Try to apply an upgrade from a Windows server 2012 R2 to Windows 2019 using Microsoft ISO image, but always fails to show this message: Has anyone managed to upgrade from Windows server 2012 R2 to Windows server 2019?I would appreciate some help about the subject. Thanks in advance. Manuel.
New to AHV, just installed this week. I have using VMware since version 2.5. Trying to deploy AHV Windows VMs from template and from AHV VMs. On both methods I get guest customization options using sysprep. I have been choosing “Guided Script” and filling out the fields for User Name, Password, Local, and Host Name. I leave the license key blank becasue we have enterpise licesing which is assigned when teh VM is joined to the domain. So far, evertime I have tried the host name does not get updated to match the Host Name I entered for the guided script. Also, in VMware guest customization you put what you want the password to be after sysprep. Fr this one is it asking for the current Administrator User/Password, or one to be updated or created by sysprep?
Hi,I have a VM that the network is not working, so we will make another VM.The problem is that we need one folder storaged in the disk. Can we download this folder?I know that in VMWare you can go to the disk and copy the folder in the Hypervisor. Has Nutnix this function?Best regards,Eneko.
We have a (older) Windows 2012 R2 VM with a OS Disk and a Data Disk (scsi.0 and scsi.1 respectively) running on AHV / AOS 5.20.4.6 LTSThe data disk (scsi.1) was originally created with 4kb allocation unit size (no NTFS disk compression is utilized) and this disk has reached it’s maximum size under NTFS of 16TiB. It’s also 96% full… 😟The custom application is such that mount points won’t work. It was suggested to see if perhaps Acronis Disk Director could safely change the drive’s allocation unit size from 4k to 64k (and preserve the data). To my knowledge formatting a drive is the only way to accomplish allocation unit size changes...Is changing the allocation unit a supported operation?Has anyone successfully made such a change?
Hello Guys, I have a scenario where the current nutanix environment NX-1065-G7 AOS version is 5.20 LTS and AHV version is 20201105.2030 and we are adding new node NX-1065N-G8 to the cluster. My plan is to upgrade foundation and NCC of the cluster to latest version and then image the new node with AOS and AHV version the same as in the current nutanix environment. What are the caution points I need to be aware while configuring the node and adding to the cluster?what are the risk factors involved?
Hello All, I have added a managed network in our cluster. We have since purchased another cluster and in the process of configuring VXLan and the ability to live migrate VM’s between clusters. From what I have been seeing we cannot have a managed network across clusters is this correct? If not does anyone know how to configure a managed network to work between clusters. Thanks,Scott
We automate the creation of new VMs in our AHV cluster using RestAPI calls and JSON provided VM specification (generated by script etc). Nowhere in our provided JSON do we specify the storage container that vdisks should be created in, but all new VMs have their storage allocated inside ‘SelfServiceContainer’. Wondering if SelfServiceContainer is somehow configured as a default inside AOS - as I would like to change this to a different container if such a config exists? Now I know that I can specify the storage container inside the JSON I provide for each VM creation (and this might be the only way I achieve this), but I am trying to understand if there is someway of configuring a default storage container inside AOS?Thanks in advance, Paul
Scenario:2 server rooms 1km apart with direct fiber connection. One 10 node/rack in each server room. What would make most sense?1. Create two clusters with sync rep.2. Create one cluster with rack fault tolerance (one rack in each server room) /Peter
Hi there, we are new to Nutanix AHV and have one Question regarding the Snapshot feature. Is there a way to create and recover a snapshot like on VMware? I mean without having any downtime of the VM when restoring it, like in VMware?
PE-PC Connection FailureHello, I have an alert on Nutanix PE-PC Connection Failure Description: The remote {remote_vm_type} {cluster_ip} is unreachable. I would like some support to correct this alert. Thanks in advance.
Hello, warriors of the digital ageCould you help a beginner in trouble? https://next.nutanix.com/discussion-forum-14/snap-shot-delete-but-have-a-large-capacity-41093 https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/kbs/details?targetId=kA03200000098CQCAY A few days ago, I asked about the capacity increase due to snapshots, and I was told that curation would return to normal in about 36 hoursHowever, when I checked, I realized that the capacity was not reducedIf the capacity is the same, open the case and get support from Nutanix's SREThe customer's contract has expired, so we can't get supportWhat should we do to reduce capacity? Where should I look?I would appreciate it if you could answer this question
I have two clusters managed by a vCenter Server Appliance (v7.0). One of those clusters is a Nutanix cluster. All hosts in all clusters are running ESXi 6.5. There is no storage shared between the clusters. What is the best and easiest way to migrate the vCenter Appliance to the Nutanix cluster. I’m already configured to move other VMs using Enhanced Shared-Nothing vMotion and that is working fine. Can I use the same method to live migrate the vCenter Appliance to the Nutanix cluster? If possible to live migrate, should I set DRS to manual and disable HA on all clusters before live migrating the vCenter Appliance?
I want to be able to export a VM in OVA format from powershell. I suppose any script or command line function would work, but I want to automate the process. We have a large fileserver VM with millions of very small files. Backing up that many files is taking longer than we would like, so we ideally want to just export the VM on a daily basis and have the backup done that way. It should be faster to do that than to have a backup process handle millions of tiny files, the overhead is just too much.I already have a script that will clone the VM and delete the VM, I just need the middle part to export the VM out of Nutanix to have that backup copy. If I can’t get the full VM as I would prefer, I could tolerate having copies of the VM disks copied out as an automated process, to recreate the VM at a later date. This backup copy will only be for extreme emergencies, we already have snapshots of the VM and replicas at our remote site, but for auditing purposes we need a copy of the dat
i wants to Migrate VMs from AHV cluster to AHV Cluster, my Source AHV Cluster running on AOS 5.20.0.1 LTS and destination cluster running on 5.20.3.5 LTS, so can configure Data protection and migrate VMs from source ahv cluster to destination ahv cluster with mismatch AOS version.?
Currently, the Nutanix cluster consists of three nodes. The Prime Element has 90% Cluster Memory usage.Data Resilience Status is indicated by "OK". I'm trying to add more memory to the node in this environment. If you change a node to maintenance mode for memory DIMM expansion, the VMs on that node will be migrated to another node. The average usage rate of re-memory is over 90%, will the migration be successful? The Fault Tolerable of Data Resilience is all "1"... I don't know for sure. I wonder if live migration is possible in this environment, and if not, do I need more nodes or downtime?
I have a requirement to deploy configuration server in Nutanix cloud for DR scenario, Azure provides OVF template to deploy this server. But as nutanix doesn’t support OVF format i have extracted OVA file to .vmdk files and created disks with it. Created a new VM and attached these disks to it. But facing VM Boot up issues. Any walkthrough for deploying VM using OVA/OVF files.
CVM running but no route to host, installed in vmware workstation, advanced ip scanner indicated cvm is up but not running
Hello,Is it possible to install OTP modules or agents on CVM/AHV? Is it possible to get OTP certification when logging in to CVM/AHV ssh? After installing the OTP agent on the Guest VM, is OTP authentication possible when login to the VM ssh?Thank you.
Hello,I’m using Commvault to back up our Nutanix file server cluster. I have a distributed share that is failing with the following error:4788 26ec 07/19 16:25:38 271 CTREE rebuild failed with error 652 (duplicate keys rejected and listed); sysiocod=0 4788 26ec 07/19 16:25:38 271 CTREE resumeAndRebuild: unable to rebuild indexAny ideas?
Hello all experts,I have some question about create/revert snapshot/recovery point of VM in AHV cluster:Can user (have permission to access cluster portal to clone VM, create recovery point) access and create recovery point by themselves? Can they revert/restore the snapshot/recovery point by them-self (the same as Hyper-V)? What if they request to do by themselves, what I need to do? Now I have admin permission but cannot revert, just can clone VM from recovery point.Thank you so much
I need to monitor Nutanix replication and one of the metrics is not having unprotected vms.Is there any way to list these VMs with nCLI or another command?
I hate to duplicate questions, but the original was closed and I have yet to see an answer. Is it possible to schedule automated reboots/shutdowns with an AHV? Similar to what you can do in VMware vSphere with Scheduled Tasks: How to schedule a VM power state with AHV
I have started to code this but thought maybe someone might have already completed this. My issue is I have a windows server in AHV with 10 disk drives. When I get a call from my windows team to expand a drive they will give me the drive letter. However I cannot use that to map back to Nutanix AHV. So outside of coding a tool that will map these 2 systems is there a way to correlate what drive is what? I do not want to have to log into a VM every time I get this request if possible.
How to power on the CVM from AHV. It is showing power off prism and power on option is greyed out.
Can I mount NFS to store nutanix snapshot files? If so, how can I find the location of snapshot files.
