Hi all!I’m trying to set up an ESXi environment in Nutanix Move but move complains that the user has insufficient access rights, despite the user being assigned the Admin role in vCenter (and on the user level, not on the group level). Insufficient privileges to perform the operation: User 'Move-User' is missing required privileges for 'vcenter.domain.obfuscated': virtualmachine.config.changetracking,virtualmachine.config.editdevice,virtualmachine.guestoperations.query,virtualmachine.provisioning.diskrandomread,virtualmachine.config.annotation,virtualmachine.config.removedisk,virtualmachine.guestoperations.execute,virtualmachine.state.createsnapshot,virtualmachine.state.removesnapshot,virtualmachine.interact.deviceconnection,global.disablemethods,virtualmachine.config.advancedconfig,virtualmachine.guestoperations.modify,virtualmachine.interact.poweroff,virtualmachine.interact.poweron,virtualmachine.config.rawdevice,virtualmachine.config.settings,global.enablemethods,global.licenses,ses

Can we us the metadata usage report by prism central on cluster? Has anyone tried? Or How can I get a similar report? Thank you

Hello, I have installed prism central on cluster (AHV). But no cluster is registered (only prism central is deployed). Now i want to remove prism central. What is a correct way to do this? Thank you in advance. Mindaugas

Hi!We are in the process of migrating our ESXi-vms to Nutanix AHV. Does anyone know if it is a problem to migrate a Witness VM (actually used for two 2-node clusters) to AHV with Nutanix Move or would it be better to install a new one on AHV and switch the clusters over to it?

Hi Tried googling but can’t find anything to support me. Model: NUC7i5DNHE2x SSD (500+250GB SSD)1x _16_ gb Cruizer Fit USB AHV installation works and I create 1 signle node cluster., After rebooting I get SSH/Ping acces to AHV and can loginw with root. Problem:CVM does not answer to ping/wev.Tried SSH / Ping from AHV but does not get an answer: [root@NTNX-eXXXXX-A ~]# ping 10.255.1.11PING 10.255.1.11 (10.255.1.11) 56(84) bytes of data. From 10.255.1.10 icmp_seq=1 Destination Host UnreachableFrom 10.255.1.10 icmp_seq=2 Destination Host UnreachableFrom 10.255.1.10 icmp_seq=3 Destination Host Unreachable I’ve tried re-installing multiple times but same issue. Is the problem the 16Gb cruizer fit usb? I just finished both NCP MCA and ECA and got a certificate, when I downloaded the voucher certificate there is no voucher code in it. It says that “your NCP-MCA vocher code is” but I’m not seeing any voucher code same for the voucher certificate for ECA. Need help on this. Thank you.

NUTANIX documents on upgrading Microsoft OS from 2012 R2 to 2016 reference the need for both the OS ISO file and also the “metadata upgrade JSON file.”  Where do I locate the JSON file? It says the Nutanix support portal but I’m not able to access it there. It also mentions the “Hyper-V ISO file” but it’s unclear what that is referencing? If it is referring to the Server 2016 ISO file there doesn’t appear to be any file like this. Upgrade using ISOs. The Prism web console supports 1-click upgrade (Upgrade Software dialog box) of Hyper-V 2016 or 2019 by using metadata upgrade JSON file. This file is available in the Nutanix Support portal Hypervisor Details page and the Microsoft Hyper-V ISO file.Anyone able to point me to where to get this file so I can perform this needed upgrade?

I have pulled some new nodes into an existing cluster that utilizes LACP/LAG on the current nodes.  The default configuration on the new nodes is Active/Backup.  We also have new ToR switches that are not configured in a LAG.  Are these the correct steps the configure Active/Active?  The new nodes are only participating in the metadata ring - not hosting any VMs:To modify networking on the new nodes:Change the node to LACP enabled (ACTIVE/ACTIVE) using vs0  in the GUI – select only that ONE node to update the config on!! Put node into Maintenance Mode Login to CVM acli host.list acli host.enter_maintenance_mode host-IP-address DO I NEED TO PUT THE CVM IN MAINT MODE AS WELL?? Make changes on ToR switch – enable the 2 ports for LAG for that node ONLY Test networking Remove from Maintenance mode acli host.exit_maintenance_mode host-ip Verify resiliency returns to OK Move onto the next nodeI would love some feedback on if this is the correct order.

Hello everyone,Someone before me in my current job created a couple of VMs in AHV with IDE bus type for their disks instead of SCSI. Just a quick glance of the documentation I found this:AHV does not leverage a traditional storage stack like ESXi or Hyper-V. All disk(s) are passed to the VM(s) as raw SCSI block devices. So my question is, why would someone decide to create IDE disks? Am I missing something? I know it’s common practice for CD-ROM drives, but not storage disks. No wonder I noticed a really bad performance on those servers recently.

Is it possible to live migrate a VM from one AHV cluster to another AHV cluster ? or live migration is only within one AHV cluster ??

Hi all I just want to know how nutanix AHV allocate resource(cpu or memory) to VMs? Like VMware resource share or limit, and memory overcommit?

My vCenter is still in 6.5. Which vCenter 7 version is recommended to work without issues with AOS 5.20.3 LTS ? Thank you for your advice or experience.

I am trying to find configuration information for a Nutanix 3-node chassis, model # NX-3360-G5.  The only documentation I have been able to obtain pertains to 2 or 4 node chassis.  I presume the drive slots designated as node “D” are simply filled with blanking panels but would like some confirmation as such.  Additionally, I would like to know the replacement model number and where available.  Thank you.

I’ve read many wonderful articles and success stories last year when came across .Next conf and getting to know about Nutanix. I’m NCP-MCI certified this year and I’m really looking forward to be part of Nutanix to explore further as full-time. Please share path forward for career in Nutanix!

I recently upgraded my NCP-MCI certification from 5.15 to 5.20, and I’m studying my next NCM-MCI certification. Currently NCM-MCI training is only available on 5.15 version. I’m wondering if there will be a 5.20 version for NCM-MCI soon? Thanks.

I am provisioning a Windows clone VM using API, can you help how to inject the sysperp file in vm_customization_config?

It’s totally available in Prism UI. But I find it impossible with API:In REST API, using PUT /virtual_disks/ “disk_capacity_in_bytes” receives 200 but not size changes. In ncli, using vdisk edit name=<> max-capacity=<> runs, yet the same no changes. Since the VM disk of this Linux VM doesn’t belong to any volume group, not an option for acli the way I see it.And if I do it via VM commands, it’s only able to create new disk or clone disk, not expand which is what I want.I really need an API for this job. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi All,I’ve old hardware NX-3050 currently running AOS 5.10 + ESXi 6.7 U3I need to foundation this node to new version of AOS. But When I check into https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/compatibility-interoperability-matrixThere is no list for NX-3050 any more.

I am trying to import Nutanix Collector (latest available version) excel to sizer. The excel contains a large number of “PoweredOff” virtual machines. I want to make the sizing based on performance figures only for “PoweredOn” virtual machines. If I choose “CPU: performance” I get a warning message:“Data being imported contains one or more VMs that were powered ON during the collection period and reported CPU utilization. We recommend you to size both Powered ON & Powered OFF VMs.” The warning it self doesn’t make much sense. Maybe it should read“Data being imported contains one or more VMs that were powered OFF during the collection period and did not report CPU utilization. We recommend you to size both Powered ON & Powered OFF VMs.” Additionally “Upload” button is grayed out and I cannot proceed with the sizing. IMHO the “Upload” button should not be disabled.

Hi,I have a confusion between the role played by foundation and phoenix, during a LCM firmware upgrade, moreover I am not finding a deep dive article explaining this end to end:1. Once the phoenix iso is created and mounted to the host along with the upgrade bundle, Can phoenix run independently and complete the upgrades or needs help from foundation for performing some tasks like host reboot ?2. During LCM upgrade, since the node undergoing upgrades, will have all VMs powered off including the CVM, will it take help from a remote CVM foundation to orchestrate the upgrades on this host ?3. Putting host in maintenance mode is taken care by LCM or foundation service?4. Can you please give a high level working of the phoenix mechanism, since the hypervisor installer itself is a separate iso, which needs to be mounted, just wondering how phoenix handles multiple iso, does it mount simultaneously with the upgrade iso?

Hi thereI’ve question about difference between configuring bond(port aggregiation) via manage_ovs and ovs_vsctlI wanna to change bond that is in active_backup mode to active_active balance tcpI’ve confused a little bit, what is difference between doing this with manage_ovs and ovs_vsctl

I am aware that in snapshot entity details there is a column that tells you if the recovery status is “Recoverable”, but is this enough to be sure it will work if we use it? Also, what exactly happens if App Consistency is set as False?About recovery time, is it the same for every VM no matter the size of it? Or does it actually depend of how big/small the VM is? If the latter, is it possible to have an estimate recovery time?

We are moving from VMware vSphere 6.0 to Nutanix Cluster AHV (Nutanix is our Hypervisor). The question is previously we could select console in VMware and make a 2nd connection to the VM (Server or workstation) with out somebody previously logged i without logging the 1st user off.   Is the Nutanix Console different than the VMware Console?

I downloaded symantec messaging gateway (brightmail) ova file. I uploaded the vmdk file as an image on my prism. I created a virtual machine and attached the disk. but it is not booting. virtio diriver is not installed., i tried to install it and it is not installed. because brightmail root access is restricted. I never found a way to install it. I talked to symantech support, the result; they said only vmware, hyperv support. I tried many ways; ova, backup/restore.. but without success. I can't run brightmail on ahv. it doesn't boot. I seek help from those who have succeeded in this matter. thank you.

Is it viable to still write NCP-MCI 5.15 certification before the expiry date 11 Feb 2022 ?I have not previously written any NCP-MCI certification.
