For installing a Ubuntu Server Cloud image is it still required to customize it to add the serial port as described in a 2-year old article in this forum for installing Ubuntu Server Cloud.  Also do Ubuntu Server 22.04 OVA images work or must use .img? See: Ubuntu 22.04 (Jammy Jellyfish) [20230107]

Hi all, After completing the ECA online course and earning the free exam voucher, I am unable to schedule for the NCP-MCI exam on the NutanixUni-PSI exam dashboard (https://home.psiexams.com/#/dashboard/regular-dashboard).  At the bottom area where the schedule link ought to be located, I am instead seeing this block of text: “You can schedule an exam if you have previously contacted a PSI Customer Support representative and paid for an examination, or you believe that your licensing or certification agency has provided PSI with eligibility information for you.” Any help would be appreciated! Sebastian

Hello Team,I hope you are doing well,I am learning more about Nutanix platform ,  can please share document(s) or KB(s) on how the physical disks are used in a Nutanix host? ie if the disk in slot 1 is reserved for CVM or m.2 is reserved to install the OS,I want to have my own guide that shows all models with their own disk layout according to their possible combinations -single SSD , dual or quad SSDs the rest of the slots are populated with HDDs -hybrid-or all slots are populated with SSDs ..ect.BRAdel

Hi,I have two Nutanix clusters on different sites (one on each site) a few miles apart with 10GB low latency networking in place.I have setup a two node failover SQL Server cluster for HA on a single site, but I would like to add DR to the solution.I know Availability groups (and other options) are a good solution for this, but we can’t implement those at present and so I am looking for the ‘correct’ way to replicate the two node HA that we have (With it’s shared storage) across to the second site so that our front-end application will continue to function in the event of a site failure.Any tips or pointers would be very much appreciated! Thanks

Hello Ma’am and Sir,Does anybody tried installing or imaging a single node using phoenix? please i need some help/procedure for this as I can’t access the links given in this page it only shows “Not Found or Fordbidden”: Appendix: Imaging A Node (Phoenix) | Nutanix Community…...specifically in “Installing the Controller VM and Hypervisor by using Phoenix” and “Imaging Bare Metal Nodes”…..I created bootable phoenix using USB then i am now in the root@phoenix but I bet it requires some commands to push but have no idea on the commands and theres no search result in the internet regarding that

I'm curious, what is the maximum number of Playbooks that can be supported by Prism Central? And how many actions we can add in one playbook?

tl;dr how to perform pre-upgrade checks from the command line?Hello Guys,I have a question related to the performing manual / cli upgrade (command line). Here’s the scenario:AOS with ESXi as a hypervisor, multiple ROBO offices / Dark Site (no access to the internet), Dark Site server with LCM, very limited broadband: 16Mbit with static shaping (4Mbit) for management purposes and 12Mbit for businessIt is very difficult to upload via AOS GUI 4-5GB of  upgrade and .json file. 3-4% / 10minutes and upload task informing about a ‘server issue’. I’m 99% sure that it related to the broadband shaping.Solution is simple:upload tar.gz install/upgrade bundle, ‘untar’, install ( ./install/bin/cluster -i ./install upgrade )My question is: is any magic command to start pre-upgrade tasks with is normally presented in GUI if upgrade package is available? It will be very helpfull to start pre-upgrade check in-advance the main upgrade.I tried to find the command in lab:-- uploaded the bundle in ‘normal

I got Nutanix Exam voucher I guess in 2020 in Xvoucher , I haven't activated that voucher. I am not sure if the voucher have validity. I checked with Nutanix community before . They mention it wont have validity till you activate it

Hello guys,We are considering upgrading the existing Nutanix cluster environment to meet high reliability protection for critical applications.Currently we have a site A as the production cluster and site B as the disaster recovery cluster. The sites on both sides use Leap to provide a data protection strategy with an RPO 15 Mins. All sites' virtualization systems are using AHV.Now we plan to build a new site C, and do real-time synchronous data transmission with site A.Site A and Site C will be deployed in the same building. At the same time, it is hoped to ensure that the failure of either site A or site C will not cause data loss or service interruption. We hope to use Nutanix's data synchronization solution. However, we found that once the VM uses Leap to configure the real-time synchronization policy, the original Leap asynchronous transmission policy cannot be applied. It appears that only one Leap protection policy can be applied to the same VM.Therefore, based on the above situation

We have migrated a few Windows 2003 server VMs running on Nx / ESX to a new AHV cluster but in one of them after 3-4 hours the principal guest VM NIC stops responding and the VM has to be rebooted. We have tried deleting and adding the NIC manually with the same result so we had to roll back and boot that specific VM on the old Nutanix / ESX cluster. We plan to upgrade Fedora drivers to latest instead of stable and maybe change some network registry settings according to W2k3 best practices. Has anyone experienced this before? Any advice will be welcome.

What metrics are considered when Acropolis Dynamic Scheduling makes a migration decision on AHV related to CPU usage? Does ADS consider only CPU usage on the Host? Or does ADS take into consideration other VM or Host metrics such as CPU Ready, Co Stop, and/or Steal Time?

How to Get Total vCPU count details from a cluster?

Hello all! I hope everyone has had a wonderful start to the new year and a wonderful holiday season as well. I am running into the following error (shown in reply) when trying to deploy a new prism central instance I have tried to google around and also looking at various support topics and forums, but I have had no luck finding anything relating to what causes this. I have renewed the SSL certificate in the settings menu, but that did nothing for me. any help or guidance on where to find more information will be very much appreciated. As always, thank you for your time.

Hello Experts,I hope you are doing will,Can you please assist in providing a document or an explanation regarding the ramifications from switching between AOS LTS and AOS STS releases -if its possible - ? so far I have seen threads talking about switching from LTS to STS only.  BRAdel

Hello All,       I am working with Affinity policies and I wonder if there is an Affinity “light”. What I mean by this is in Hyper-v clusters you have a “Preferred Server” this means that if the preferred server is available the vm will reside there if not it will move to stay running. Once the preferred server is back online then it will move back. Is this possible in AHV? Thanks,Scott

Hello,There is a way to enable and configure IPFIX exporter to an external servicewhich is not Application Discovery service ?

Hello everyone,I have downloaded the Nutanix Community edition(2020.09.16) from Download Community Edition | Nutanix Community  and installed on my system and  now I want to deploy Nutanix Files on it . Can anyone here guide me for that . Please tell me if there is need of downloading any software or something.I can access prism on my network. Please guide me for deploying Nutanix Files.Thank you

Hi,I followed instructions to migrate a Windows 2013 server from ESX to AHV successfully according using Nx MOVE to https://www.vmwaremine.com/2019/01/24/migrate-windows-2003-x86-to-nutanix-ahv/#sthash.8hpeCflP.T3i44mTW.dpbs, it works great by the way. Now… In the process SCSI disks are cloned to IDE and the Windows 2013 SCSI controller is not recognized.  In this scenario, Is it possible to reconvert those disks back to SCSI? I guess I need to get the driver first (Fedora?) and follow available procedure to reconvert, Has anyone done this? Thanks!

Hello,We are moving VMs from an existing Nutanix cluster with VMWare to a new cluster with AHV using Nutanix Move 4.6 (last version). The problem is that for VMs with more than one network adapter in use IPs are not assigned most of the times to network adapters after the first one. This is happening for VMs running Windows 2016 but I have not checked if the same thing happens por Linux or other Windows versions but I bet it does. For this cases, Move configures those interfaces to get their IPs via DHCP. I read an old post about this behavior but applies to an older version of Nutanix Move (https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/kbs/details?targetId=kA07V000000LWejSAG). Is anyone experiencing the same problem? Am I missing something? Thanks in advance

Howdy,We have a VM that is licensed by hardware. We needed to do some after hours work on the network so we shut down the VMs and cluster. When it came back online the software unlicensed itself.Looking at the 4th bullet point has be wondering from this KB: How to set MAC address for VM NIC on AHV clusterNot finding much luck to my question but I was curious if the NIC MAC changes if it moved from one node to another when it came back online? Also, is there anyway to see if the system had a prior MAC NIC?Thanks,

Our current Nutanix infrastructure has been a bit neglected for a while, AOS, PC, NCC, etc have been kept up to date but not firmware\bios or hypervisor so I need to get these done.Current infrastructure is nothing massive, two clusters one 4 node one 3 running on NX-8035-G6 and NX-8035-G7, both are AOS 5.20.4.  We have one PC running at the latest version and its sitting on a separate Management vSphere cluster along with vCenter.  Hypervisor is currently ESXi 7.0 Update 2a 17867351 on all hosts, this is Standard Edition so NO DRS ☹  My plan is to upgrade the firmware and BIOS etc via the LCM on the smaller of the two clusters. I have freed up one host so there aren’t any VM’s on it apart from the CVM.  I take it I can just run the LCM to do the firmware updates on that host and let it do its thing without having to do anything else, it’ll shut down the CVM maintenance mode the host and restart it?Once that is complete I want to upgrade ESX on that host.  I have checked the compatibil

i wants to Migrate Azure VM to AHV Cluster, please help us to Migration Procedure.Azure Cloud VM to Nutanix AHV Cluster.

Hi, Is there any free voucher available for NCP-US 6. Also, please suggest, is it fine to take NCM-MCI 5.20 now, or we can try directly with NCM-MCI 6.5?

Hello, I recently tried to run an LCM upgrade of AHV Hypervisor el7.nutanix.202011005.30417 to version el7.nutanix.20220304.242 and ran into an issue where a failure occured during the upgrade and one of my clusters is now stuck on “Detaching node xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx from metadata ring” at a little bit of a loss as to where i can move forward from here. I am unable to launch the console for the CVM and cannot ping the CVM. I apologize for the formatting on this post. This is my first time posting and I am not too sure how to best format or attach screenshots.shown below.
