Hi. New to Nutanix for only a month, doing testing as a VMware replacement. One we thing currently do in vCenter is have very granular permissions. Only Linux engineers have access to Linux VM, and Windows engineers to windows. And Linux and Windows templates already have pre-defined category attached. I can build an authorization policy based on the “virtual machine admin” role and apply the scope to only AHV with category of linux and apply it to a linux user. However they cannot seem to build any new VMs, etc. Only manage what current VM has that category. I have tried to all other entity types as full access, but that doesn't seem to work, they can manage both sets of VMs. I am probably doing a terrible job explaining this, but if someone can tell me this can be done and give some hints, I can keep trying. I am certain I must be able to duplicate these permissions we already have.Thank you!

We're currently running low on available storage in our Nutanix environment, and I’d like to ask for your advice on how we can free up space effectively. If there are recommended steps or best practices we should follow, I’d really appreciate your guidance 

I have a 3 node cluster running 7.3.1 and while updating LCM complained that it cannot update NICs but I need to do manually listing KB-10634. I downloaded the x722 0x800042eb update file, executed and failed at the last minute and after the update both NICs are disappeared. I spoke with Supermicro and they are not willing to do anything because the motherboard serial is more than 5 years old and OOW. But one of the Tech advised me to program this chip (AT45DB041E-SSHN) with the 722M4B.bin file at my own risk and discretion, which I did, but nothing changed. nvmupdate64e just cannot see/find these two NICs.So what I tried next was to copy the above chip content from the second good known server and programmed the corrupted chip, but still nothing changed. The good new is that I can still install and use the latest AOS with a PCIE add on X550 card and the server works fine.But, I still would like to get those 2 x722 onboard NICs back and I really appreciate your help regarding this and

Hi,I have a customer with a standalone ESXi host running a few VMs. All backups are currently performed using Acronis Backup.I need to replace this ESXi host with a new Nutanix AHV standalone cluster, and I'm concerned about Acronis compatibility with AHV.As far as I know, Acronis requires an agent to be installed inside each VM that needs to be backed up. If I migrate these VMs from ESXi to AHV, will this affect Acronis Backup in any way? Is there any incompatibility between Acronis and Nutanix AHV?When checking the Nutanix Compatibility Matrix and the Acronis documentation, I see that the Nutanix “Data Protector” option is only supported on AHV versions 6.8.1 and earlier.However, I’m not sure whether “Data Protector” is required at all for Acronis to back up VMs running on AHV, considering that Acronis uses in-guest agents.Here is the Acronis documentation for reference: Supported virtualization platformsCan someone clarify this?Thanks.

As a Nutanix partner, we are currently planning to migrate part of our workloads to the Nutanix infrastructure.We have already completed internal sizing for our environments and would like Nutanix's assistance to validate and optimize the sizing on Nutanix.Could someone from the Nutanix team or community guide us on the recommended process and tools for accurate infrastructure sizing?Thank you :)

When physically configuring the DR center, we plan to set it up through migration. Would it suffice if only the Prism VIP has network connectivity? Or should communication also be established between each node?

HiI've deployed a Nutanix Cluster AHV in a dark site. Im having the issue exactly described here:https://next.nutanix.com/installation-configuration-23/prism-central-stuck-at-76-vm-is-not-reachable-42437?tid=42437&fid=23 But the topic was closed without any solution so I have to search for it… In summary:After deploying the cluster I tried to deploy the Prism Central with no luck, it got stucked at 76%... AOS 7.3.1 + PC 7.3.1 The PC VM intially startas and answer by ping, however it is automaticaly restarted during the config process and it loses the net config so it gets unaccesible by lan When checking the Prism Element tasks, I see the Application Deployment task stuck atl 76 %. If I open the PC VM console to check its status I can see that it stuck on the OS boot and I can see several services such as auditd, ntpd, rsyslog, rc.localhowever it doesnt show the login prompt. If I manualy boot the VM it boots normaly (it shows the login prompt), but there is no lan configur

Hi everyone!Today the password of the our PC admin’s account expired. I looked for the setting that allow modify it in PC GUI but i didn’t found it. Also, appears an advise password expiration in a secondary superadmin account. How can we change or disable or change the pwd expiration in these accounts?Many thanks in advance for you time! 😀

When I ran Perform Inventory it created "LCM root task has been created" and it got stuck at 0%. When I checked I saw that there was a NCC alert for idf db to db sync, which was resolved by following KB-5582 and KB-13381. But the task is still at 0%. Hello community. I am new to Nutanix, we just got a 3-node POC to evaluate a move off of VMware. Regarding Nutanix tools, it appears unlike VMware which the clone from template will keep a functional tools, Nutanix does not work that way. You have to install Nutanix tools after the clone or during the deployment. Is there a good KB or blog on this? We are very well versed in Red Had. We use Ansible and Satellite for our Red Hat management. I found a gzip for the Tools you can install, but how do you get it registered to the cluster? Is there a json file or something that we need to include in our clone that has the cluster ip, etc. Any help to get me started on this is appreciated. I will need to tackle Windows later, but I am not versed in Windows very well.Thank you!

Hello Nutanix community,I'm working on a cluster refresh project and need some confirmation on a compatibility issue related to API changes in AOS 7.3. The Details  Source Cluster (Old): AOS 6.5.6.1 (PE-Only, older G6 hardware, EOL soon). Target Cluster (New): AOS 7.3.1 (New hardware, registered to Prism Central 7.3.1). Migration Method: Nutanix Move (recommended tool). Goal: Migrate all VMs from the old cluster to the new one and retire the old hardware.  The Specific Concern: KB-19356 I found Nutanix KB-19356 which states that the V3 VMs PUT API is deprecated at the Prism Element (PE) level in AOS 7.3, which impacts Nutanix Move's ability to apply post-migration features like NGT, CPU Passthrough, etc., when PE is used as the target.My KB-19356 Summary:"The V3 VMs PUT API is deprecated on PE in AOS 7.3. I’ve deployed Nutanix Files using Prism Central, but I can’t figure out how to properly shut down the File Server.When I deployed Files via Prism Element before, I could SSH into the CVM and run afs infra.stop to stop it, but that doesn’t seem to work here.Also, when I check the file server list from Prism Element, nothing appears—so I’m wondering if the CVM doesn’t recognize it as a File Server in this setup.I searched for information but couldn’t find any clear instructions for shutting down Files from Prism Central.If anyone knows the correct method or best practice, please share.Environment:Prism Central: 2024.3.1.2 AOS: 7.0.1.5 FSM: 5.2

We are currently running NKE and are looking to move to NKP but have a doubt about the subnet requirements.NKE is currently running with multiple Kubernetes Clusters in a single Subnet. Is it supported and valid to continue in this way with NKP? Ideally, we would like to build the NKP clusters in the same subnet as NKE for the migration work rather than commission a new subnet. The subnet is suitably large, and we use Calico CNI for Networking. 

Does anyone have a checklist for implementing NKP in a customer's Nutanix environment?

I am a newbie to Nutanix and after successfully installing CE 2.1 on generic PCs and would like to go beyond CE and want to get into the commercial product just to get acquainted in my home lab. Bought an used NX-1175s-G7 with only the original 240GB NVME stick on the motherboard but no SSDs and HDDs and memory. Installed on hand 64GB memory and tried with some drives but the installation is failing always at this point. If someone has the exact model, I appreciate if you give me the above requested make and model part numbers. There are the last few lines of the installer. I have 3 servers as nodes for Nutanix CE. On the 1st and 3rd node the installation was successful.But when try to install on 2nd node I get an error. All server the same Dell PowerEdge R640 and i has installation through iDRAC Virtual Media.Physical disk the same on all servers:Whan i has try to install first time on 1st server i has same error, but whan i convert disk to Non-RAID problem has resolved.But on 2nd node it does not resolve problem.Please help with this error.

Hello All, I’m currently looking for a way to create a template that has installed NGT tools because I’m encountered an issue of Prism Central not detecting the NGT Tools Status of the VM (P.S this VM is deployed by a template that have already installed NGT Tools).I want to know how I can create a template which doesn’t need to do further after deployed a VM (Windows or Linux so whatever). Please share your thoughts.Thanks,
