I am following this guide: https://www.jeroentielen.nl/installing-nutanix-community-edition-ce-on-vmware-esxi-vsphere/ I am getting this error message: Operation failed: NoHostResources: No host is schedulable: 14There is no insight in the entire system to say why the host is not schedulable.I have allocated 100GB Memory, 16 cpu cores and 2.5TB of storage To CE 2.1. All health checks are green.VM i’m trying to run is Linux based, 2GB memory 128GB storage without any networking.I’ve started and stopped the cluster. Entered and Exited Maintenance Mode. The system is a Dell R720 with E5 2667 V2 processors running ESXI 7.0U3o I am at a loss for why this system won’t run a basic linux VM. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Hi Everyone, I have a use case within the business where a team wants to be able to leverage nested virtualization.I’m currently running some test within our test environment but wanted to understand if there are implications from nested virtualization such as:Does having VMs within cpu_passthru=true have any performance impact on that node / cluster Live migration considerations Replication considerations
We attempted the following approaches to enable nested virtualization, but it still did not work.Approach 1:a. Created the VM and enabled cpu_passthrough=true before powering it on.Observation: We were able to log in to Windows.b. Enabled the Hyper-V feature inside the VM and restarted.Observation: The system failed to log in and entered Recovery mode.Approach 2:a. Created the VM and enabled hardware_virtualization=true before powering it on.Observation: We were able to log in to Windows.b. Enabled the Hyper-V feature inside the VM and restarted.Observation: We could log in, but the nested virtualization feature was disabled. Please advise on how to enable nested virtualization in CE 2.1
We try to activate our nvidia card in an ce 2.1, but we can not see the AHV option in the Download page.We I try to acces it directly with https://portal.nutanix.com/page/downloads?product=ahv there is always a popup asking for “Activation required”.As I only run the community edition I do not have any of the requested information (Serial Number or Service Tag or Software Registration ID).Is there still a way to get the drivers.
We have a customer running the following Nutanix cluster setup:1 cluster with 4 nodes – Dell XC650 model, each node with 512GB RAM2 clusters with 4 nodes each – Dell XC640 model, each node with 768GB RAMThe customer plans to deploy VMs with 64GB and 128GB memory configurations.Could you please confirm:Is this a supported configuration for VM deployment on the mentioned clusters? Will deploying VMs of this size cause any performance impact on other workloads in the cluster? What are the best practices or guidelines to follow in this scenario to ensure optimal performance and resource utilization?
Hello,I need to install NX-3060-G6 with the Foundation VM version 5.9, but I always get an error message. For your information, this G6 already has a system installed (Sangfor HCI). How can I perform a hardware reset of the Nutanix nodes in order to reinstall them?
Hello Nutanix Community,I am currently working with Nutanix Prism Central version pc.2024.2.0.8 and need to programmatically retrieve VM performance metrics (such as cpu_usage,disk, memory) via the Nutanix REST API.
Hello, what is SELinux protection policy (hawk armor) in Nutanix and where I can find ANY info about it? This seems to be new policy in AOS 7.3 and completely ommited from release notes.http://portal.nutanix.com/kb/17892
Hello All,I need some help on how to deploy Nutanix AHV, AOS and Prism element in newly deployed DELL servers. Also, need to check which version i should go with by following N-1 principal or something else here.If someone can help on below and have queries further as wellCVM FoundationFoundation for WindowsStandalone Foundation VM Please suggest.
I am using the New-NTNXVirtualMachine PowerShell cmdlet to create a VM on an AHV cluster. Up until now, I haven’t included the “-BootConfig” option and it has defaulted to “BIOS”. Now I need to specify UEFI and Secure Boot for Boot Configuration. AI gave me examples and information but it must be out-dated because the properties were not named correctly. Or maybe my cmdlets are out-dated. It gave me this:$bootConfig = New-NutanixObject -Name BootConfig$bootConfig.uefi_boot = $true$bootConfig.secure_boot = $true$bootConfig.boot_device_order = @("kCdrom", "kDisk", "kNetwork")New-NTNXVirtualMachine -Name "MyUEFIVM" -MemoryMB 4096 -NumVCPUs 2 -BootConfig $bootConfig -Cluster "MyCluster"When I tried it, I found there were actually no underscores in the name. But I did not find any reference to a property for “secureboot”.$bootconfig | get-member TypeName: Nutanix.Prism.DTO.Acropolis.BootConfigDTOName MemberType Definition---- ---------- ----------Equals

I am conducting a qualification of an application on AHV which requires certain SMBIOS values are set for the host VM to properly identify the platform and ensure operation. Specifically, values of smbios type 2 (baseboard) for “Manufacturer” and “Product Name” need to be set. This is normally populated by default in VMware. In Proxmox (another QEMU KVM based hypervisor) this can be easily set using the qm tool and passing the args string to update the values as needed. qm set <VmID> --args "-smbios type=2,manufacturer=<vendor>",product=<model>"Exhaustive searching leads me to acli vm.update “extra_flags” option but I don’t see any options to add SMBIOS information. Looking for guidance from the community while also working with Nutanix Support. Thanks!
Hello All, I will like and understanding of the Nutanix system accounts Admin/Nutanix etc.We have a cluster of 3 nodes.I’m able to login via Gui with admin account on PC. (not a problem)I’m able to login via ssh to each CVM node with admin account. (not a problem)If i try to login to same ip via GUI with the admin account i get this error (Unable to authenticate. Please contact the Nutanix administrator.) Is the CVM admin account different from our Prism Element admin account?(we can’t login to PE with our admin account)If so which account can i use to change the password for PE admin account?
Does Prism Central supports 2FA ( OTP or Captcha)
Hello, I have 3 node cluster setup and working fine and it is also integrated with PC as well and the VM is in the same cluster itself. I am just curious to know. Just curious to know, how to VM auto start works in this case. Like in VMWARE we use to manually select startup feature and configure VM Startup Priority by +1. What concept is use in nutanix, and how can we prioritize that?
I was testing Link Failover and it was not working as expected. I have configured ACtive-Standby, and once I am taking out the cable from NIC1 all the traffic does not goes through Standby link, after connecting nic back, the traffic was also restored. Just want to know the faiover scenario related to NIC. Note : Time seems to be correct in every CVM Once the traffi is back I am trying to access CVM with virtual IP giving below error
I have an infrastructure operating on a Nutanix Cluster and Prism Element, and I have integrated it with VEEAM Backup. I possess a socket-based license for VEEAM, and the cluster appears online in VEEAM. There are about 15 VMs in my infra, and I have set up a job to back up all the VMs which are within the cluster, I start the job and observed that it is not utilizing the socket license. Instead, it's recognizing an instance-based approach and only backing up a few VMs, with the rest displaying a license overutilization error. Can any one let me know How Nutanix works with VEEAM, is it a socket based license or instance based license only.
Hello Team, I have a Nutanix PC containing 1 Cluster. I have added few OVA files in to it and I was able to create VM using those OVA. I also have the Backup of the PC in PE cluster. My PC(PRISM CENTRAL) was destroyed somehow and I restored from the last successful backup. After logging in to PC, I go to ova and try to create VM using OVA file it shows OVA was not found. and When I try to delete the OVA file it throws and exception
The nutanix AHV python SDKs are pinned to an old and vulnerable version of certifi which introduces cve-2024-39689 into integrations that leverages this.I previously wrote up a very detailed post on this but it was deleted with no explanation. If there is a better place to post this please DM me at let me know.
I am dealing with weird situation, I have setup a 3 node cluster, and everything went well from installation point till the GUI. As for now every one is taking time from a NTP server, but somehow my NTP servers and changed and it has some different time which is from GPS, I tried to setup that NTP Server in the PRISM ELEMENT, but the CVMS are not syncing with correct time from new Time GPS Clock, I started restarting ChronyD services bt unfortunately nothing happened
I am trying to deploy Prism Central but unable to do that, getting below error. Not sure what I am doing wrong, this happens during post deployment.
Hello.I have a question.Resource Requirements Supporting Snapshot Frequency (Asynchronous, NearSync, and Metro) I'm inquiring because I don't understand well even if I look at the link above.Three G9 nodesI'm thinking of making three G7 nodes into one cluster. The G9 node already has a cluster configured and will expand the G7 node. The G9 node is two SSDs and four HDD hybrid HCI.G7 nodes are also six SSD All Flash nodes.G9 Node Disk CapacitySSD = 3.06TibHDD = 6.9qTibG7 Node Disk CapacitySSD = 1.92TibDR is configured in the G9 cluster that is already configured, and snapshots are being taken every two hours and sent to DR. The number of snapshots stored is two. When configuring these services, how much CVM memory should be allocated? The reason for putting the inquiry is that I set the CVM memory to 32GB with G9 initial configuration. It's been about 3 months since the configuration. CVM memory usage is over 90%.We would like to ask for your opinion as the usage increases until a memory us
Hi all, I recently performed a fresh installation of a Nutanix cluster using three nodes, all based on the HPE ProLiant DX380 Gen11 12LFF platform. As part of the pre-deployment steps, prior to imaging the nodes using Foundation VM (foundation version was 5.7.1), I upgraded the firmware on all three servers to Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) version 2025.05.00.00. This firmware version was explicitly referenced in the Nutanix installation prerequisites and compatibility documentation for this hardware generation. The SPP upgrade was completed successfully via iLO on all nodes, and I validated the firmware version through the iLO web interface post-upgrade.Following the firmware upgrade, I proceeded with the node imaging using Foundation and successfully deployed the cluster without any issues. Once the cluster was operational, I launched LCM > Inventory and ran Perform Inventory to validate component versions. However, LCM still reports the installed SPP version across all hosts as 202
We have a 6-node Nutanix cluster on VMware ESXi spread across two racks. Each rack has a ToR switch, and both ToRs are in an IRF stack. All nodes are dual-uplinked (one NIC to each ToR).Core switch handles L3 routing, and VLANs are trunked to the IRF stack. We're planning to replace both ToR switches with new IRF switches — without downtime. Can the community please guide on: Best practices for live switch replacement How to ensure CVM and ESXi connectivity during the change Key health checks from Prism Any Nutanix KB or doc on this
