Initial Configuration: AHV passwords (root, admin, nutanix) | Nutanix Community

Hi all,

I just setup a new AHV environment and was wondering if it still needed to change the passwords for the users:
admin
nutanix

...on AHV!

https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=AHV-Admin-Guide-v6_8:app-ahv-access-initial-config-t.html

The reason for asking is, that they do not seems to be the default passwords (tried to login with them  - did not work: nutanix/4u) - and also the standard alarm that informs that you need to change these disappeared just after I changed the root password!

Has something changed in ver. 6.7 / 6.8 ?

In AOS 6.8 we added the ability in Foundation to set a custom, non-default password for the CVMs.

No changes were made to AHV for this that I’m aware of. My recommendation would still be to change all of the AHV password for the root account, which it sounds like you have done. Otherwise, you should not be logging into the AHV host with any other accounts.

Yes, root was changed on all hosts - but what about the “admin” and “nutanix” users on AHV - are they still to be changed?
