How to tell if an IP is Prism Central or Prism Element by prism api？

Could anyone know why I get this WARN after upgrading AHV using LCM:WARN: AHV version 20190916.360 is currently installed on host x.x.x.10, while minimum compatible AHV version is 20201105.2244.Node x.x.x.20 checked compatibility as shown below:AOS: 5.20.2.1Hypervisor: AHVHypervisor Version: AHV-20190916.360There are no compatible version!!!???What make me crazy the cluster still working!!! hey this Nutanix right. What should I do next?Should i leave it like that or try and run LCM again and install compatible version?thank you in advance

Is Prism supported on all/most current browsers? I have issues with Edge and to some extent IE11. Mostly on an AHV cluster that I am testing on before I migrate my producton to AHV. Typically it is with on the VM page and creating or otherwise managing VM's. Sometimes i have issues with the log in page rendering at all.

Customer is currently running OVM on Sparc hardware. Guest OS on OVM is Solaris and Oracle Database runs on  Solaris.Nuatnix AHV will support Solaris?there is a way to move to Nutanix AHV and what could be the best guest OS suitable – Oracle Linux or one of the other Oracle certified guest OS’s .

I was able to build a Nutanix Move server on an AHV and move VMs from Hyper-V onto the AHV.I wanted to shut down the Nutanix Move server since I won't be using it for a while, so I logged in from the console(I found out when I logged in that it was Alpine Linux.) and ran the "poweroff" command, but I got an error "Operation not permitted".How can I shut it down from the console?

Hello Team,Greetings!I am checking to see if we can access Nutanix compatibility matrix https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/compatibility-matrix without needing to register Nutanix Product. Like as a partner or a regular user who do not have Nutanix products but want to check compatibility, how to do it?

We have 3 node HPE DX380 deploy nutanix recently. After 2 - 3 days, i saw the physical disk show bad disk suddenly and no flush light in physical disk LED light.  When i login iLO port, the storage is good and no error.  When i login PRISM, look the disk is Red and show “The drive has failed”.  When i unplug it and plug it again, and re-partition it, seems back normal, but i concern the new server have this error suddenly so want to create nutanix case, but when i create case with input HPE serial number, it is not allowed, so i would like to ask how to create Nutanix case for HPE DX380.  Many thanks.

Hello everybody,I was unsuccessful to boot from a SATA CDROM in an AHV VM on different Nutanix-cluster with the same AOS 5.15.4 LTS version.Allthough I explicitly selected to boot from the SATA CDROM, the VM says ‘Could not read from cdrom (Code xxx) and instantly jumps into 2048 game (what the heck). As soon as I switch to an IDE CDROM, the system boots properly. Is this a bug in AOS 5.15.4 LTS ?ThanksDidi7

I have successfully run collection (version 4.0) in Hyper-v and export ZIP. When i upload the ZIP to collector.nutanix.com, The VM Name becomes garbled, The original VM NAME was Traditional ChineseCan you help me?  Thank you!

Firstly I am new to Nutanix and still have a lot (everything?) to learn on the subject. I have a single Nutanix cluster running AHV and a number of VMs in production, when the cluster was setup (by a contractor) a Prism Central trial was also setup. To be honest, with a single cluster I have not found any real need to Central so now the trial is up I was wanting to decommission it.The PC VM is also being reported as a ‘bully’ in the cluster so another reason to get rid. Obviously I could just switch it off, but I’m sure that there is more to it than that to safely and cleanly remove the PC instance. Considering my newbie status does anyone have any specific articles they know of, or even better some instructions I can follow to safely and cleanly remove PC from the environment please?

I am upading VM through restAPI, VM  is getting updated but after showing warning on VM grid as below. Request: Method: Put{    "spec": {        "name": "Mahesh-Win7-Flow-0002",        "resources": {            "power_state": "ON",            "hardware_clock_timezone": "Asia/Calcutta"        }    },    "metadata": {        "kind": "vm",        "categories_mapping": {            "Environment": [                "Production",                "Testing"            ],            "Team": [                "Dev-Junior"            ],            "Department": [                "Dev"            ]        },        "categories": {            "Environment": "Production",            "Team": "Dev-Junior",            "Department": "Dev"        },        "use_categories_mapping": true,        "entity_version": "",        "spec_version": 20,        "spec_hash": ""    }}Response : "status": { "name": "Mahesh-Win7-Flow-0002", "state": "ERROR", "execution_context": { "task_uuid": [ "7c606

Hi there,I need explaination about vCPU usage :My CPU Model is Intel(R) Xeon(R) Silver 4208 CPU @ 2.10GHz (8 core, 16 thread)  I have two socket per host So 2 x 8 = 16 cores and 4200 Mhz (base freq) / 6400 Mhz (max turbo freq) So 32 vCPU (16 cores x 2 = 32 thread with Hyperthreading) A VM use 6 vCPU and 1 core Prism report for this VM, 97% of CPU usage97% of what ? Is that 6400 / 32 x 6 = 1200 Mhz ?? The half a physical CPU ?How that calculation is made ?Thanks,Jerome

Hi all!In an attempt to solve a problem with “round-tripping” JSON I’ve concluded that the only fix is to use PowerShell 7 since the ConvertTo-Json cmdlet in version 7 allows me to escape the troublesome characters. This solution might just be me robbing Peter to pay Paul though as I now face the issue of getting Calm to use PowerShell 7 instead of the default 5.1 (a.k.a. Windows PowerShell).I’ve gone so far to set the default PowerShell remote endpoint (windows.powershell) to point to PSH 7, which works if I do a traditional Enter-PSSession but not if I execute a PowerShell script in a Calm runbook.Which leads up to the title of this topic, how does Calm execute PowerShell on an endpoint?Since it’s using port 5985 it should be WinRM/WSMAN/remote PowerShell, but it completely ignores the fact that the default PSH remote endpoint is pointing to PSH 7.Is it using another endpoint? Or is it not using WinRM after all?

Hi all! This might not be a Nutanix Calm specific problem, but since I’m experiencing the problem within Calm I’m posting a question here (as well). :)I'm grabbing a VM definition using GET https://${PCHostAddress}:9440/api/nutanix/v3/vms/$VMUUID. I convert the payload to an object using ConvertFrom-Json, manipulate it using .Remove() to remove the Status section (among other things), and convert it back to JSON with ConvertTo-Json.When I send the modified payload back using PUT https://${PCHostAddress}:9440/api/nutanix/v3/vms/$VMUUID, I get a "(400) Bad Request." Thinking I screwed something up when modifying the payload, I removed the part of the code that changes the object but still got the same error, even though I'm "just" converting the unmodified payload from and to JSON.Sending back the payload without converting from and to JSON results in a "(422) UNPROCESSABLE ENTITY”, as it should. In this case the -Depth parameter isn't the culprit as far as I can tell (I've added -Depth 10

Hi!I need help wrapping my head around how the while loop in Calm works. The documentation is unfortunately not helpful at all. :/The first thing I can’t understand is why a while loop has a fixed number of iterations. This to me is a for loop. A while loop runs while a condition isn’t met.The second thing that’s confusing is the exit condition that I can set to Success, Failure, or Don’t Care. I guess that Don’t Care turns the while loop into an actual for loop? The Success or Failure condition is as far as I can tell completely out of my hands as this is based on the result of the execution of the task(s) within the loop and not a parameter I control. Do I have to fail a task on purpose to keep the loop going if I choose Success as my exit condition? What happens if I have multiple tasks in the loop, do all tasks need to fail or succeed for the exit condition to trigger? Is it possible at all to set a parameter in one of my scripts and then use that as an exit condition? Thanks.

Hi, in the security advisory “nutanix-sa-023-log4j2” ifor PC is mentioned: Prism Central (All supported versions) Patched as part of 2021.9.0.3, release pendingWhat is the expected release date?

Hi!I want to use the Prism Central API to create and connect a vdsik to a VM. The only examples and topics I’ve seen for creating and attaching vdisks uses the Prism Element API, i.e. using a specific CVM as the endpoint.I don’t want to use a specific CVM as this is to be an orchestrated task triggered by our ITSM system. We can’t rely on a specific CVM to be available and would much rather use Prism Central. However, I can’t find any API calls that seem to be able to create and attach a vdisk. Maybe the PUT /vms/{uuid} call is capable of this but I can’t see any mention of this in the documentation. Is there a way to do this with Prism Central?

How do i change the name of an ESXI host and CVM in a Nutanix cluster?

I haven’t noticed any messages or communications regarding the recent log4j vulnerability (CVE-2021-44228). Does Nutanix have some formal announcement for customers on the status of this threat as it relates to their product portfolio?

Hello, We have an old NX-1050 and I’m wondering what is the recommended AOS, Foundation, ESXi for this? I cannot find this model in the Compatibility Matrix website. Thanks!

I installed a new VM with Windows Server 2022 for testing and when I try to connect through RDP it works fine for 10 seconds and then I get a frozen screen and no response. Can you tell why is that?

Hi fellas,Does anyone have a clear answer of what is the real cost of AHV?  I’m told that AHV is free but is this referring to only Nutanix Community Edition? What about AOS? when purchasing a Nutanix node/block/cluster, these come pre-installed but the cluster essentially has no ‘smarts’ without the CVM which is AOS.Referencing this Licensing Quick Reference Guide, it looks like AHV is included with AOS but AOS’ licensing metric is charged per node.  Am I reading this correctly? Is it possible to run AHV without AOS? Thanks,JS

The Nutanix AOS/AHV was installed on the DX equipment, and the ISCSI Data Services IP was also set up. The Volume Group tab and create Volume Group  are not visible in the Prism - Storage - Table.AOS version is 5.20.xIs Volume Group not supported for DX equipment? Or do I need another setting after AOS 5.20?
