Hello all,

I am trying to make a custom role in my Prism central. The thing I've been searching for is a user’s ability to launch a prism element from prism central. I'm not sure where it is in the operations when making the role. would anyone know where this is?

Hi @Terra

In Prism Central there is no specific RBAC operation for launching Prism Element from the UI. The ability to open Prism Element is controlled through the cluster permissions assigned to the role.

When you creating a custom role, make sure the role includes permissions such as:

 Cluster View / Read
Cluster Management (depending on the level of access required)

Without at least cluster-level read access, Prism Central will typically restrict visibility or interaction with the associated Prism Element instance.

Thanks

Hi @Terra

In Nutanix Prism Central, there is no specific RBAC permission to launch Nutanix Prism Element from the UI.

The ability to open Prism Element depends on the cluster-level permissions assigned to the custom role.

To allow a user to launch Prism Element from Prism Central, the role must include at least:

  • Cluster → View / Read permission

With cluster read access, the user will be able to see the cluster in Prism Central and use the “Launch Prism Element” option. Without cluster-level permissions, Prism Central will restrict visibility and access to the associated Prism Element instance.

Hello Selvamani!

This is what i thought would grant access in this case giving these permissions  and the standard roles of cluster/prism viewer roles still deny the user access to launch prism elements.
