This is the scenario I have:We have a four node cluster running Hyper-V. We want to migrate/reload/replace with AHV. There is nothing on this cluster that needs to be preserved.I tried the Foundation Portable application, but it does not seem to discover the nodes. I suspect that is because they are neither bare-metal nor factory imaged at this point. (based on this article - https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Field-Installation-Guide-v4_5:Field-Installation-Guide-v4_5)This is a “retail” cluster, so I do have support. I just don’t know if it’s appropriate to tie up a support engineer for the time it would take to reload a cluster. So I was hoping to at least get started on my own. I did some googling and searching here and the KB. But I suspect my search terms are either too broad or maybe even far too specific. All I get back is how to setup a brand new cluster.
Recently, we upgraded AOS and AHV in a 6-NX-1065-G5 nodes cluster. Those nodes have only 1 Gbps interfaces and the upgrade process got stuck many times while actively moving guest VMS to other nodes when setting each node to maintenance mode. Tech support told us this happened because new AOS and AHV versions were designed to work at 10 Gbps, which we know is a best practice, but a hardware upgrade would be needed in our scenario then.Question: I´m guessing configuring the four uplink interfaces as Balance-SLB bond may help, having a total bandwidth of 4 Gbps in optimal conditions, Has anybody gone through this problem and applied this cure? Was it useful or… Not enough? Thanks in advance
Hello,May I please ask for some help with understanding vStore mapping in Data Protection?Setup: two identical HCI clusters, both run production workloads. A Protection Domain with Async DR is being configured to replicate a subset of VMs from one cluster to another for DR purposes, as well as for migration scenarios. Hypervisor: ESXi.Question: Can vStore mapping be done to a container with live running VMs?In more general view, I consider a scenario where each of the two clusters not only runs its portion of production workloads, but also is the replication target for the other cluster. Should the replication be mandatorily mapped to a separate/dedicated container, or can it go to the same container as the local VMs run from? I.e. how about having a single container for all UVM-s in each cluster, and vStore mapping in each cluster for these two containers?Thank you.
Hello All, How should I provide SMTP Server settings when the mail server is in the cloud (Office365) ?As shown below, I tried with this mail server smtp.office365.com but the “email test” failed : Thanks in advance.
Are you someone with the following condition? Your Nutanix Cluster has grown so much that it needs to be moved to a different (bigger) network segment (VLAN). You are daunted by the amount of changes that moving a cluster to a different network space could result in. Have no fear! The procedures are documented as per the CLUSTER IP ADDRESS CONFIGURATION section of the ACROPOLIS ADVANCED ADMINISTRATION GUIDE. From a high level, the procedures involve some preliminary verifications along with securing some downtime for the cluster (as the changes need to be made while the cluster is in a “stopped” state). From there, it is simply a matter of changing the IPMI and hypervisor IP addresses followed by the execution of a script called “external_ip_reconfig” which handles the procedures for changing the IP addresses of the CVMs. Follow that up with some post verifications and your existing cluster should be successfully running on a new network segment!
Hello,i have three nodes configured with nutanix AHV and in the storage container i am seeing 3 containers but one of the containers is not working i can’t even update the setting for it please it has over 21 tb space and i couldn’t use it so what do i have to do to make it available.
Hi guys, a non technical question about a customization option that I can’t find anywhere. I have two Prism Central used for Synchronous replication. To Identify them at first sight I have customized title and colors of the login page. It was a bit disappointing to not find the customized name on the browser tab or at least on the menu bar title. Even after editing the cluster params to give a name to the PC cluster (only one VM as for now) the name stick on “Prism Central” on the tab and “Prism” on the menu bar.Considering I’m working on a Synchronous replication and that all the objects involved have the same name (Protection Policies, Recovery plans, categories), sometimes i found myself working on the wrong Prism Central. It would be easier to have the PC name always visibile. Any idea? Thanks in advanceil_gianK’ Tab and menu bar title
Upgraded PC to 2020.7 and ncc to 3.10.1. Now getting the warning:Possible CauseThe current feature capabilities of Prism Central require resource on the Prism Central VM to be increased for optimum performance. RecommendationIncrease the resource of the Prism Central VM. Please refer KB-8932 for guidance. I am at 6 vCPU and 32 GB RAM for PC VM. Not getting too far with support. I was wondering if others have seen this issue. The KB article mentions “large” and “small”. I don’t remember setting PC size. How does it know if it is large or small? Mine thinks it is large, but I only have around 200 VMs in 3 Clusters. Only using a single PC, not scaled.
Hello, i have deployed a banch of VM’s on nutanix AHV nodes and now i wanted to access those VMS with my laptop using remote desktop connection but after i have allowed the remote access on the VMs it keep showing me this error.
Hello,I am trying to create a VM of cisco ACI so that the network team can practice on. but while installation it keep showing this error and start the installation from the begining again. i don’t know what did i do wrong please any one can help.
Hello All, I was trying to deploy Nutanix AOS 5.15.1 and HyperV2016 on 03 Lenovo HX-2321 nodes using Foundation 4.5.4.At the first time, the deployment failed with this message : "Fatal running pre-install sanity tests" for each of the 03 nodes. When performing maintenance on a CVM, it is important to not treat it as a regular guest VM. This is because there are crucial services running on each CVM which need to gracefully respond when a CVM goes offline. If you need to shutdown a CVM and are running ESXi, you might otherwise think to simply go to vCenter, right-click on the CVM, and select the “Shut Down Guest OS” option. However, that procedure will not properly shut down the CVM and allow the services to gracefully respond.Instead, in using the cvm_shutdown script, it will first place a necessary HA route in the hypervisor, to redirect storage requests to another CVM, before shutting down the CVM. This will also allow the services to gracefully respond to the CVM being offline.More information and options regarding this script can be found in KB 3270
Did you know that AHV hosts can be accelerated by discrete graphics hardware (similar to how home gaming systems are accelerated)? This is especially useful for environments such as Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) deployments where it is desirable to accelerate individual desktops being shared out to large user communities. The host driver for the discrete graphics hardware can be easily installed on AHV hosts via a single command as executed from just a single CVM of a Nutanix cluster (executing the command from a single CVM will install it across all of the CVMs of the cluster – no need to touch each CVM/host individually). Information regarding this single-command procedure can be found from the INSTALLING NVIDIA GRID VIRTUAL GPU MANAGER (HOST DRIVER) section of the AHV ADMINISTRATION GUIDE.Also, just to note, the host driver can be installed on hosts running an ESX hypervisor using a different procedure. That procedure can be found via the knowledge base article Install NVIDIA

Hello all,I have managed to configure the 3 node cluster with AHV and all of the were working at first but after 2 days one cvm has been down can’t communicate with others.i have tryied to fix it but i couldn’t.both the AHV and host ip does reply for ping but the CVM dosen’t.i have run the NCC and got the log but it only says there is a duplicate ip but when i check for duplicate ip there is no duplicate ip in the configuaration. i have attached the NCC report incase you want to see it. Any help will be greatly appretiated.
Hello, i have a running nutanix 3 node cluster in my environment all is good. the problem is when i create a VM and launch it i the OS starts with without the network adapter i have added 1 Disk and also 1 virtio and also the OS in separate disk configuration. i have the screenshot of the configuration please tell what did i do wrong.
Hello all,Is it possible to install the french version of Windows server 2016 using nutanix foundation ?I wonder this because in the iso whitelist, I only see english versions of windows server 2016 as supported versions.Thanks.

In the process of installing the nx-8235-g7 equipment, the foundation cannot perform IPMI MAC ADDRESS DISCOVERY.When the installation was powered on, it was booted into Phoenix.iso and the IPMI IP setting was possible, so the installation was possible with the foundation. Is there any change in IPMI MAC DISCOVERY method from G7 equipment? And when the equipment is received and powered on, it boots into Phoenix.iso. Can you know what this is?And starting from g7, is the IPMI DEFAULT PASSWORD indicated by a sticker on the back of the device where the ipmi ID/PASSWORD is not ADMIN/ADMIN?
I have a Nutanix Node - Dell XC740xd with 4 Tesla T4 GPUs installed. I am Running AOS 5.15. It seems my GPU is in passthrough mode, and I would like to switch this to vGPU mode. We have a 4 node cluster configured as follows:2 x Lenovo HX1320 (dual 8-core Xeon Silver 4110 CPU @ 2.10 Ghz / 192 GB RAM / 7.11 TB storage) with ESXi2 x Lenovo HX5520-C (single -core Xeon Silver 4110 CPU @ 2.10 Ghz / 64 GB RAM / 35.83 TB) with AHVWe would like to convert the ESXi nodes to AHV. Looking at the knowledge base and the community it seems like doing this would allow all 4 nodes to share the virtual machine load and because the CPUs are the same we should not have to worry about compatibility issues. Is this a correct assumption? Any issues we should watch for?
I wonder if there is any limit on the number of NICs (VLANs) in a guest VM using AHV \ AOS?As well as, what would be the implications of a VM with multiple NICs, for example, over 20 NICs.
Hi All An oddity going on here I have upgraded but I still get an alert say the upgrade is available Info : Bundle el6.nutanix.20170830.395 is available for AHV upgrade. My Cluster Version : el7.3-release-euphrates-5.15-stable-4fbdd4d9de331230bb468b3549f530e80ab53bb9 Any ideas how I can correct (if there is a problem) or check what is going on? Thanks Eric
Phoenix is an ISO-based installer that you can use to perform the following installation tasks on bare-metal hardware one node at a time: Configuring hypervisor settings, virtual switches, and so on after you install a hypervisor on a replacement host boot disk. This option does not require you to include AOS and hypervisor installers in the Phoenix ISO image. Installing the Controller VM, which runs AOS. This option requires you to include the AOS installer in the Phoenix ISO image. Installing the hypervisor on a new or replacement node. This is an alternative to installing the hypervisor by the use of the hypervisor manufacturer's ISO and reduces the two-step procedure—that of first installing the hypervisor and then installing AOS (by the use of the Phoenix ISO image)—to a single-step procedure of installing both software, at once, by the use of only the Phoenix ISO image. However, this option requires you to include the hypervisor ISO image and the AOS installer files in the Ph
I need to upgrade vcenter to 7.0 in my lab, but I can find confirmation that will work with AOS, version 5.15.1.1 LTS.Actual 6.7U3 is installed, and AOS is on ESXI 6.7U3, i can move the hosts later, when will published in the compatibility matrix (dell R640), but I have to upgrade ASAP the vcenter, thanks for the support!
