Hi, What are requirements of creating Protection Domain with replication at DR / secondary site? Thanks in advance
i can see two VM in the Vsphere with the same nameOne with 100 GB allotted harddisk space i have deleted the around 100 VMs from the cluster and after that too also i am not able to create more machine in the cluster.please advice
Can i use ESXi 5.5 with Foundation 3.3 and AOS 4.7.1, it's work ? Thanks
Hi, How to automate failover in unplanned event using Prism? Thanks in advance
I have a question that might be as a result of old way of thinking/old storage arrays and might be overthinking this :( In Nutanix, VM data is local on a host. For a particular VM, some of it's data/blocks may reside on SSD or Magnetic/spinning disk depending on how hot or cold the data is. I have two questions around this. Is there a way to tell from the Prism dashboard or via cli, for a particular host, where it's data/blocks reside? Put another away,Is there a way to tell %wise for a particular VM how much of it's blocks are on SSD vs spinning/magnetic disk? If i was conducting a migration from an old/traditional setup to a nutanix cluster, how does the Nutanix node know how much of the VM's blocks to place on SSD vs on spinning? Thanks all for your time, Sky.
HI, We need to chagne the root password for one of our ESXi hosts but we don't know how to update the new password to the cvm and prism. Can you tell us what the command is? Regards, Oriol
We are moving from a traditional model with shared storage to Nutanix converged Infra, I want the options for VM migration.I want a best solution, without downtime to migrate my VMs:Our current traditional is:-4 node cluster (2 clusters)-FC storage array-ESXi version 5.5-vCenter 5.5-10Gbps network-vDS - Distributed Switch Our new Nutanix model is:-4 node Nutanix cluster (2 clusters)-NFS local storage-ESXi version 6.0-vCenter 6.0-10Gbps network-NSX Thanks for the suggestions....
Trying to setup a Nutanix cluster (non prod) to automatically email me the NCC results. Have setup the SMTP and alert email configuration sections in Prism Element. Verified from a CVM that emails are being sent okay. Next, on a CVM, I ran ncc --set_email_frequency=4 and saw that it took successfully. Finally, running ncc --show_email_config but gettting result Value for the flag --show_email_config has not been set. Obviously I am missing something?
Hello, We would like to validate some design aspects. Our environment is based on DELL XC630 & XC730, Nutanix 4.6.4 ( in the future 4.7) and EXi 6.0 u2. As for administration perspective, we need to affect an administration subnet IP to the IPMI interface. The CVM needs to be in a production subnet. There is no routing from production to administration subnet. Is it possible to deploy 2 network cards on the CVM for the CVM to communicate with IPMI interfaces ? Is that a validated and supported design by Nutanix. Thanks in advance for your answers.
A rather simple question :) Once the NFS Datastore has been presented to the nodes, each node shows the NFS Datastore and the Local disk as available storage. My question is, how do others deal with this scenario? What is to stop an admin from storing data to the local data store as opposed to the NFS data store which is where you want them to store their VM's? Curious how others have dealt with this. Thanks, Sky
I would like to know the reason why Nutanix Express not able to replicate to Standard Nutanix series? Kindly advise please.
Hello - Trying to upgrade via one-click upgrade in Prism from 4.0.2.2 to 4.0.3. Even though I have "Enable Automatic Download" enabled it does not show 4.0.3 as "available compatible version." However, I have another identical cluster which shows 4.0.3 as available. Anything I am missing to make sure Prism auto downloads the latest NOS from Nutanix? Thanks.
just wondering the following:Everywhere you look it shows nutanix configuration of 2 or 4 SSD with the rest being HDD. With the advance of having all flash nodes on every model, is there anything stopping us having lets's say 6 SSD and 4 HDD? Or 5 of each in a node supporting 10 Disks?Does the Pro License also enable us to pin VM or part of it to SSD?
Hello's I have an existing VMware install using a storage array. I have a three node Nutanix cluster that i'll be migrating to. I've read through some of the solutions offered and i have an additional question. When i migrate my VM's using vmotion from the legacy platform, do i have to make a decision to which host on the Nutanix side the VM will reside and if so, do i have to think about balancing out my VM's across the three hosts? Thanks all for your time, Sky.
after launching the foundation applet I could only see two nodes instead of three, i logged into the cvm on which i configured my IP address. On restart, the httpd service failed. I presume this is why the applet could not add that node. please any suggestions as I am onsite
Hi,i have a problem with vMotion between ESXi host on Nutanix box.The problem occurred while migradt host.
While trying to add a new node to my cluster where I need to re-image before adding to the cluster, the iso_whitelist.json in the foundations downloads page appears to be broke, just redirect back to the support portal. appologies if this is the wrong place to rais the issue Regards, Stephen
Hi, we have installed a 4 node Nutanix cluster. In the installation process you have to select the cluster redundancy factor, RF2 or RF3. We tried to select RF3 but the system says that you need at least 5 nodes. So we were forced to create the cluster with RF2. In the future we plan to extend the cluster with additional nodes, may be only storage nodes. Will it be possible to upgrade from RF2 to RF3 without having to delete the existing cluster and create a new one? Stefano
Hi, Just wanted to find out if AFS is included in all version including Express and Starter Editions ? If yes, are they limited in some one when compared to the higher end versions ? Thanks G
hi must try to get advice.... I will buy NX-3360-G5... 3 node... 1) if one node failure(power off), we still have two nodes for data writing?2) if one node failure(power off), what happens?3) Node 1 Service does failover to the other node? it is possible? i think it will result in Zookeeper Failure. Because will not satisfy quorum rule.
Hi Folks, I`m installing a new also my first AHV(latest version installer-el6.nutanix.20160601.20,with latest AOS4.7.1). I`m new to KVM,as well as AHV. So some problems met, tough time these days. Any help would be highly appreciated, thanks in advance. 4) centos 4.7 guest vm also the guide 《AMF_Guide-AOS_v4_7》 says only support CentOS 6.4, 6.5, 6.6, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2 Is there a support matrix for all the vm guest type ? 7) kvm vm mgmt via Prism there`s too little function for manaing ahv hypervisor and guest vm via prism(it seems only basic vm life-cycle mgmt). Can I add usb device, make an ovf template like vmware vcenter ? I`m not such familiar with virsh, ovs cli tool
How would I migrate VM's from an existing vSphere 5 cluster to a new Nutanix Block running vSphere 6? Would this work: Add the existing vSphere 5.0 hosts to the new Nutanix vCenter as a seperate Cluster Ensure the vMotion network on Nutanix is the same as the existing hosts and thet can talk Upgrade the existing vSphere 5.0 hosts to 5.1 vMotion using the web client to Nutanix Hosts and Nutanix storage Or is there another method?
Hey all! Just got my 3 node monster Nutanix box up and running and LOVE it! Quick theoretical question though: I blew through my budget on this box, and would LOVE to have a DR setup somewhere else in the building (to combat fire, flood, earthquake, etc.) Could I take some spare hardware lying around, and as long as it meets the specs needed, install the CE version, and make that the DR for my existing paid for version of Nutanix? I've gotten mixed answers from various people is why I ask. Thanks in advance!
I am a bit confused. On the Nutanix support portal, in the Downloads section for Phoenix, it say's, "Phoenix is a tool used to install the Nutanix Controller VM and provision a hypervisor on a new or replacement node in the field. You can download a Phoenix ISO file from this page. Each Phoenix ISO file is for a specific hypervisor and Acropolis base software (NOS) release." But then when filtering, it shows Phoenix versions 2.1.1.1 to 3.0.4 are for Hypervisor "All". And then Phoenix version 2.0.4 has seperate downloads specificlly for KVM, HyperV, or ESXi, depending on which Hypervisor your are deploying. Which Phoenix download are you supposed to use if wanting to deploy an ESXi 5.x or 6.x Hypervisor on the nodes in the field?
Hi, Next and friend I have question about HDD on Nutanix-cluster NX-1465.How many HDD can fail when cluster start.
