There is an option to have the Storage widget turn yellow when the cluster reached a warning threshold of resilient capacity. This feature does not appear to trigger an alert in Prism Elements. Are there any options to make this trigger an alert or are there options to alert on the resilient capacity of the cluster? Managing the capacity based on anything else creates more management overhead when each cluster has to have the capacity calculated individually and the thresholds set/reset with cluster changes. Since this widget is already doing the calculation it seems redundant to have to edit the storage pool alerts on every cluster. This is an example of the Storage Widget with the warning triggered. But the storage pool has not triggered an alert based on these numbers because it doesn’t take into consideration the resilient capacity.
Hello guys,We are considering upgrading the existing Nutanix cluster environment to meet high reliability protection for critical applications.Currently we have a site A as the production cluster and site B as the disaster recovery cluster. The sites on both sides use Leap to provide a data protection strategy with an RPO 15 Mins. All sites' virtualization systems are using AHV.Now we plan to build a new site C, and do real-time synchronous data transmission with site A.Site A and Site C will be deployed in the same building. At the same time, it is hoped to ensure that the failure of either site A or site C will not cause data loss or service interruption. We hope to use Nutanix's data synchronization solution. However, we found that once the VM uses Leap to configure the real-time synchronization policy, the original Leap asynchronous transmission policy cannot be applied. It appears that only one Leap protection policy can be applied to the same VM.Therefore, based on the above situation
When a cluster goes down due to a power failure, the VMs power back up when the hosts come back online. Is there any way to control this and create a boot order for those VMs?
We have migrated a few Windows 2003 server VMs running on Nx / ESX to a new AHV cluster but in one of them after 3-4 hours the principal guest VM NIC stops responding and the VM has to be rebooted. We have tried deleting and adding the NIC manually with the same result so we had to roll back and boot that specific VM on the old Nutanix / ESX cluster. We plan to upgrade Fedora drivers to latest instead of stable and maybe change some network registry settings according to W2k3 best practices. Has anyone experienced this before? Any advice will be welcome.
Hello guys,I’ve been meaning to take a look at the Hybrid Cloud reference architecture PDF but it’s been unavailable for months:https://www.nutanix.com/viewer?type=pdf&path=/content/dam/nutanix/resources/misc/private-cloud-reference-architecture-tech-note.pdfDoes anyone have an idea where I could get it?Thank you
How to Get Total vCPU count details from a cluster?
With the proliferation of ARM64 servers upwards of 96 to 128 cores per socket, when can we expect a Nutanix AHV focused on ARM64? RedHat and other vendors have already hopped on the bandwagon.
We bought several Nutanix clusters in 2019 and on two of them, we deployed a cloud connect appliance in AWS via Prism element so that we could backup our VMs to the cloud. We setup retention to 7 snaps locally and 62 on the remote (AWS) side. The question I have for everyone that uses Cloud Connect for backups is, does the S3 bucket that gets created by Cloud Connect ever stop growing in size. On our HQ Nutanix cluster, that Cloud Connect S3 bucket is currently sitting at 164TB and 177 million objects. This is a small 3 node cluster with only 10 VMs being backed up to the Cloud Connect appliance. Current allocated space for those VMs is 3TB. Actual consumed by them as reported by Prism is about half of that. Looking at the S3 bucket created by cloud connect, I see that a lifecycle rule was created to move objects to infrequent access after 30 days. I see nothing to expire old objects and there are objects in the bucket dating all the way back to 2019. So at first glance, it doesn’t loo
Hello Everyone,I am trying to deploy NC2 on azure but , I need to Add cloud account .Everytime I gave all the correct information of azure like, Directory ID , Subscription ID, Application ID, and secret value it gave error “Azure credentials are not valid.” How to resolve it .Please Help.Best Regards ,Rajesh Kumar

Hello Experts,I hope you are doing will,Can you please assist in providing a document or an explanation regarding the ramifications from switching between AOS LTS and AOS STS releases -if its possible - ? so far I have seen threads talking about switching from LTS to STS only. BRAdel
What is the Best way to Delete Old Snapshots of VMs autmatically?
HiI have a question about VM snapshots. I dont think this is possible otherwise I’m sure it would be obvious in PE or PC but I’ll ask anyway:Can we snapshot the VM’s active memory? i.e. include the active OS memory in the snapshot, the equivalent of ESXI’s .vmem fileI’ve read up on crash vs application consistent snapshots but I dont see a mention of capturing the OS memoryThanks
Hello,There is a way to enable and configure IPFIX exporter to an external servicewhich is not Application Discovery service ?
Guys, Aim building a Nutanix resume ,please share with me if anyone has, will be grateful for that RegardsRabbani
Hi guys, I have 3 node 1065 G7 cluster 5.20 and planning to upgrade to 6.5.1.6. Post I am adding 1065 G8 to the existing. Is there any issues if I image the 1065 G8 to 5.20 then add it to the cluster and upgrade all together tp 6.5.1.6?
Hi,I followed instructions to migrate a Windows 2013 server from ESX to AHV successfully according using Nx MOVE to https://www.vmwaremine.com/2019/01/24/migrate-windows-2003-x86-to-nutanix-ahv/#sthash.8hpeCflP.T3i44mTW.dpbs, it works great by the way. Now… In the process SCSI disks are cloned to IDE and the Windows 2013 SCSI controller is not recognized. In this scenario, Is it possible to reconvert those disks back to SCSI? I guess I need to get the driver first (Fedora?) and follow available procedure to reconvert, Has anyone done this? Thanks!
I am posting this as a general FYI in case others encounter this issue and are looking for a work around. Additionally, I am making this more Nutanix specific.I recently created a base image for Windows Server 2022 Standard. I started with a small C Drive, 100GB.When I cloned it for my first production server and I went to expand the C Drive, the default partition scheme that Server 2022 installs with, places the Windows recovery partition AFTER the primary partition. The result is an inability to expand the C Drive partition through Disk Management.Preface: I mention these because many online forums suggested these as solutions.I understood that I could simply delete the recovery partition. For various reasons I did not want to. I understand it is best practice to install most applications etc. onto another drive. In this instance I did not want to. I understand that there are 3rd party applications that I can use to manipulate the partitions. I did not want to.Solution: Overall you n
Hey Guys,I have a 3 node cluster. I am planning to add a new node to the existing. Since I already have a cluster, once I rack mounted and connected the cables to the nodes should I go for foundation for node setup or can I use expand cluster option?
The setup is a cluster with 3 hosts. The cluster is up and running. However, the VMs connected to one of the hosts are not able to access the internet or other VMs on the network. If any of the affected VM is migrated to another host in the cluster, then it will be able to access the internet or other VMs on the network.Once it is returned to the faulty host, the connectivity problem will persist again.
Hi. So our nutanix system is arriving in a few days, it’s now in the country. I’m going onsite in mid January to set it up where do I begin. We are going to be using Acropolis (excuse the spelling if wrong). From what I gather i’m just going to have rather a lot of boxes around 95kg in total, I guess once i’ve worked out how to put the hardware together where the heck do i begin getting acropolis installed on it all, I possibly just missed it but was expecting an easier Idiots guide this is where you start with your new system. We are going to be setting up various windows servers when we get to that stage. I’m ok with VMWare but never used Nutanix before. I might be in the wrong forum dumped it in AHV Virtualisation as i’m assuming that’s Acropolis. That’s how new I am :) Cheers EDIT: Only just thought i guess i should wait till i see the kit it might come with a start here guide.
Planning for moving from VMware to Nutanix CE. I have 3 NUC,Skull Canyon Hades Canyon . Wall Street CanyonPlanning to populate 2x1TB ssd to each of the NUC. Before dumping money in to populate my NUCs with SSDs, i would like to check if there are any potential problem to setup a 3 host cluster with 3 different CPU architecture?
A customer would like to run Microsoft Windows Server DataCenter 2022 in an AHV environment and we are looking at licensing for this. We want DataCenter cause of unlimited VM’s. We have recently heard that this has changed in the past year and only retail or perpetual licensing can run on Hyper-V and you can not run on AHV or Vmware anymore. This is because it needs the host to communicate with some licensing portal. So we have to purchase Open Value with SA for running AHV which is considerably more money and have to pay on a yearly subscription. They gave us this description. Windows Server 2022 Datacenter 2-Core License + SA (3 Yr)SKU: 9EA-00643Open Value with Software Assurance (3 Years)(3) 24-Core Hosts & Unlimited VMSNutanix HypervisorFulfilled with MAK/KMS LicenseDowngrade Rights to 2019 & 2016 Can anyone confirm this?If true this is crap and Microsoft is pushing their stupid hypervisor.
Stop the Man in the Middle Attacks.Whether you're replicating to the cloud or to a remote branch site you may not control the networking stack and to end. When you don't control the networking stack end to end or you're in an environment that simply doesn't have a firewall you can use Nutanix Native DR encryption between your Nutanix clusters. The feature is fully supported for both PD and Nutanix DR(PC) based replication.Changes will persistent after reboots of the CVMs and upon upgrades.AOS needs to be on 6.1 or higher.DR with Encryption will use 14119,14108 as additional ports that need to open bi-directional when all of the CVMS. *** Note you need to run the below steps on each cluster. To enable this featureSSH to the CVM Change the folder to bin - all the python commands need to ran from the bin directory cd bin Run the script. For PD based Replication python onwire_encryption_tool.py --enable <remote_cluster_vip> For PC/Nutanix DR Replication Enure your Prism Centrals
