Does AHV support VM affinity rules in 4.7.3?
Hi, I am new to Nutanix so would appreciate a bit of advice on importing a cluster into System Center Virtual Machine Manager. I have an existing Nutanix Hyper-V cluster which I want to manage via SCVMM. Has anyone got any advice in importing this into SCVMM and anything I should be aware of? Also, has anyone converted Standard switches to logical switches once the cluster has been imported or is that not a good idea? Thanks!
I have this same error on 3 nodes - I have checked networking / Time and connectivity and it all seems ok. Running ncc health checks on different services gives me a range of things to check. Not sure where to start with this. The Hosts are Hyper-V.
Where can download foundation 3.4 ? Thanks in advance
I've this error on the Prism Console: genesis is down on controller VM 10.1.82.21 I've run the command ncc health_checks system_checks cluster_status_check --cvm_list=10.1.82.21 and this is the error log:2016-11-10 00:16:00 INFO salt_helper.py:52 Verifying CVM salt states 2016-11-10 00:16:00 ERROR command.py:156 Failed to execute sudo /bin/ls /home/saltstates: [Errno 12] Cannot allocate memory 2016-11-10 00:16:00 CRITICAL decorators.py:46 Traceback (most recent call last): File "/home/hudsonb/workspace/workspace/User_builds/builds/build-danube-4.7.1-stable-release/python-tree/bdist.linux-x86_64/egg/util/misc/decorators.py", line 40, in wrapper File "/home/hudsonb/workspace/workspace/User_builds/builds/build-danube-4.7.1-stable-release/python-tree/bdist.linux-x86_64/egg/cluster/genesis/node_manager.py", line 2474, in sync_configuration_thr File "/home/hudsonb/workspace/workspace/User_builds/builds/build-danube-4.7.1-stable-release/python-tree/bdist.linux-x86_64/egg/cluster/genesis/node_
Hi, Are there any best practice recommedations for connecting storage from Dell Compellent SAN storage to an existing Nutanix deployment? Thanks
Hello Guys, I got a new environment to take care of and need some help here. Setup is based on Nutanix 3 Nodes with Hyper-V cluster. There is requirement to use Veeam BR as backup solution. All veeam components has to be virtualized i.e., Backup server, Proxy Server, Repository and Tape Server if required. Backup destination is a Tape library which can be connected via FC. Documents that I read "veeam on Nutanix with Hyper-V" mentions about hybrid scenario, where Physical repository server can be used to connect tape library. In my case there is no physical server available. What can be possible ways to get this done? 1. Is it mandatory to use a physical server to connect to tape? 2. Can an HBA installed in NTNX Node be used by a VM on Hyper-V (pass-through)? 3. Can I designate Hyper-V parent OS as Veeam Proxy and Tape server and use HBA directly from parent-OS? How about the compatibility/support in these configuration? If you guys have any other way to get this running, pleas
I know it's trivial via the ncli but I had to look it up. Timezone configuration via the Prism UI would make sense...
Hi All, We are about to secure our first Nutanix Deal (in our region) - our existing customer have a vsphere environment with 35 Virtual Machines (Exchange / AD / SQL / Oracle DB) - they are willing to go AHV. After setting up the first block - what would be the best way to migrate all virtual machines from existing vspehre cluster? Existing vSphere cluster is using VMFS data stores off their existing SAN. will be grateful for your suggestions / insights / best approach towards this. Kind regards
Hi all - we have HUGE problems in Denmark with setting the correct Daylight savings in AHV A clock / time settings apprently not just an option in AHV.. We found that we neede to set this in Windows guests to get the clock correct - otherwise it was 2 hours wrong reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetControlTimeZoneInformation" /v RealTimeIsUniversal /d 1 /t REG_DWORD /f Now when we have shifted to winter time CET instead of CEST and we shutdown the VM's the clock is 1 hour wrong!! What is the 100% correct way to handle time on AHV? I have never had issues on VMware, HyperV or Xen with this basic stuff.. 😞 If anyone could lead me to a KB or something about this issue?
We recently had multiple Nutanix Blocks installed and I have started configuring them for Active Directory Authentication; however, logging on using AD Accounts is super slow and takes several minutes to logon. I have configured the Authentication to IP Addresses, FQDN's and DOMAIN but all are still unacceptably slow. ldap://192.168.1.1:389 ldap://server.domain.org:389 ldap://domain.org:389 For the Prism Role mapping, I have configured AD Groups and Single Users and the logon is still super slow. There was a post about change recursive authentication to be off; however, there was no command string associated with NCLI. Anyone experiencing this issue? Would like to know the best practice for configuration AD Authentication. Thanks for any assistance... David
I need to change the IPMI IP Address on 2 Nodes of a 4 Node Dell XC Block. I know how to change the IP from the iDRAC Console; however, how do I get it to update the Nutanix Node? I read through the Admin Manual; however, I could not find anything related to changing the IPMI IP Address. Thanks,David
Hi I would like to know where to download NOS phoenix for DELL XC ? I manage to install hypervisor ESXi but unable to find download for NOS phoenix for DELL XC? Is there a specific ? Kindy advise. Compatible NOS?
I have a demo Nutanix NX-1020 with three nodes sitting on a bench in a lab environment. Each node is connected to a private 1G 8 port unmanaged switch (Netgear ProSAFE). Six ports are used for metadata traffic using a 10.0.0.xxx subnet. One port is connected to a wall port to access my companies network. I plug my laptop into the eighth port switch. 10.0.0.20-22 - CVM IPs 10.0.0.30-32 - AHV IPs 10.0.0.50 - Cluster IP I have one VM created with dual NICs. The internal NIC has 10.0.0.101 and the external NIC has 172.21.35.23 with the Subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and the gateway of 172.21.35.1, but I cannot get access to the company network.
Hello Nutanix I am currently in progress of deployment of Acropolis File Services (AFS) Everything has been going well until the "Can't contact LDAP Server" error occured I have given it a check by viewing some configuration on NVM and found out that although on Prism, they have been assigned with 2 IPs but actually running with only 1 IP when checked via console by ifconfig command (eth0 only) Let me make it clearer via the "topology" below: CVMs connecting to NVMs by Subnet A IPs Clients, AD and DNS servers should be connected to NVMs by Subnet B IPs Recently, those NVMs are running with only 1 Subnet A IP although on Prism, I saw they have already assign with both Subnets?! My block is running with AOS 4.7.2. I have also given some seaches around and seen that both Internal and External networks could be the same as described in this video?! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-z11wVhBxA Thank you in advanced
I had a WIN VM up and running. But I have uninstalled the NUTANIX GUEST tools and VM MOBILITY tools. Now the VM is broken and I cannot boot. Can you help me to start over ?
My cluster was looking very nice in Prism (as usual) yesterday but I happened to take a look at my NCC summary output and found that Genesis wasn't running on one of my cvm's. I was able to issue a 'genesis start' command and all was good again but I'm kind of curious if I should expect the Genesis service status to be reported up to Prism. I gather that, without Genesis running, the cvm won't play in any of the cluster reindeer games so its running status seem kind of important to me. Am I wrong in this assumption? And if not, is there some way that I can get an alarm should this happen again (other than running/reviewing NCC)? Thanks in advance.
Hello Nutanix Currently, my demo cluster has had problem in removing host from cluster The host that I wanted to remove has an SSD showing status: "Marked for removal but not detachable" and it has been kept by that status for a long time with nothing changed despite that the host was shown up as successfully removed the host So, after that I have tried reinstalling this host but that status still showing up and I cannot do anything with the new reinstalled host as well as expanding the cluster with it By the way, I noted that before reinstalling this host, this host was running as a cluster member
Hi, I use Huawei Switch ce6810-24s2q-li with cable twinAx SFP-10G-CU3M (P/N: Huawei 02310MUP). Is it compatible with nutanix NX1365-G5 10Gb nic? thanks
Can I move any VM from AHV 4.7 to ESX 5.5. is it possible?
Hello Team, i want to convert a physical server to AHV VM,there are any nutanix tool for this . thank you.
Hi, I am new to Nutanix, we just received the demo machine yesterday. I have a question, how to get started up and running with basic stuff. I got the box NX-3450 setup, plugged all the wires, turned on but making loud noise non-stop. I appreciate your help.
Hi all, we're on AOS 4.7.2 with vmware 6.0 upd 2 I was thinking to add a secondary vmknic management interface on all esxi hosts (to be used for backups) doing that just on vmware config without touching anything in cluster config? Thanks a.
Good day Nutants I got a situation that I'd really appreciate your help in resolving After successfully migrating a PD to a remote site and successfully powering on the VM at the remote site, when I attempt to Migrate the PD back to the Main(Prod) Site it fails with error : critical Protection Domain XXXXXXX activate/deactivate failed and cause is listed as "Protection domain cannot be activated or migrated" Any pointers?? This PD has one CG with one VM in it (WIN SERVER 2012 with NGT installed and NGA service is running)
I've been trying to clear out a entry in the nCLI interface on a CVM without luck. tried the standard 'history -c' and 'events history clear'. Basically I have a value I dont want to show up at the propmt is a user is cycling through the "up arrow history" while in ncli. Anyone with the command?
