Dear All ,I would like to know if the Nutanix appliance coming with preinstalled ESXI 5.5 nodes or not. If not ,so do nutanix has its own customized image(iso) of vsphere esxi to be used? Can I boot the installation file directly from CD or usb to install esxi on nodes? Regards, Rami
We are in the process of identifyng datacenter requirements for our Nutanix installation. One statement I recently heard was that the 1 gig ports for the nodes were primarily to address security concerns and that the 10 gig ports would satisfy most customers. Is this true? Are there any other downside issues to not using the 1 gig ports?
Hello, is there a NOS Hardening Guide available? two specific questions: is there a Firewall running on the CVM? can I install my own ssl certificate? thx and best regards Manfred
Hello - I am going through the NPP 4.x tutorial and I was wondering if someone can explain to me vDisks in the context below. I guess I don't fully understand what vDisks are. (Copied from the tutorial): "If user data for VDI is kept on a vDisk that is attached to the end-user VM, you can store the user data vDisks on a compressed container and the VM vDisks on an uncompressed container." Thanks in advance.
Hello - Does anyone know if there is an IPMItool command to set the interface to 100MB full duplex? Is this option to change it even available? We are having some IPMI issue where connectivity drops every so often. We are working with networking to check their side, and we've done various things to test/isolate the issue. On the network switch side, the ports have been configured to 100MB from 1GgE. One suggestion that came up from networking is to set the IPMI interface to 100MB full duplex. Thank you. RV
Hello - I am studying for the NPP exam and the online guide talks about Foundation and Phoenix. Does anyone know if these utilities are available for download to customers? Thanks! RV
It looks like my CVM's running 4.0.1.1 are vulnerable to the now hyped-up CVE-2014-6271. What is the official Nutanix stance on remediating the vulnerability - should I wait for an NOS hotfix or can I pull down the relevant CentOS patch?
Hi guys, I'm designing a Nutanix infrastructure, and I'm struggling with the most optimal configuration given the specs Specs: - 2 sites (80 km apart, latency
I am trying to create a Protection Domain, but can't figure out how to supply the name of the Protection Domain. I have to use a string and a JSON object as body parameter, but it keeps throwing errors. JSON objects I have tried: {"name":"MyTestName"} {"body":"MyTestName"} {"input":"MyTestName"}
Hello All, One of our customers decided to have Vmotion and ESXi MGMT on different VLANS and they will split the 10G connections. So for this kind of setup, which VLAN should CVM be in? Do you have any recommendations? Thank you so much...
I am experimenting with the Protection Domain Cmdlets and trying to use New-NTNXProtectionDomain. I am running into some issues and I hope there is someone around to point me in the right direction. New-NTNXProtectionDomain prints "protectionDomainName cannot be null" when I run it without any parameters, but the parameter protectionDomainName doesn't seem to exist. New-NTNXProtectionDomainprotectionDomainName cannot be null The help doesn't show how to use the Cmdlet: Get-Help New-NTNXProtectionDomain -fullNAMENew-NTNXProtectionDomainSYNOPSISAdd a Protection Domain.SYNTAXDESCRIPTIONPARAMETERSThis cmdlet supports the common parameters: Verbose, Debug,ErrorAction, ErrorVariable, WarningAction, WarningVariable,OutBuffer, PipelineVariable, and OutVariable. should "diagnostics.py run" script run without issue with this hypervisor? Seems like fails with creating container for this testing? Or has this been verified to run without issue on Hyper-V and NOS 4?
Found installation guide like this ones http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/partners/nutanix/VMware-view-nutanix-best-practices.pdf https://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/partners/nutanix/VMware-view-nutanix-reference-architecture.pdf During installation i see : VCAI: Check Use native NFS snapshots (VAAI) Host Caching Enabled, digest re-computation scheduled for off-work hours (M-F / 9-5) But on VMware site http://pubs.vmware.com/view-52/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.vmware.view.administration.doc%2FGUID-61ABF143-EE88-4688-AD84-056EBD0B918B.html Native NFS snapshot technology (VAAI) is not supported in pools that are enabled for View Storage Accelerator or virtual machine disk space reclamation. What settings should i use?
Has anyone toyed around with the Upgrade software module in the 4.0 GUI? I'm looking to upgrade to 4.0.1 using the GUI. The two query boxes need both the NOS Metadata File and the NOS Binaries. I was able to download the 4.0.1 .tar file from the support portal but I can't seem to find the Metadata File associated with it.
