Hello Team. <issue summary>Windows server 2016 VM was restored after async DR to another cluster. If I check through Prism or CVM acli, the local vdisk looks normal in the list. However, some local vDisks are not recognized inside Windows OS.The disks are not identified in "Create and Format Hard Disk Partitions" at all.The weird thing is that other local vdisk looks normal.VG attached in DAS way looks normal vdisk.async DR was performed from AOS 5.20.5 to AOS 6.5.5.5. <Current Environment>- AOS 6.5.5.5- OS : Windows Server 2016 Standard- VirtIO : 1.2.3- vdisk bus : scsi If you restore it from the AS-IS cluster and check it, the local vdisk looks normal on the OS.In a TO-BE cluster, some local v disks are not recognized by the OS.Has anyone had a similar experience? If you have any, please tell me about the solution or cause. Thank you.
Hi Team,We are trying to deploy NCI cluster and env is Cisco C series M7 connected fabric interconnect, UCS domain mode deployment. Nutanix AOS/AHV- 6.5.5.7 version. 1. Looking for information on how many MAC pool required . As the document says to create a default MAC pool and unique MAC pool. is it 2 pool required.2. Normally there will be separate MAC pool for each FI /Fabric interconnect which will be used for server based on connection. For instance, server A has 2 NIC and 1Each connected to FIA and FIB. Both NIC cards will get MAC ID from deferent pool. In Foundation only one MAC pool can be used and that should be default MAC pool. do we have create 3 Mac pool default , MAC-A and MAC-B pool. If yes, were we can provide MAC-A and MAC-B pool info when deploying.3. Regarding VLAN created for NCI cluster in UCS Manager. If we create multiple VLANs, ex for CVM/ AHV, for VMs. How /where we can tag them. As in Foundation only one VLAN can be used.4. Regarding UCS manifest file vi /hom
i want to migrate VMs from ahv to ahv in the same cluster (let say from node A to node B) but the VMs status is powered off, in my case i dont want to powered on the VMs, i just want to migrate the VMs to another host without powered it on(live migrate). is there any workaround to do that ?Thank you all
Hi,Does Nutanix AHV allows to deploy VMDK (VMware) or VHDx (Hyper-V) file format VMs in nutanix cluster without converting it to a nutanix supported format?
Hi,I have a Windows server VM. I don’t have a Prism Central and have mounted the windows server disk to image services in Prism Element. I am planning to deploy future VMs from the template. I am confused is it necessary to run sysprep after deploying a new VM from the template. Hovewer, i have done sysprep of the base VM before mounting it to Image service. Also please comment on Cloned VMs. Thanks in advance.
I have tried to delete contents of recycle bin but the job has finished. I can't see the result on the overview. Can you assist for me?
How to identify which NIC 1 NIC 2 etc or eth0 eth1 eth3 and eth4 on physical side. in my case, i want to configure the network active-backup and how to identify which port is eth1 or eth2 either on physical view or prism element dashboard thank you
I am currently operating a Nutanix cluster with Cisco UCSC-C240-M7 nodes. I am considering expanding this cluster by adding two Cisco B200 M5 servers as compute-only nodes. Before proceeding, I’d like to confirm the following:1. Is it possible to install AHV Hypervisor on Cisco B200 M5 servers and integrate them as compute-only nodes into our existing Nutanix cluster?2. Are there any specific configurations or firmware requirements for the B200 M5 servers to ensure compatibility with Nutanix AHV (the blades are UCS managed)?3. Can you provide any documentation or guidance on the best practices for this type of integration?Thank you
I have some HX1021 nodes that are bare metal right now and need to have AHV installed. I’ve tried multiple AHV ISO images and AOS ISO images, but every time I try mounting them to install them, I get this error: “[6.486252] pstore: unknown compression: deflate.” I’ve tried multiple versions of these ISOs and have tried downloading them from my local computer and from my jump host. I don’t believe they are getting corrupted when being downloaded. Anyone have any advice?
Hi there, I have two Cisco UCS B200 M5 servers connected to two 6200 FIs. I have deeply searched in the documentation of Nutanix and found that the only supported B-series server is the M4, but its supported AOS is EOL already. And I know that the minimum number of nodes is three for a Nutanix cluster to be deployed. However, my question is: is there any possible way I can install AOS on these servers? Thanks,Osama
Hi,I have a successful gold image build for Windows Server 2022 that runs all the way through - building from ISO’s in the image library all run from Packer and ending up with a sysprep’d ‘disk’ in the Image library able to be deployed from… All apart from I manually have to catch the first boot of the Packer build and hit ‘any key’ to enable the initial boot from the attached ISO.In the ESXi version of the Packer plugin, there’s “boot_command” and boot_wait” options, but nothing like this seems to exist in the Nutanix Packer plugin (0.9.0)Has anyone got a solution to this problem? Seems pretty basic! Thanks in advanceTim
Ok, yesterday one of our many Nutanix clusters was upgraded to 5.15 LTS and I started to create a new Windows Server 2016 template using UEFI-configuration. Now I am stuck at display resolution of 1280x1024 and change is not possible, because it is grayed out. Nutanix Guest Tools from 5.15 LTS and VirtIO 1.1.5 are installed. Is this bug known and does there exist a work-around? What about 5.16 STS? Is it fixed there? Thanks for any reply. Regards, Didi7
Hi AllI have recently inherited an old (el7.nutanix.20201105.30281 is the version maybe?) 4-node Nutanix cluster and very soon after first looking at it and raising myself some tasks it has decided to stop working! I do not have support (turns out that expired a couple of months ago) and while I do intend to resolve that situation I just need to get the thing back online ASAP as it runs some critical servicesThe initial problem was caused by one of the nodes running out of inodes on the root disk. I cleared this down (it was just a LOT of emails in the spool) but the prism console was not available afterwards. Had a quick look online and restarted genesis (allssh 'genesis restart') off the back of that but it did not helpThe problem seems to be with zookeeper, in zookeeper.out I just see a lot of this2024-06-24 15:51:33,093Z:26630(0x7f4343398700):ZOO_INFO@zookeeper_interest@1926: Connecting to server 10.6.232.32:98762024-06-24 15:51:33,093Z:26630(0x7f4343398700):ZOO_INFO@zookeeper_inte
Hello, Is there a guide on how to increase CVMs CPU resources (cores) after deployment to accommodate additional enabled features or increased load? Thanks!
Hello , Do we need Witness VM for AHV Sync replication ? How system monitors and initiate automatic failover happen ?
Hello, I have 3 VMs on the Backup site and I now want to migrate them to the Prod site, knowing that we have Async DR for Data Protection. How can I migrate these three VMs through replication?
As part of It I was deployed a two nutanox clusters, Here is my terraform output nutanix_cluster1_bastion_public_ip = "145.40.91.141"nutanix_cluster1_cvim_ip_address = "192.168.98.16"nutanix_cluster1_iscsi_data_services_ip = "192.168.99.253"nutanix_cluster1_prism_central_ip_address = "192.168.99.252"nutanix_cluster1_ssh_forward_command = "ssh -L 9440:192.168.98.16:9440 -L 19440:192.168.99.252:9440 -i /Users/vasubabu/Equinix/terraform-equinix-metal-nutanix-cluster/examples/nutanix-clusters/ssh-key-s6shy root@145.40.91.141"nutanix_cluster1_ssh_private_key = "/Users/vasubabu/Equinix/terraform-equinix-metal-nutanix-cluster/examples/nutanix-clusters/ssh-key-s6shy"nutanix_cluster1_virtual_ip_address = "192.168.99.254"nutanix_cluster2_bastion_public_ip = "145.40.91.33"nutanix_cluster2_cvim_ip_address = "192.168.100.153"nutanix_cluster2_iscsi_data_services_ip = "192.168.103.253"nutanix_cluster2_prism_central_ip_address = "192.168.103.252"nutanix_cluster2_ssh_forward_command = "ssh -L 9440:192
Please let me know what I am missing, I have tried installing inside vmWare ESXI 8.0 or bare metal Dell powerEdge 110 II server, both attempts are failing, multiple tried, I am using USB bootable drive, and following installer:https://download.nutanix.com/ce/2023.03.01/phoenix-ce2.0-fraser-6.5.2-stable-fnd-5.3.4-x86_64.iso Many Thanks!
I posted last year about moving PC from a non-nutanix cluster running ESX to a nutanix cluster running ESX but we didn’t do the work at the time. Now the goalposts have moved a little, or will be and I think things will be a little bit more complicated! So to recap;currently PC (pc.2022.6.0.9) runs on a non-nutanix cluster ESX 7.xwe have 2 nutanix clusters running ESX 7.xwe will be purchasing a new cluster which we intend to run AHV onwe will then migrate all the VM’s from the two nutanix esx clusters to the new AHV clusterwe will possibly also be migrating our native Azure VM’s to Nutanix NC2 in Azure. We want to move our current PC to the new AHV cluster once its purchased. So the question is how? I was thinking of using MOVE. AIso note we AREN'T running microservices on our PC
Hello,With the Nutanix Powershell v1.0 cmdlets, I was able to use a customization file:$VMCustomizationFile = "adsf:///Transfer/VMCustomization/unattend.xml"$VMCustomization = New-NTNXObject -Name VMCustomizationConfigDTO$VMCustomization.userdataPath = $VMCustomizationFileNew-NTNXVirtualMachine -Name $VMName -NumVcpus $vCPU -MemoryMb $MemmoryMB -BootConfig $Boot -VmCustomizationConfig $VMCustomizationI have now rebuilt my script with the Powershell v2.0 cmdlets, and everything is working except the customization part. I cannot find anything about customization in the v2.0 cmdlets reference. 😞$VMCustomization = New-NutanixObject -Name VMCustomizationConfig$VMCustomization.userdataPath = $VMCustomizationFileHas anyone else successfully used a customization file when creating a VM with the Powershell v2 cmdlets?
