis, so we add another NIC to VM, so what we configure for mapping NIC's WAN or LAN is at Switch Tor or VSwitch at Acropolis ? Regards, Caplin
What is SSD to HDD ratio followed for nutanix?
The mounting rails that came with the NX-3550 are designed for vertical rails with square holes. The vertical rails in my rack have threaded circular holes. How do I mount the NX-3550? are there adaptors? different type of rail?
I am attempting to migrate an ESX cluster sitting on traditional storage and HP hardware to our new Nutanix node. The goal is that we have to make this a live migration before resorting to cold methods. I am aware of the NFS whitelisting method and shared nothing cold migration, however the shared nothing live vmotion migration is not working for me and I was hoping one of you guys knew why. We are using the web browser to do shared nothing vMotion (svMotion + vMotion) in one go. The error message that I get when trying to vMotion from the old cluster to the new cluster is that the source and destination hosts are not eligible for simultaneous storage and compute vMotion Here is the set up Both clusters are in the same vCenter 6 - Windows Old cluster: HP DL 380 G5 (Penryn Generation) ESXi 5.1 U3 1 GB network VSS - vlan 66 New cluster: Nutanix (Sandy Bridge Generation and Ivy) - EVC enabled for Sandy Bridge mode ESXi 5.5 10 GB network VDS - vlan 66 Is it because VSS ca
Hi, I'm deploying a Nutanix cluster with three Dell nodes. The question rose about what timezone should be selected in the iDRAC. It was at first hard for me to undertsand how was the time set into the DRAC and the Bios, and I finally go this: Set Both NTP and Time zone In this method user will configure NTP and Time zone. In this case iDRAC will sync the time with NTP server and selected Time zone will be also applied. iDRAC will sync NTP server’s UTC/GMT time, so it is important that you configure correct time zone while configuring NTP on iDRAC. You can configure up to three NTP servers. It is always recommended to configure all three NTP servers for accuracy. We support IPv4, IPv6 and FQDN format for configuring NTP server address When NTP mode is enabled and iDRAC has received time through this interface, iDRAC will ignore any attempts to set iDRAC time through the server (BIOS, Open Manage, etc.) or CMC (for blade servers). Therefore, what I understand is that once the Ti
Hello- I had a question on remote site best practices. When we create a remote site for PD replication do you think we should create a new container at the remote site for the replicated vms to reside in or just use our existing container that is running that active vms at the remote site? In the second scenario the active vms at the remote site would be on the same container as the snapshots replicating from the PD active site. Just wonder what other people are doing? Thanks, Erik
I have a 3-node cluster for VDI running ESXi on all three nodes. At the moment vCenter (v6.0) is running on a single virtual machine (this virtual server is on a physically separate cluster from the VDI/Nutanix one). I'm starting to look into how to go about moving from that vCenter server to the VMware vCenter appliance. What considerations would need to be made to get the 3-node Nutanix cluster to move from a Windows-based vCenter server to the vCenter appliance? Would there be downtime involved?
Hi, Let's say we have 6 node Nutanix cluster. We want to use 2 nodes for a Oracle VM Cluster and the other 4 for VMWare. Is it possible to do this and use the large NDFS (all 6 nodes) for both hypervisors?

Hi, Is it possible to assign additional IP to nutanix cluster? Scenario is as follows: 1. Having network class A with 10.x.x.x which is used for CVM, hypervisor communication during configuration. 2. Cluster virtual IP is also from 10.x.x.x range. 3. Added additional IP range of 172.x.x.x to CVM, Hypervisor. 4. Is it possible to add additional IP range IP of range 172.x.x.x to cluster virtual IP? Thanks
