Find VM UUID when powered off

How can I find out the address of UUID when it is powered off? I need to edit some custom option by command “virsh edit vm_name” before power on.

Upgrading AOS: Compatibility with AHV Version

Currently, my AOS Version is 6.5, Nutanix requires upgrading to AOS 6.5.3, but I want to upgrade to a newer version. How do you know that the upcoming AOS version will not affect the current AHV version?

Migrating Data from Old VM to USB Drive

Hello,We have an old VM that is in our Nutanix cluster. It is running an old version of Windows server, and our Cyber department does not want it connected to the network. There has been a request to retrieve historic data from the server.  Is there a way to boot the server with the network disconnected and use a USB drive connected to the Nutanix host to export the data? If there is no way to do that what other possibilities will work? Can the virtual disk from the old server be mounted on a new network connected VM? Thanks

Hi team,When I try to log into the PRISM web interface, I get the error message "Unable to authenticate. Please contact the Nutanix administrator." This has never happened before. What should I do in this situation?

Cluster not fully starting in CE

SSH login issues with AHV server

Okay, so I am still seeing weird behavior on my AHV server.At present I am unable to log into the console. Let’s say the username password is root:test. It’s not, but let’s say it is. It tells me it’s wrong, try again. Lather rinse repeat.I go to my PC and ssh into the same box, it works. How to upgrade Cache SSD for bigger capacity on AHV cluster

I have a cluster of 7 nodes of which 2 are Lenovo HX3320 with 480GB SSD + 6 2TB HDD and I need to replace the 480GB ones with 3.86TB or larger, due to recent growth in the number of nodes in the cluster. What is the correct procedure to make the change?

Vcenter 6.7u3 installation failed on a nested ESXi on OVH 3 nodes cluster

Hi Teams, I’m trying to install Vcenter 6.7 on a nestred ESX6.7u3 ESXI but i’ve this error.I find it strange because the installation of ESX went without any problemIs there a CLI command to enable this option like in Wokstation Pro ?Thx for your help.

API Token for Nutanix Automation Security

Hello,I’m new to Nutanix, we just started to work with the system and I have a small problem.Unlike VMWare Nutanix doesn’t have PowerShell Module so I’m working directly with the API.My problem is that I want to create automation for set categories and tags based on variables like the disk/VM name etc. I can’t find a way to use a token for security reasons and not send the username and password as Base64 which isn’t secure.

Nested ESXi on AHV Cluster for Testing

I would like to create a nested vSphere environment on a Nutanix cluster for testing move.I downloaded the last ova from Broadcom flying and configured the NIC model to E1000 on VM but when ESXi boots, I’ve always a NIC error.(“ no compatible network adapter found…..”)Help appreciate.Thanks,nested image > Nested_ESXi8.0u3_Appliance_Template_v1.ovaAll AHV platform up to date.

Hi team,I have some confusion kindly give us an clarity, One of my customer planning to deploy vSphere with Nutanix Cluster and what are the advantages to using AHV Nutanix Cluster and Esxi Nutanix Cluster…What are the extra features are there to use vSphere Nutanix Cluster….? why we have to integrate the vCenter with the Prism Element…? what are the advantages..?and what things we have to do in vCenter level after cluster deploying…….. please give an clarity…….

here i would like to share the issue which i face related to memory . and action taken to fix it . open support case with and shared NCC logs  IPMI page of affected host. Click on Server Health -> Health Event Logs. Click on ALL EVENTS in log category, select ALL SEVERITIES and click SAVE (shared logs with support) idetified memory module  support engineer raise the part replacement order  replace the part with the help of onsite engineer  run NCC and all well

Windows VM does not detect local vdisk

Hello Team. <issue summary>Windows server 2016 VM was restored after async DR to another cluster. If I check through Prism or CVM acli, the local vdisk looks normal in the list.However, some local vDisks are not recognized inside Windows OS.The disks are not identified in "Create and Format Hard Disk Partitions" at all.The weird thing is that other local vdisk looks normal.VG attached in DAS way looks normal vdisk.async DR was performed from AOS 5.20.5 to AOS 6.5.5.5. <Current Environment>- AOS 6.5.5.5- OS : Windows Server 2016 Standard- VirtIO : 1.2.3- vdisk bus : scsi If you restore it from the AS-IS cluster and check it, the local vdisk looks normal on the OS.In a TO-BE cluster, some local v disks are not recognized by the OS.Has anyone had a similar experience?If you have any, please tell me about the solution or cause. Thank you.

NCI cluster with Cisco UCS domain-mode deployment.

Hi Team,We are trying to deploy NCI cluster and env is Cisco C series M7 connected fabric interconnect, UCS domain mode deployment. Nutanix AOS/AHV- 6.5.5.7 version. 1. Looking for information on how many MAC pool required . As the document says to create a default MAC pool and unique MAC pool. is it 2 pool required.2. Normally there will be separate MAC pool for each FI /Fabric interconnect which will be used for server based on connection. For instance, server A has 2 NIC and 1Each connected to FIA and FIB. Both NIC cards will get MAC ID from deferent pool. In Foundation only one MAC pool can be used and that should be default MAC pool. do we have create 3 Mac pool default , MAC-A and MAC-B pool. If yes, were we can provide MAC-A and MAC-B pool info when deploying.3. Regarding VLAN created for NCI cluster in UCS Manager. need to migrate vms on ahv (intra cluster)

i want to migrate VMs from ahv to ahv in the same cluster (let say from node A to node B) but the VMs status is powered off, in my case i dont want to powered on the VMs, i just want to migrate the VMs to another host without powered it on(live migrate). is there any workaround to do that ?Thank you all

Sysprep for VMs deployed from template

Hi,I have a Windows server VM. I don’t have a Prism Central and have mounted the windows server disk to image services in Prism Element. I am planning to deploy future VMs from the template. I am confused is it necessary to run sysprep after deploying a new VM from the template. Hovewer, i have done sysprep of the base VM before mounting it to Image service.Also please comment on Cloned VMs. Thanks in advance.

Requesting Compatibility: Including Cisco B200 M5 as Compute-Only Nodes in an Already-Existing Nutanix Cluster

I am currently operating a Nutanix cluster with Cisco UCSC-C240-M7 nodes. I am considering expanding this cluster by adding two Cisco B200 M5 servers as compute-only nodes. Before proceeding, I’d like to confirm the following:1. Is it possible to install AHV Hypervisor on Cisco B200 M5 servers and integrate them as compute-only nodes into our existing Nutanix cluster?2. Are there any specific configurations or firmware requirements for the B200 M5 servers to ensure compatibility with Nutanix AHV (the blades are UCS managed)?3.
